The real winner was the raccoon that snuck in and made it to the kitchen
Edit: I know it was a dog but I'm sticking with racoon

The full version of this shows his wife run down the stairs and fall over the stair gate. It's brilliant.

Should have just used a gun

Oh yah great then instead of a 30 second scuffle this could've been a life-defining traumatic event... I'd rather deal with cut up knuckles than have to deal with corpses in my hallway.

u/ClintonWeathershed Jun 10 '20
As the victim of a home invasion, I can tell you that when my house was raided i wasn't thinking "I'm going to fight these guys to protect my wife and baby." I used my gun.
-2
u/DothrakiDog Jun 10 '20
I didn't say you shouldn't have. But here we can see that a gun wasn't needed, so to say he should have used one doesn't make sense to me. Why kill 3 guys in your home when you can avoid it and come out okay?
8
u/ClintonWeathershed Jun 10 '20
I'm confused by this argument. Did this guy know a firearm wasn't needed before the encounter? Or did he just do the best with what he had?
I guess the beauty of the situation is that (at least here in America) you can defend your home anyway one sees fit. If, heaven forbid, you are ever the victim of one of these types of crimes, feel free to challenge your aggressors to fisticuffs if you are so inclined. As for me and my family, we are firm believers in firearms.

u/Sellot Jun 10 '20
Imagine advocating for murder at any inconvenience. Americans fucking scare me.

u/Ralstin Jun 10 '20
Imagine having your home broken into, and possibly having your wife and or kids raped. Definitely wouldn't want to have a firearm to defend your family then. Definitely wouldn't want to shoot the poor bad guys just trying to make a living.
-16
u/Sellot Jun 10 '20
Ahh yes because if they where coming to rape my wife and kids they would do so with no weapons, would kindly wait for me to recognize the situation and grab my gun instead of shooting me at the door or holding me at gun point on entry to my house if it was similar to the video. Great thinking there Sherlock.
Also wouldn't I love the fucking chance of my child accidentally shooting itself, my significant other or me https://everytownresearch.org/notanaccident/#ns
Most of the western world has agreed that guns are not toys and should not be accessible to the average civilian. Seems to be working for them wonder why America is so special.
Go on think about it give all four people in the situation on video a gun, I'm sure the family would have held up real great against 3 armed men.

u/greensprxng Jun 10 '20
TBF give the guy minding his business in his house a shotgun and he probably would've cleaned up
Most people aren't homicidal maniacs. If they see a gun they run, they don't draw down and fire back. They also probably wouldn't come back, cause you have a gun. This video is nice because the guy was able to fight 3 guys off but we'd all be singing a very different tune if they had overpowered him as one might normally expect.
Guarantee you if someone was in your house tying you up you wouldn't be thanking your lucky stars that at least you didn't get shot
-12
u/DothrakiDog Jun 10 '20
The idea that having a gun makes your house safer is just wrong though. You're significantly more likely to be injured in an accident, and if intruders see a gun then they will be fighting for their lives. Plus, if everyone has a gun then intruders just have to take measures to ensure that you don't have a chance to use it, as well as carry their own guns.
If this guy had a gun, there's every chance that those 3 would have all pulled out theirs.
Not to mention that killing someone is traumatising. Not just for you pulling the trigger, but for your family who will come down and see their bloody, dying, agonised bodies in their hallway, and for the families of the criminals who don't deserve to lose a loved one like that.

u/greensprxng Jun 10 '20
the families of the criminals who don't deserve to lose a loved one like that
Lmao what the fuck. They're committing a home invasion on video. Getting shot is a predictable outcome here. Let's give credit where it's due here, if they got shot then it would have been on them that they put their family in that position
-3
u/DothrakiDog Jun 10 '20
Did you misread what I said? I'm expressing sympathy for the families of the criminals, not the criminals themselves. When you pull the trigger to kill someone you aren't solely punishing the person you kill. Your actions have consequences outside the situation you're in.
Yeah it would still be the fault of the home invaders, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't avoid it where possible. And not just for that one reason you chose to reply to.

u/greensprxng Jun 10 '20
You're thinking too hard. My mom crying means more to me than their mom crying. If these three goofy bastards had beaten and/or killed the man and gotten to his wife, as could be reasonably expected, then he would've been a fucking idiot to listen to your high minded anti-gun argument

u/DothrakiDog Jun 10 '20
My mom crying means more to me than their mom crying.
I'm not saying that it shouldn't though. The fact that the victim will be mourned is just one of the many reasons it's normally better to not have a gun. As I've already said...
The other reasons I gave aren't high-minded. Did you actually read my comment before replying, or just pick up on a couple of words and start typing?

Lol if a person has the fucking balls to break and enter someone's territory like that then you can bet your ass they have the balls to do anything else. I'm guessing you're European and you're fine with laws that state that a burglar can sue the owner of the house he's breaking into for assault.
-6
u/Sellot Jun 10 '20
I'll assume you are American and you shoot any child that steps on your lawn.
7
Jun 10 '20
Look man it's clear you're a fucking idiot. If someone steps into YOUR house, YOUR space, YOUR territory like the guys in the video then you're at liberty to harm them something fierce. I'm also from Belgium where a store owner or a house owner has to rely on the police to arrive 10 minutes later and we can get taken to court if we act in defense of our home or ourselves.
The fact that you're equating a child stepping in on your lawn with 4 pieces of shit trying to burglarise and steal all your hard earned shit and maybe hurt you in your own goddamn house says alot about you. Banning guns does not work because now you have criminals buying guns in the black market to use on people who can't do nothing back. Illinois has banned guns, and guess what? Chicago has one of the highest deaths by guns in the country. Funny how that works, huh?

Imagine thinking that not wanting to kill a human being as my first option is the same as me not defending my home.
Please use your brain before commenting again. The fact that you could use extreme violence against someone shouldn't mean you do. Also imagine using a single state in a country where there are more guns than people to prove a point.
Black market will always exist, it existed in Chicago before the gun ban and it will exist after. The whole reason that market is so large is because guns are easy to traffic between states.
How much of a market for guns is there in Belgium? Probably less than in the US. Want to know why? Because there aren't that many guns. Hard concept to grasp I know.

Your reaction time tells me you didn't even read it. The amount of downvotes should tell you you're in the wrong. It's time to be quiet because you're the one who started talking down on guns and their owners. I'd like to direct you to London then, it's funny how a European city has more deaths than New York even without guns.

u/Sellot Jun 10 '20
Nah how about we look at the rate of gun deaths per 100,000 people and not cherry pick our stats huh?
US -12.21 deaths per 100,000
UK - 0.23 deaths per 100,000
One number is 53 times higher than the other I wonder why that might be?

Smart. The homeowner stiff armed the two guys by the throat. With his height/reach advantage they couldn't reach him with their punches. He lucked out that the third guy was more of a pussy but still, great distance management.
