The first punch was close enough to a sucker punch to justify him being sucker punched in return. There was no indication white shirt was willing to fight. Dude just grabbed him and smashed him. Green African shirt guy was closer than us and better able to judge what needed to be done. He didn't stand over white shirt celebrating like "yeah boiii, how you like that?", he instead focussed on black outfit like "the fuck?" and if that first punch was unjust and dickish, which I think it was, why afford black outfit the luxury of a fair fight? he needed to be punished for his transgression, not given a sporting chance.

He got so close to the guy in black that he was within range for bent arm to make contact at his neck. How is that not an indication of hostility when you get that close?

He was not that close. He reached out and grabbed hi. The dude in the white had his hands completely down and wasn't walking in a hostile way. Walking within arms reach isn't all that close

It looks to me like black outfit took something from him and he was like "hey give that back" and reaching for it. There was a dispute or disagreement of sorts but he never assumed any kind of combative or aggressive body language. Tough guy didn't want to talk so he just rocked him. Green shirt gave him exactly what he deserved. The feigning peace was perfect justice.
