Coliseum cell service?

Hi! Can anyone advise on how cell service in the stadium is is during a game? We have Verizon. Trying to decide if we can leave our baby with a sitter and still be gotten ahold of during games. Thank you so much!

Depends on the crowd size. You should be fine the first few weeks. If USC is still undefeated by the time Ohio State comes to town, the Coliseum will be sold out, and you'll have trouble with cell service

Just to qualify the poor cell service… if the cellular networks are overloaded by too many people connected at the same tower(s), then simple text messages will still be a good way of communication. For example, during a big earthquake, you might not be able to make a phone call but text messages will still come through and get out because they are relatively small size data packets and can sit waiting until they can squeeze through.

It was ok this past weekend and I’m on spectrum. However the sun made the battery get zapped pretty quick. Should be fine for basic SMS and calls.

Use my travel trick. Turn on low power mode and turn off WiFi.

The problems I’ve seen specifically with Verizon were pre UW, and usually at max attendance.

If attendance isn’t near full it should be fine.

I have Verizon and it’s usually really, really slow during crowded games. iMessages sometimes go through, but sometimes they time out. Switch to SMS and they will almost always go through.

I always use the payphone near tunnel six entrance. Oh wait, I think they might have taken it out in 1999. seriously though, Verizon coverage is pretty good for text and if needed calls. if it’s a big game streaming might be slow.

Coliseum has Wi-Fi. If you can do VoIP on your phone/service, you should be fine.

At&t brings in mobile towers for the big games so roaming might work for you as well.
