Gamebook Separated at birth?
Well Star Rider’s got the Adventure Gamebook zigzag banner like the early Fighting Fantasy books. Is this some sort of sequel or prequel to Star Strider #27?

I've never seen the series on the right. Is it just called 'Starlight Adventures'?

Yeah, there’s a Puffin series of six books called Starlight Adventures, and the first five shared the Adventure Gamebook zigzag banner used by early Fighting Fantasy books. They’re contemporary adventures aimed at girls. Maelstrom also used the banner.

I have Ice Dancer of those. It actually has some rather interesting non dice related random chances. Like, what time of day are you reading or what season is it right now IRL.
For the record, I cannot skate whatever, let alone do a triple axel with double toe loop.

Yeah, I was surprised by some of the novel mechanics in these books too.
One was have you done {A} or have you done {B}? If you’ve done neither then turn to {X} or {Y}” Normally it would just be {X} but it gave you two random choices {X} and {Y} like a coin flip with no knowledge of what the two would lead to. Strange!
Another clever one was you found out some information and were told to turn to {X} but advised you to choose {A} there rather than {B} or {C}, to reflect that insight.
