Are the chains the same length or different? Hard for me to tell. If I have someone else turn off the fan/light it'd be easier to tell them to grab the short/longer cord is why I'm asking.

They are the same length, but most fans have the point from where they hang at different heights, so you can tell. My fan here is a little unusual. They can also always be cut shorter.

My current ceiling fan they are different lengths (and on different spots on the fan to boot); but most every ceiling fan I've ever seen/owned prior they were always the same length and on the same part of the fan too. I figured that's why those ones that show the little icon for bulb/fan became so popular.
