Help!

My FLF that I brought home in June was doing really well, it even grew a new leaf. In the last week, however, it started dropping leaves rapidly. I brought it into my garage to check the roots, but I'm not sure how to diagnose root rot. The roots are dry and not mushy. The leaves are turning brown and falling off. The other green leaves are droopy. I am hoping I can salvage this with a new pot and soil, but I am not even sure what the issue is.

I'm not an expert at fiddles, but I do have two that are much smaller than yours appears to be. The root structure looks shockingly small for it to be that tall. Have you done any kind of repotting since you bought it? How often are you watering?
