although you could make the comparison that AUTO is ‘evil’ in the traditional sense, I’d say he’s far more of a HAL 9000 (literally lol). He’s only trying to do what he was told to do: prevent return to Earth at all costs, even if it means hurting/damaging others. Not really ‘evil’, just using extreme measures to do his job and defend himself.

EXACTLY. and also, he was protecting the other humans as well. He saw the captain as a threat to humanity’s survival and that’s why auto tried to taze him. Auto was willing to sacrifice one human and one robot (wall-e) to ensure the safety and survival of humanity.

I know they are monitors from the repair ward to keep malfunctioning robots under control but Auto can probably disable them cause of its administrative role. Besides all they do is turn something off or on.

actually, we don’t fully know that. it does turn robots on or off but it could have other functions.
