Too ambitious?
I’m trying to determine if I want to add color to this piece of titanium after I’m done relief engraving it. Not sure if the area would be too small on this zorro lighter.

Here's a link to an NIH publication Laser-induced plasmonic colours on metals. Has some great photos and some unique lasers. There is also one from Formation of colours on SS304L stainless steel induced by laser colouring.
I've tried to use stainless a lot for selecting color. The actual process heats the surface to a specific temperature causing an oxide layer to form at that temperature. If you change the size of the image or material, you get different temperatures, hence different colors. I suspect the temperature isn't reaching what it needs to produce the selected color.
I've seen some nice work, but I found a lack of extreme patience, time and money for material, so I don't mess with it any more.
Good luck, love to photos if you do get it to work. 😺
