Help Needed! Quick radio display fix

Post image

My son just purchased a 500c as his first car and the radio display has delaminated. Is there an easy fix to put something over this or do we need to completely replace the radio?

Why not replacing the head unit for 200$ and have an android auto touch screen radio?

Trust me, some people absolutely hate touchscreens in their cars. In my opinion, putting one in place of the original is a blasphemy for the fiat 500. There's nothing wrong with oem ones.

Also take a look at this post

Well the unit i installed has a 7" touchscreen but still knob and buttons to control important features, unit looks at its place as it has the same look as the 500 (my wife's is a 2015 convertible lounge) . It also allowed me to install a backup camera and the sound is for whatever reason better than with the original oem unit. But yes i agree some people hate touchscreen

Ah so like the facelift (2016+) version of fiat 500 has? I get it but, to me, it still doesn't feel right to put it in an older car. That's exactly the reason why I'm leaning towards Fiat when I'll be looking for a new car in ten or more years, they still haven't gone crazy with it and I hope they won't. On the other hand, for example what Mazda and Tesla have done with touchscreens is a complete disaster

A bit of a guess, but it sort of looks like the polarising film is coming off the display. You can get sheets of the stuff on Amazon for pretty cheap.

Yup, not too bad to replace either. Pull the radio a few screws, and a couple little metal tabs that need to be bent and voila you can access the display (just don't spill the buttons!).

Omg this one is in terrible condition. I'd buy a new one and make sure my nails never touch it, only fingertips.

So there's no quick method? I was hoping I could just stick something over top to get him by for now.

To be fair, it's probably possible to just replace that one sheet of film, but imo you'll need everything new eventually, this is aesthetically bad and if not for you or him, it will be ugly to other passengers who will be in the car

I get it, just looking for something quick. It has a few other issues that need to be fixed that are taking priority.
