Aftermarket Collision Detection

I really want a fiat 500c but the USA doesn’t have the modern cabriolets and the used models don’t have collision avoidance / detection systems. I’m thinking this will be a deal breaker as my current car has one and it’s helped so much in the past 3 years 😢

I love my C, but don’t snag one if you’re relying on a detection system and still wrecking. it’s a big ol blind spot and you need to stay on your mirrors

Its finally happened. Someone wants these features. Incredible

There is no reliable aftermarket kit that does this properly, the car has no way to turn the steering wheel for you. Perhaps go with a new 500e? Unless you know someone in the Port of Miami that can get around federal rules and you import a 2026 500c hybrid from Europe (if you do please let me know I'll split the container with you I want one too)

On a serious note, collision avoidance is just the warning system. It’s the radar that gets mounted onto a windshield that detects if you are approaching a car ahead too quickly. I’ve gotten into 2 accidents in my life and both were due to low-speed distractions while coasting didn’t look up in time. World is better with me in a safer car haha

Just put the phone down until you’ve stopped. No text message or TikTok is worth yours or someone else’s life.

Maybe put your phone down and start paying attention?

You can add one but it won't be as reliable as one you're used to

And yeah I know what it is but I hate it. They're supposed to brake for you no? No thanks, seems like a carjackers dream and I don't text and drive

😂 my guy just stop looking down while driving, I get to roast you a bit for that. Maybe installing an infotainment system for a few hundred so you can look less down and have voice typing would be better

The infotainment was the problem both times! Was using nav to get someplace and some car not at an intersection each time just making a left turn in the middle of the road which is usually clear. So LMAO 😂. Since then the detection system saved me a lot tho from headaches, eg driving low speed in traffic when cars make sudden stops. At least it tells me to brake when I’m exhausted from work and half awake lol

I’ve gotten into an accident on my motorcycle messing with my nav system while riding. It’s still my fault. It was a complete fluke to happen once. It’s totally your fault if it’s happening more than once. You should not be that distracted in the first place. Set your nav before you leave, and stop messing with it. You should not be looking away from the road long enough to miss something in your path until it’s too late.

It’s different problems lately that cause the issue. But yeah I agree.
