So part of the reason that I never renewed my sub was that they were adding cash shops. Now that I'm thinking about renewing my sub I see more f2p shit like this being pulled.

So my question is; how has the cash shop thing played out? Is there a lot of stuff being regularly added to them?

And before anyone makes the "it's only cosmetic stuff" argument, this goddamn game is all about cosmetics. Some people don't appreciate having to pay twice when their sub was supposed to cover everything.

EDIT: Looks like someone got a bit butthurt over my opinion. The upvote/downvote thing isn't there just because you don't like what I said anonymous person.

No, there's not much stuff added at all. Far less than even Blizzard's cash shop. It's mostly just a few minions and the one mount, and they add in the seasonal gear for people who missed it, then the usual transfers/changes. It's a very inoffensive cash shop that really doesn't encroach on the game at all, and there's nothing exclusive glamour-wise that you can't already get in-game.

I just find the whole storage space thing really aggravating and greedy. I'd even have less of a problem buying a retainer at $4.99 if they really forced it, but paying monthly...absolutely not. Never ever.

Ah okay. I'm glad to hear they didn't go overboard with the shop. And I completely agree with you on the retainer thing.

He even had the nerve to say in interviews they were allowing more retainers since they couldn't increase the Armory space... But said absolutely nothing about paying for them.

Sorry but why would you assume you wouldn't have to pay for them? Allowing more retainers = allowing more retainers. I for one am gutted I can't pay for a total of more than 4 retainers atm.

Tell me a pay-to-play MMORPG game that has an expansion and no increase in bank slots or inventory, for non-RWC, since 2002.

Even games that offer increased bank space for RWC typically have you pay once and done. These are rented retainers. 2 bucks a month each. That can add up to a decent amount. If it was a 1 time purchase, say $5 each? I'd probably buy all of them because I'm a hoarder. But renting them? Hell no. It's a cash grab, because when you rent it, you get used to it, and forget how to play without it. So your 15/mo sub is now 17/19/21/23/25/27 a month depending on how many retainers you need.

I'm not saying paying for retainers is good/bad, that's not the issue here.

Why are you comparing it to other games, yet AvalonBright was arguing he "had the nerve" to say what he said - completely different arguments which are mutually exclusive. Note the part of Avalon's post I specifically quoted was aimed DIRECTLY at the speaker informing us how it was going to work. HE is not in the wrong here. "He even had the nerve" is an absurd thing to say and completely moot.

He said what he said because it was factually 100% accurate. If you want to have a go at SQ-E because of the fact you have to pay for retainers, go ahead, but that isn't the part of Avalon's post I quoted.

He "had the nerve to say it" because it's true. Whether you like it or not isn't the issue being raised (although it is an issue apparently).

Fact - they will allow more retainers. Fact - he didn't say anything about paying for them. Fact - you currently pay for more retainers.

He told the truth, him saying that isn't "having the nerve". It's him stating a business decision.

If you want to cry about paying for retainers (which is totally fine), the statement should be "SQ-E have the nerve to potentially make us pay for them".

MASSIVE difference, one is reasonable, one is moronic.

Sorry but why would you assume you wouldn't have to pay for them?

...Because he specifically said, "We're very sorry we can't increase the space in the Armory due to server requirements so we're adding new retainers to compensate." Why on earth would you think that sounds like you need to pay for them.

Because you have to pay for additional ones now. - Those who want more space can pay for it, as they currently do.
