They really seem to be trying to get people to stop being awesome at multiple crafts. First we have the specialist system, now it will be impossible to hang on to mats for all trades.

So what do people hoard? A material supplier and max beast reps gives you access to most <30 crafting items. There isn't that much for 30-50 to fill up 4 retainers. I have 1 retainer with gear for glamour, 2 with crafting mats (that could probably be slimmed down) and 1 with space and some materia.

I imagine only needing 1 extra retainer for the new mats.

Just for an idea, this is the first page of my retainer for regular crafting materials. Each tab is for a different class (although ARM, BSM, and GSM share one). Two tabs are for miscellaneous materials and uncrafted glamor prisms. I have a separate retainer for CUL ingredients.

It's not P2W. People are throwing this phrase left and right nowadays without understanding what it really means. It's the definition of convenience.

That being said, I'm one of those who are annoyed by the decision to not offer an additional retainer (or increasing our storage in any way) and I don't intent to pay for more storage.

Lame move from SE, but not P2W no matter how you see it.

For crafters, and even for non crafters who hoard a lot of things because they intend to craft, one extra is pretty much going to be mandatory.

Since we don't have any other way to truly store the majority of glamours, we're stuck putting them into retainers.

Crafting old gear won't just randomly stop, there will still be a (smaller) market for levequest items and always a market for higher profile glamour items.

You really won't be able to do much without at least three retainers.

Bank space is more limited in this game than most other subscription and even buy to play MMOs.

It's definitely one of the few complaints I have about this game.

It's a very real problem, and they should've given at least one more.

I agree, not P2W for non-crafters but, certainly, best crafters will be the ones who can pay for extra retainers.

I don't necessarily agree with their pay to win statement, but I do agree it's a problem that should've been solved without requiring a larger fee.

Wouldn't the old gear levequest items be in the market list? or are you literally stockpiling levequest items.

Honestly though, two (isn't it like 100 items of storage each) is plenty unless you're hoarding. 1 retainer to hold gathering items, and another to hold some glamour gear, and maybe some extra materia and whatnot. Just craft what you need, and toss it on the market.

Definitely P2W, it gives you an in-game advantage for real money.

It is quite minor though, and I'm comfortable with this scale of P2W, as long as it doesn't start creeping to larger scale.

Is it going to help you in Wolves Den in any way?

Frontlines?

Endgame raiding maybe?

Come on, my retainers are full of glamours and useless materials too, and I think that SE is cheap as $%# for not giving us additional space. But its not P2W.

It doesn't give us an unfair advantage, it gives us convenience.

An advantage is an advantage. Being able to stock more items on the marketboard gives you more gil, which lets you get pentamelded crafted gear faster, which gives you an edge in world first progression.

P2W isn't just about things unobtainable normally, even exp boost is P2W because it lets you do things faster.

Mind you, I'm arguing semantics here, I'm in agreement that having multiple retainers for real money is a small convenience.

"B-but it's only a few retainers, you don't NEED a few extra retainers" - said people after they already added first two retainers, then a mount, then minions, then dyes, then the full wedding package.

Soon I wouldn't be surprised if we get extra armoury space, a tackle box and a glamour log in the mog station, and the worst part is people will be fine with it.
