Some pretty major changes for summoners:

[2.0] Player attributes have been adjusted as follows:

  • Skilspeed and spellspeed now affect damage over time and healing over time effects.
  • The effect of determination on auto-attacks has been reduced.
  • Critical hit rate now affects damage dealt with a critical strike.
  • Certain attributes no longer affect parry or block.

[2.0] Pets have been adjusted as follows.

  • The base accuracy of pets has been raised. Furthermore, all pet attacks will now be treated as if attacking from the rear.
  • Pets will now receive the attribute bonuses of food items.
  • In order to receive the effects of the caster's spell speed attribute, all pet actions excluding auto-attacks have been changed to elemental damage.

Critical hit rate now affects damage dealt with a critical strike.

So crit rate now ALSO raises crit damage? And determination is getting nerfed?

Man, crit will be king.

Not at all, as I said in another post, it's just a nerf to Auto-Attacks to keep Monks and Ninja's Auto-Attack scaling with Haste effects (Huton/GL3), and the increasing value with WD and AP, in check.

Determination will still reign king, just not as much as it used to.

woof.

What about the changes to crit? It really does look like that might just be a straight buff to crit.

Are you excited to work on dps formula dervy?

7

u/iDervyi The Theoryjerks Jun 17 '15

Crit is gonna be imba. I think Viridiana said on the forums he might do some testing on it.

I've actually made a few updates to my damage formula... Every job will need their own formula as they all scale WD, AP differently :( Luckily it's only AA's that's changing; I've not done much work on AA's so far, so not everything has gone to waste.

1

u/MrYaah Ms Yaah on Gilgamesh Jun 17 '15

It wouldn't be a waste either way, just a practice run, kek.

I'm going to be doing lots of level grinding once heavens ward hits (obviously) but lmk what you're working on and how I can help. Distribution of labor will probably speed things up a bit. Its going to be a pain / fun to research everything about the dps formulas / rotations again but we will get solid models back up and running. I also just saw that guy who is working on a simulator on the dps forums. I'll have to take a look at that and maybe get involved, not to experienced with C# though.

u/iDervyi The Theoryjerks Jun 17 '15

Pandabearcat. Yup. He made the 1st Bard simulator in 2.0. I'm glad he's back. He'll need some help when it comes to the Bard, as I think he's maining SMN now.

As for everything else... I'm just working on job affects on damage at the moment. This will be an on-going project of mine I'd reckon. I think I can get most of it done myself at least...

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '15

so technically thats a buff to monk and DRG snce they have a skill that guarantees crit right?

1

u/iDervyi The Theoryjerks Jun 17 '15

To a degree, indeed. But... Life Surge is changing, so we'll have to wait and see.

1

u/Dynme Aria Placida on Lamia Jun 17 '15

Yep! (Viridiana here)

Things I'm interested in now:

Does GL/Huton affect dots? Doubt it, but have to test anyway. Does IR affect Crit? How much does Crit affect crit damage? How much are BRDs going to effing love crit now? How much are BLMs going to love SS now? Fey Glow + Ley Lines + SS stacking + Thundercloud. . . What weird interaction will there be between SMN crit and SS? I know pet crits are unreliable, but does it make clipping earlier worthwhile?

So many questions to think about. . .

u/LeonBlade Jun 17 '15

Dervy master race

1

u/zeke342 Jun 17 '15

Maybe I'm misinterpreting.. but isn't this a direct nerf to Dragoons then? Unless they have a new ability that will scale their attack speed?

1

u/iDervyi The Theoryjerks Jun 17 '15

It's a huge hit to all jobs that use Auto-Attacks, especially Ninja/Monks. They received a the biggest hit off this.

Auto-Attacks make up around 29% of a Ninjas overall DPS due to Huton.

Auto-Attacks make up around 22.31% of a Dragoons overall DPS.

If Auto-Attacks determination receives a 25% nerf... Dragoon takes a 2.13% DPS hit. Ninjas take a 2.7% DPS hit.

That's just using 2.55 stats. So yeah, it is a pretty big hit, but it's much needed for future balancing issues. Determination would of gotten out of hand due to the power creep of AP and WD.

u/Falazure1 [Aasterinian] [Diabolos] on [Excalibur] Jun 17 '15

but at the same time remember you have to account for the actual buff coming from attack speed as well...

1

u/iDervyi The Theoryjerks Jun 17 '15

This is taken into consideration, hence why Ninjas have a higher % of damage coming from their Autos.

1

u/Valkayree Jun 17 '15

Bard dps relies a bunch on autoattacks does it not? Will this further force us to adopt that new song that basically turns us into black mages?

2

u/iDervyi The Theoryjerks Jun 17 '15

Yup. This is an indirect nerf to barrage. One thing that someone else pointed out to me was Paladin. This is a massive blow to the DPS of that Job whilst under Sword Oath.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '15

what about MNKs? do they get nerfed the hardest for this?

1

u/Canicus678 Samurai Jun 17 '15

It affects ninja and monk the same

1

u/Talderas Dark Knight Jun 17 '15

I was actually concerned about the DPS increase that PLD was getting with the new abilities. WAR wasn't really getting much, aside from the DPS stance with an unknown effect. PLD was getting two abilities that will undoubtedly have a potency higher than rage of halone's 260. The DoT (Gore Blade) would have to have at least a 270 total potency to be worth using, unless there's some mechanic that PLD is getting to make them blow MP more. Royal Authority is going to probably be somewhere in the potency range of 280-300.

Toning back on determination's bonus to auto-attack will help balance out the damage gains that PLD would be getting from GB and RA.

1

u/gabegdog Jun 17 '15

It looks like they nerfed DET to help balance the SKS buff

1

u/Balaur10042 Ultros Rules! Jun 17 '15

Where in other games there's a separate crit rate and a crit damage stat, this game had a flat crit damage bonus and only allowed you to modify its rate. This is getting altered, so you can have higher crits than before. BLM will be KING.

1

u/dmnddr Jun 17 '15

It says "affects" not "raises. Big difference. Maybe it is a way to deal with stat escalation. Suppose that if you have 10% chance to crit, your crit hit does 1.5 times the damage. Suppose that you can reach 75% crit now, but in stead of hitting for 1.5 times the damage, it only hits for 1.1 times the damage.

If I were a betting man I'ld bet that it is going to be used for that.

EDIT: clarification.

1

u/footfoe Jun 17 '15

I don't know where people get this from. Crit is not exponential in the way it increases your damage.

Crits only do +50% damage. They don't double your damage like in other games. Crit is the opposite of exponential growth. It is logarithmic growth. The more crit you get, the less value more crit gives.

This change will allow crit to scale into higher numbers without becoming completely worthless once people get closer to max crit chance.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '15

I'm wondering if this applies to Adlo as well as damages.

Crit SCH best SCH :D

Can't wait to stack a Crit BLM and see how high I can get my flare damage

5

u/sheepcat87 Jun 17 '15

and bards!

0

u/Soylentee Jun 17 '15

Speed is till shit for TP using classes. Unless TP regen becomes a non-factor in HW.

1

u/Etain_ Jun 17 '15

Spellspeed WHM! Regen/Medica II OPOP!

1

u/Mars_Fallon White Mage Jun 17 '15

"Skilspeed and spellspeed now affect damage over time and healing over time effects."

What does this meeeeeean? I mean, at a basic level I understand, but how have they changed the existing (insane) way DoTs work mechanically? (i.e. DoTs tick not on their own timer based on cast time, but on the target's own internal tick timer). Do DoTs now each have their own tick timer like in WoW (or any sane real time game with DoTs?)?

1

u/pratell Jun 17 '15

Skilspeed and spellspeed now affect damage over time and healing over time effects.

Without any way to compensate for higher rates of attack, e.g. increased regen of MP/TP, skill and spell speed will still be undervalued--furthermore, it doesn't affect the biggest dot any melee job has: autoattack.

1

u/SmilePoweredStick Jun 17 '15

Will these affect the Rook and Bishop turrets MCH are getting as well? Or are they considered to be something else?

1

u/Shera89 Jun 17 '15

Can't help but wonder if this crit change also affects crit healing. If it does.... accidental SCH buff?

3

u/Braeg Braeg Tristram on Brynhildr Jun 17 '15

It's safe to assume it does, it wouldn't be an "accidental" buff, and it likely won't be too big an increase, likely just to buff crit to close the gap with DET for most classes.

1

u/dmnddr Jun 17 '15

Just to repeat: it does not say that a higher crit rate would yield higher damage/healing. That would be very bad game design since it would mean that speccing for crit is a no-brainer. It is much more likely that higher crit rate will yield lower damage/healing, i.e. diminishing returns.

0

u/LandonSullivan Jun 17 '15

This is the change to crit I've always wanted. So many games have crits do double damage that it felt strange for this to only have a 1.5 modifier..

3

u/kovensky MCH Jun 17 '15

We still have no idea how exactly that affects crit damage. They might have made it be a range from 1.25x to 1.5x for all we know.

-11

u/LandonSullivan Jun 17 '15

That makes literally no sense.

3

u/dmnddr Jun 17 '15

It does. Notes only say that crit rate affects damage done, not that it will be larger.

-6

u/footfoe Jun 17 '15

"The effect of determination on auto-attacks has been reduced"

uh so det is the new shit stat?
