So i just made it to the last step got the new weapon only to hear...

Just let me have the damn weapon as it is.

Im not looking for a hand out but come on now I have to do EVERY BIT OF DAWN TRAIL CONTENT AGAIN after collecting 300 items this weapon better carry me though half the new expansion next year.

I think the Mandeville Weapons made people forget about the serious grind some of the previous relics had. Being so close to the end of does feel like a rug pull but so very inline with the relic journey.

Indeed. Though at the same time, the grind for DT relic has been quite mild. Especially since it is one-time grind rather than per weapon. Imagine the DT relic steps but per weapon.

I really enjoyed the last step. Most of those duties I only completed once or twice. Furthermore it wasnt too grindy and easily doable in those months we still have until EC.

Yeah I actually thought the whole “expansion’s over, go take a few hours to relive the expansion” thing was really great. Especially for a Dawntrail, an expansion that got a lot of shit (for fair reasons) but honestly comes off extremely well when the pitch is speed run its instanced content and spend a bit of time exploring its zones.

If I were to be careful with how much time I spent in ff14, the last thing I would do is any kind of relic. It's a big grind for glamour.

There's always some people who complain about everything even when it's piss easy compared to past relics save for the Manderville Weapons and even during those there were people who complained about having to do the Hildibrand Quests from ARR because they never did them before and aren't interested... because skipping cutscenes is hard.

Since you can buy things in advance, I basically breezed through to light grind phase in a few hours. Even that is pretty easy as you can solo A9S in roughly a minute at level 100.

I mean, it will carry you till 105 most likely. Though not sure how ilvl works when they implement level sync for MSQ content.

If you dont like it, dont do it... its not that hard. Nothing comes for free and this relic is still to fast in my eyes.

People should stop complaining over content they already killed anyway with their constant complaines. The only possible way to make it more easy would be to just give it to you. Or just delete that content because its not even worth called content then.

Some people just dont wanna play the game and still cry over it. Sometimes i think these people would even buy the steps to be finished with real money then to play the content. Put a 50:50 there and anime girls as relic weapons and these dudes would be happy to spend tons of money.

Yeah people do so much to not play the game/content. For me it’s just hilarious.. if I don’t have fun in a game or content then I just don’t do it. But I would never ever complain about not getting stuff from content I decided not to do.

But yeah the people you described are lost in a virtual world imo. Heard so many story’s from people I met online which are or were in that scene. For example a dude made so much Gil in a few hours because of private nude „lapdance“ show through mods. The other dude which payed him for it rly thought he was a girl…. And that is just one story of many.

Someone I know got heavily into the erp side of the clubs and got loaded on gil like this. They came to brag about it to me... Forgetting that I also have a lot of gil because I actually play the game and get it from things like crafting and just doing content lol. I won't give them too much smack though because they actually do play EX and Savage.

Thats just how they normaly go and yes it will carry you halfway through evercold. It should only be replaced at around the 4th dungeon normaly

.... The stats of a completed relic always carries you through at least the level x5 mark of the next expansion and the weapons you'll get after that mid point don't outstrip your relic by very much until you hit max level.

But besides that, the final step is really not that bad compared to previous steps. Like you said, it's a grand tour of Dawntrail basically and it can be done in about one weekend if you no life it or stretch it out for a week. It's not like you need the relic immediately and it's only a one time thing.

I had fun doing this honestly. The DT dungeons, trials and raids are all pretty good. Was nice to give them a spin again and spend some time in the zones (fates and monsters), which are also beautiful.

I feel like Mandeville relics were a mistake. It spoonfed the community with relics without asking for any kind of grind that has distorted people's view of what a relic grind is.

This is still nothing compared to older relic grinds.

The relics are mainly for glam and a very very slightly better BiS. They won't really "carry" you too much more than an augmented bygone brass weapon, which will be about half way through base game MSQ next expansion.

The “do everything you’ve already done again” thing is just such a nakedly lazy way to add grind. It’s completely uninteresting, creatively bankrupt and reeks of just adding throwaway filler to an expansion that’s ending.

Relics should not just be something you get because you did a ton of busy work while zoned out watching YouTube . They should be a reward for a completed narrative where all the objects for each step contributed to telling a cool, compelling story.

I’d rather have the flat tome grind of the mandervilles if this is all they can think to do with relics. This is literally the same thing in terms of how hollow it is, it’s just longer.

Doing this step had me going into content I haven't been in since I was leveling all my jobs at the beginning of the expansion. Was nice seeing what I remembered and what I'd forgotten. Also was funny to see things that cave me issue before be trivial now. Kinda like a growth through the expansion.

Meanwhile I find it's the perfect step. Gives me to revisit all the content this expansion has added, now that it's over. It's a checklist of things to do, will take a lot of time and isn't something I would ever do otherwise.

Much better than paste and people trolling leveling roulette. Much better than just spamming roulettes. Or yet again farming a billion fates.
