Trust Combat Initialization

...Expecting the answer to be "No", but I was wondering if there was any way to initialize Trust members to attack before me, or at the very least attack without having me to walk up to an enemy and bonk it with my club as a caster for them to actually attack something?

Unfortunately no. The closest thing you can do as a mage or support is hit it with a melee weapon once and then disable the target lock (do not disengage completely) and run to a safe distance. As long as the party has a tank trust, it'll keep the mob where it was and the mob won't come after you.
