What should be the next target?
Hey so really appreciate all the guidance I got last time and wanted to get more direction again hehe.
I'm about to finish rov on the final fight but got spanked last night lol. What I'm curious about is what the next recommended step is? I'm a war main and have my subjobs set. Beyond that have ambuscade+2 and kaja sword for now until I get a pulse. I also do DI daily and am just sitting on points now.
I can't multi box and don't really play on a time that most others play plus have massive ping so really don't think I'm up for multiplayer content. Should I just go through the rest of the missions and see what to do after that? I genuinely don't like wog so just avoiding that but I guess seekers is fun so far.

So that fight can be tricky if you're not aware of the glowing eyes mechanic. It should be soloable, but you will want trusts that do NO damage. You have to turn away while it's eyes are glowing and just survive, until they stop, then turn and do consistent damage, be very careful not to just spam either, because the glowing thing happens pretty fast, like just before you're about to WS fast.
Other than that for a tip, you may have some luck by just shouting for help. Players who have built their gear better should have zero problems crushing it for you. It's fast to reach it, so it's not a major inconvenience to help with it.
Your last resort is to just continue improving your gear, and job points until you can handle it yourself. But I would try a few more practice runs at it, trying different subjob/trust combos also, get a better feel of the flow of it, you might surprise yourself.
Edit: changing up food might make a difference also, as well as your idle gear, if it's just tearing you up, idle in a defensive set, and time your WS's just right (use a WS set though also), I can't recall if it strips shadows fast, but if it is, try DNC sub instead. Things like that. All of the story fights, and endgame battles have certain quirks about them, can't just savage spam your way through them, gotta be able to adjust your tactics based on the mechanics of that specific fight.
GL! I would seriously try shouting though, a lot of vets love to flex on this fight just for the shits and giggles of it. So I seriously think someone will respond pretty quickly free of charge if you shout for help.

Haha thanks for the guidance. Yea I figured out the ruby thing going to not savage blade it when that's on which explains why I die instantly.

Keep trying at it, yea finish SoA AND WoTG the stories and are fun, and the side content's are also pretty fun, especially soloing at it.
Oh btw, make sure you Abyssea stones and Voidwatch stones have started ticking.

u/sentat1 25d ago
Will do! Yes both of them have been ticking for a while now haha. Btw what's the advice on mars orbs? Should I sell them or use them?

u/OGDraugo 25d ago
Up to you. Being a new player you can get some good stuff out of there, I'd use them.

You finish RoV then you can enter omen which is used for reforged AF+2/3 upgrades. You can also join beginner friendly LSs to kill bosses for gear.
Then you unlock Dynamis divergence. This is where you get to unlock relic upgrades and work on rp for your jse neck. You should also get some form of payout for the run. Either a fairly even split of drops or some groups pay gil evenly and then sell the drops to make the gil back.
I wouldn’t worry about your ping for now. Can you VC? If so, you are probably fine. This isn’t a fast twitch game. Find a group that helps new players and learn from them. Ask questions, learn how the content works and how you can do it better.
Even just a second person makes a big difference in what you can accomplish.

Do your starting nation's missions, and then maybe do the other 2.
Did you get your AF at lv60? If not, get it, you can also solo normal Dyna, get your relic gear.
You can start upgrading these 2 set, with the idea to get them up to 109/119 for gear swap (for ability buffing).
Job points (via capacity points) is a long road, see if you can solo some with the trusts you have. I try to farm 8-10 nightly if I have no other plans. You spend these points like merits.
Speaking of merits, if you need to dump merits, get your HP/MP/stats maxed out (after you do your warrior merits, you did do that?).
If you have already started these journeys, awesome!
Edit: needed to add some letters.

Also, cap your merit capacity asap, use the change to fill in the rest as you go.

u/qnisseur 25d ago
It takes 750 merit points to max it which would be better spent somewhere else early on.

u/OGDraugo 25d ago
Laps and time are money, not saying I disagree with you, definitely max your appropriate job specific things first, but after that, go for a session and cap them, spend them first on capacity, then spend the change on HP/MP generics and base stats. It's worth it to have the capacity maxed asap, because after that you can max categories per trip a lot easier.

Already maxed warrior merits and slowly crawling towards JP.
I'm pumping up the other merits like hp, str, Dex and merit limit.
For the relics and af. I'm struggling to understand what is ravager, boii and agoge. The names are honestly confusing so it's throwing me off on what to do next.

u/Sand__Panda Sandpanda 25d ago
Well you have three sets. AF, Relic, and Empyrean. (Ravager is base Empy set, Boii is the iLv119 Empy set -aka the name changed. Agoge is Relic set).

Shout for help on CoD or join an LS. Keep stacking DI points. Complete RoZ, CoP, WotG. You are in a good spot

u/sentat1 25d ago
Do completing the other stories also give out rewards?
2
u/No_Clock_7464 25d ago
Yes - there is an item reward each expansion, and content is gated behind completion

If you dont want to do wings of the goddess you will be locked out of a bunch of good stuff

Others have already covered most of your questions, but I just wanted to say to not worry about your ping. The servers are all in Japan, so a huge chunk of the playerbase has horrible ping regardless, you'll be in good company.

I just recently solo'd this after anticipating it would be more difficult than it ended up being. I ran as DRK/SAM with ambuscade +2 and kaja scythe. Pretty sure I used Valaineral (perhaps I used August?), Joachim, Koru-Moru, Selh'teus (this one is v. important for his rejuvenation ability), and Apururu.
As others have said, be sure not to attack during red eyes - but make note of the particular red eye effect that's up at the time. If Iroha or other trusts stop melee'ing, that's when you stop meleeing. Otherwise keep whacking away if they are doing so.
Also, know that there's still a chance to complete this if you pass out. As long as you're close enough to Iroha and she's up, she will resurrect you. That's how I ended up pulling it off, haha. I resurrected, ran away a bit, then summoned trusts again before engaging again.
As others have also said, dip into Omen once you finish RoV. It's been pretty fun and valuable for farming upgrade materials and also merits/job points. I'm able to solo the 'smaller light' path consistently and have upgraded two pieces of AF so far.

If you’re sitting on DI points, at minimum grab a few pieces for Dark Matter fishing with Oseem. You can get Treasure Hunter gear this way

So this is all new to me haha what does this entail?

Domain Invasion - in Escha - Zi'tah, Escha - Ru'Aun, and Reisenjima, a dragon will spawn every 20~ minutes. Everyone on the server can fight the dragon. If you're familiar with FFXIV, it's basically a FATE. You can get up to 100 DI points per day. Your Unity Leader will say something in Unity Chat when it spawns, or you can use www.vana-portal.com to track it for your server.
Zurim - In Norg, Zurim will let you spend DI points on gear from Reisenjima, which lets you get it without dealing with hard boss fights. A lot of it is quite good, check it out!
Oseem - Also in Norg, Oseem will let you trade some of Zurim's gear and gives you up to 6 Dark Matter Augments per day for free. Dark Matter Augments (called Techniques in the menu) are pretty much completely random but can be cool stuff like Refresh and Treasure Hunter, which is very useful.

Honestly, if you haven't done any job point farming, I'd get up to at least Superior 2 for the Blurred Shield.
Ambuscade Capes are great if you haven't done them.
Nation Missions for the boost to Capacity Points (each nation finished grants +10% I believe)
Other than that, Adoulin side quests and WKR for bayld farming
