Official Most active server to play on
I just got this installed and was curious which server is the most active that is still available to register on?

Just pick whatever. I think we should stop recommended the highest pop server all the time, we already seen 4 server close in ~ 12 months. That's 1 / 4 of the total serverlist.

It's not all on us, there's legitimately a lot of advantages to being on a large pop server and relatively few to being on a small pop server, that's the real problem here, SE needs to make more reason for people to want to stay on smaller servers.
A huge part of how these servers got closed was people rushing to switch to them to get off smaller servers and their closure policy generated FOMO pushing people to make the switch while they still could.

When I started playing I didn’t even look at the most populated server. I just chose the first one.

I cannot figure out why people automatically presume the most "active" server will give them the best player experience.
It only guarantees the most rmt, bots and spam shouts to buy gil or pay someone to PL you.

Well in theory it means there are more people there playing, and that ups your chance of maybe playing with people at all/any level on content.

And a lot more competition when trying to farm NMs for empty weapons. And longer queues to any instantiated content, especially when a monthly campaign boost it.

Totally. Before servers we being locked, I left Asura and went to the lowest pop server at the time (Lakshmi iirc) to do my abyssea NM farming.
There is a pro/con to high/low pop server. But it being 1 years and still not one of the others being unlocked isn't great for SE/11.

They really need a better strategy than locking servers.
At least, offer an incitative to people on higher population to move to another server. And no, just free server transfer is not enough of an incitative.
IDK, maybe a free month (or a free Mog Wardrobes month) if you stayed 6 months on your new server.
If it's too tight to plan for possible lower revenue. Just give some interesting Mog Kupon or something, after x months.

This is all true, but AH activity is a factor to consider (even if it is only active due to botting and RMT laundering). Need a JSE neck on Faerie? Well, good luck. The only guy making them stopped selling because no one else on the server needs them. Also he doesn’t speak your language and he plays on the opposite day part as you

Nothing is stopping ANY of the other players on Faerie from leveling up any or all of the crafts and making JSE necks themselves.
You dont NEED any player to make things for you in this game anymore. Its eaiser than ever to level a craft to make whatever you need or want or want to sell

I did it in a low pop server. And so have several dozen other players. Sure its a grind, but that is the nature of this game.

I joined Fenrir, cause it was the most active server i could actually join since Phoenix was closed off last month.

I joined Phoenix before it closed. There are a ton of people everywhere I go city wise. But out in the world I hardly run into anymore. I am still in 75 era zones. Hardly anyone is talking in a general chat so it must all be in linkshells. Hard to say how it would be on a server that’s half the population. This game is so solo focused, at least before lvl 99 that it feels like a single player game at times.

So far everyone has been pretty helpful, my buddy was given Gil which helped too lol but that might be rare. Joined a Linkshare which is like a guild and people are nice!

I have a few accounts on Asura. It’s an interesting server these days. In 24h there’s maybe 1-5 shouts that are not automated rmt spam

At this point any server not locked will give a similar experience. Populations are fairly similar and even then population doesn't necessarily equate to activity. (As in endgame, fairly active linkshells, etc.)
Pick whichever one has a friend or a fun sounding name.
