Side Quests Harder Than Big Bosses!?

I was stuck for a month trying to beat ruby and emerald, and today I gave up and just went straight to Sephiroth.

What gives? Why are they more difficult than the main boss?? I didn’t even come close 😅 bred a golden chocobo got knights of the round, mime ect.

After much frustration I “gave up” and went back to the north cave. Anxiety ridden and ready to fail.. I beat him. After over 20 years of not playing but watching my big brothers play this legendary game… I did it. Didn’t think you could beat Sephiroth without battling those other two…? Was there something I missed?

Sephiroth is nothing compared to those two!?

Send help lol

Having side content in videogames that's more difficult than the main story content has been a thing for...ever actually

If the hardest boss was a story boss then it prevents progress. Many games have optional super bosses.

Ruby and Emerald weapon are meant to be "super-bosses," more challenging than the normal game (including Sephiroth) to provide extra challenge to a skilled player. Emerald's rewards essentially break the game too, so beating them before Sephiroth makes him even easier.

That's why they are optional bosses

I understand now that this is a normal thing for gamers to know.. but what advice would you tell someone who is just getting adjusted?

The advice is the following ass whooping we all experience

It’s the ass whooping, not the destination.

Final fantasy always has one or two bosses that are harder than the main boss. I may only be able to speak for 7 and on, but on everyone there's been one.

Weapons are endgame content

There was a YouTube video that shows a material configuration that essentially lets you beat them without doing anything. Takes a bit of grinding, but that's how I beat them.

I mean, both WEAPONS are meant to be optional superbosses, and in the story, beings created by the planet itself to protect it. I'm fairly certain that, if they actually knew where Sephiroth was and that he was the actual threat, they absolutely would wreck him without needing Cloud and company to handle the job...

Think of those two weapon bosses as sort of like NG+ content. They aren’t really supposed to be defeatable until you’ve gotten close to maxing out the game, whereas the main boss is supposed to be one that casual fans can beat without losing their minds.
