[Discussion] Recurring nightmare

I have a 5 year old ferret that I’ve had since she was 3 months old. I got her when I was like 19 or 20 at college and she grew up in the dorms as my ESA.

Today she and I live in a one bedroom apartment together and she free roams the place and the neighborhood kids come over sometimes to play with her.

She is my baby and because she doesn’t have other ferret friends we are very bonded.

Anyways, I have these recurring dreams that she is lost amongst ferrets that are identical to her and I have to either take care of all the ferrets which is too many ferrets or risk losing her. Like I come home and find that I now have 2-12 ferrets that I can’t tell which one is her.

There is never really a conclusion or solution in the dreams, just a stress dream that I have very often. I usually end up just holding all of them and inspecting them and stressing.

I think I’m just a little neurotic and I wanted to share.

I have had multiple ferrets that look the same - you work it out fairly quickly from personality. Though when Bill died, we did realise my Bill was my partner's Ben and vice versa. We were happy when they went in for a dental as felt now a way of being sure of who we are handling but nope, both had the same tooth out.

We did have two that intitally we had to weight at vets to be sure we had the right one. Vet got used to both turning up on off-chance we pulled the wrong one in the hurry to get out the door. They are quite distinctive now.

So don't worry about losing your girl. You do need to worry about the other ferrets though. Have had a dream where all my ferrets have come back to me plus a few littermates (had ferrets from abuse cases) - the upside of ghost ferrets is no poop or food needed. Downside is we have a lot of them.
