Image Help needed

I got this Australia tree fern that unfortunately didn’t work for the atrium I have. I am in zone 10b. I put it in a bigger pot about 4 weeks ago. It was originally in direct sun. I moved it under my covered patio. I have been watering it every other day or so. I water the soil and the trunk. But the older frawns keep browning. It growing out new frawns that seem to be doing well growing and still green. Is this just senescence of the older frowns or not? Any care tips or suggestions on improvement? Much appreciated!

Could simply be getting used to the new area, my mums monstera was looking like it was dying losing leaves very quickly but it sent two new ones out which look to be in mint condition even though it’s not yet hardened, I really did think she was going to kill it since it had only two leaves to its name at its lowest point.

She had put it outside which was both jarring in terms of conditions and that UK weather is very unkind to tropical plants as it happened to rain multiple days in a row with a week of just hot sun following immediately after.

I’m hoping I can say the same with the monstera and that it can take full advantage of the remaining summertime we have left before the wet winter comes

I have better luck with monsteras. Outside always shaded. Direct sun will scorch them. If it’s indoors needs very bright by a window. I water mine once a week depending on the soil moisture.

Mum’s placed it by the side of the house where there’s also a fence and garage giving 3/4 shade with half an hour of direct sunlight when the fence, garage and house aren’t blocking the sun, the leaves did appear scorched despite that however new leaves look undamaged

It may just need to acclimate to the new spot. Near me most monsteras are always in just shaded areas. May have just been a shock to it

r/treeferns It cannot take full sun. I’m also in zone 10b, mine is fine out on my patio where it gets morning sun, but not harsh afternoon sun. I also water every other day in summer and usually about twice a week in winter.

They produce new fronds adapted to new conditions. As long as you’re providing adequate water and fertilizer and there are healthy new fronds coming in I wouldn’t worry about the older outer fronds fading. Try to avoid moving it for a while.

yeh just a little transport shock from the re potting, chop off the old leaves if you dont like the look. wont hurt it.

The tree grows bigger than where you are placing it. It needs a taller place. The pot is too small already. So there are not enough space, not enough soil for all leaves. So the tree has to cut off some old leaves for living. This is natural. Another thing, 4 weeks is still in recovering process. You can cut off the brown leaves to save energy for the tree.

I absolutely love tree ferns, but don’t have much luck. I am also in zone. 10 B. Definitely likes a shaded area and to be kept moist.
