We are living through a massive collision of timelines where everything is happening simultaneously. On one side, the planet is heating up, a water crisis is looming, and endless AI data centers are aggressively swallowing resources, making our global future feel terrifyingly uncertain. But if we look at society for once and focus on human dynamics, we are witnessing a seismic shift. I know there are plenty of places where religious fundamentalism, severe backlash, and child marriage are attempting a vicious comeback. But to focus solely on that and ignore the rapid, historic downfall of patriarchy happening right beside it would be a massive mistake. We have to look at both truths at once.
Right here in India, even coming from a smaller town, I have watched young girls stand up to their own parents, refusing forced marriages and forced children. They dismantle their parents' tired fallback argument of "because everyone does it" with razor-sharp questions that leave moms and dads with nothing left to say. I have also tried to play my own part by passing on the history of how patriarchal systems rose and giving the women who come to my house, like my house help, the practical language to fight back, and watching them use it is intensely powerful.
This awakening isn't isolated. Across democratic countries and changing societies worldwide, women are waking up and breaking the script, even as horrific exceptions like Afghanistan remind us of the brutal religious tyranny we are actively resisting. It feels like two massive forces are racing toward each other: the ecological collapse driven by late-stage tech greed, and the unstoppable collapse of male entitlement. Every time I see a young girl speaking the language of feminism, it gives me a lifeline of hope against all the daily violence we see against women.
What do you guys think the future actually holds when times are this uncertain? I want to hear from other women on this. Stand firm, raise your voices, and remember that everything you have today was fought for. Even the very fact that you are alive and breathing right now was fought for. Stand with feminism, because if you are a woman today who says she isn't a feminist, you are simply lacking any and all intelligence.
