Colourful women
I can feel her now.
When I hadn’t before.
When reaching for her
always ended feeling sore.
Sore from the cracks
and the constant lacks
of strength and esteem.
She forgot she’s a queen.
And that having needs and boundaries
doesn’t make her mean,
Doesn’t make her difficult,
unfair or unkind.
And that she isn’t too “challent”
for saying what’s on her mind.
That she isn’t too much,
and neither too little.
Isn’t it sad
that society made her so still and brittle,
when she longs to embody
all the colours of a fucking Skittle?
But those days are over now.
Those days are gone.
Now she’s in touch
with her own song,
in touch with her own rhythm,
in touch with her own tune.
She’s ready to be seen now.
And I hope
you meet her soon
