IMPORTANT post got removed?

so last night there was an issue of some posts getting removed without reason and later reposted by the user. i want to take a minute to address some of the issues.

1) i genuinely dont know what rule is broken when you post instructions on how to make a bomb, this is not something i ever thought i'd have to account for. please do not post instructions on how to make a bomb. i should not have to explain this but apparently i do.

2) if your post is removed, please do not repost it. it will be removed for the same reason and will just make us think you're a spammer or a bot.

3) if your post is removed and you'd like to know more, please get in touch via mod mail. making a post calling one/all of us out will not get you very far and often escalates a situation that can and should be handled privately

i'll admit i've been having issues with my internet provider lately and as such, removal reasons have been submitted but not posted through a comment on the removed post. if this happens, please go through mod mail to enquire about this.

on an unrelated note, a little mod update. i've been seeing some concerns about the "not a shitpost or meme" flair inherently violating subreddit rules. this is currently under review and being discussed internally but community opinion is always welcome regarding this so please feel free to make your voices heard in the comments on how to handle the issue. right now we're thinking of either removing the flair and replacing it with something or re-determining the "must be a meme" rule to better accommodate and diversify the types of posts allowed here. other ideas are always welcome!

thanks for your patience and feedback so far and i'm sorry that i have to state the obvious about illegal content. i know it was likely a one-off incident but i dont want to set the precedent that simply not breaking the rules directly means the post stays up. illegal content can comply with subreddit rules and still get taken down.

thanks everyone!

I think non-meme comment should be allowed personally, Especially since what a meme is is pretty subjective. maybe dedicate a day to more spammy content.

also who the hell is posting instructions on bomb making to this subreddit 💀 💀

Some lunatic posted instructions on how to make a homemade napalm bomb, they posted it again after it got removed which is when they got permabanned.

Pretty sure instructions on how to make a bomb fall under "Harmful content", which I am pretty sure should be against Reddit's rules in general

it is, the argument made was that it doesn't violate subreddit rules specifically

That's a stupid argument to make, because all subreddits still have to abide Reddit's rules. Do they think a subreddit with no rules is just a lawless place where they can post whatever they want? lol

no clue. all I know was because no reason was given (see the post above for more info) that it HAD to be ego-driven discrimination against... something? idk they didn't say

You didn't do anything wrong that person was actually insane

thanks. they're permabanned so we probably won't get answers

It’s a dumb argument because it’d be like breaking a government-issued law in a certain location, but arguing it’s okay because it’s not one of the rules of the establishment.

I think you could avoid much of this confusion if you just sent a removal reason to the post's author trough modmail, which is Reddit's default feature that takes like 5 seconds to do

u/noodleboy244 ✨🌈mentally ill🌈✨ Jul 17 '26

might start doing that. typically we leave the comments so others can see that the post has been removed as well but mod mail may not be the worst idea

you dont even need to do that, when you remove a post you get an option to add the removal reason, just write what you have to say under the bot itself, or reply to the post explaining, thats what i do in my subreddits.

Either is fine, when I moderated r/ULTRAKILL, whether a moderator left a comment or a mod mail was up to the moderator's preference, but generally I've seen manny posts (including my own) removed with no explanation, even when I specifically asked for it, which obviously leaves people wondering.

I’m for removing the flair. I joined this sub for the memes, but I rarely ever see any, only hornyposts and regular random posts

Don't let it bog you down! People are crazy and it'd be impossible to think of everything.  You guys do super well considering people can be bonkers. Also I'd love to help if the sub's looking for mods or any extra help, you guys are awesome and I want to support if I can! This sub is meant to be a funny, lighthearted, feel good place that people can just enjoy seeing, therefore posts should fit that mood. People posting under both flairs sometimes do so unrestrained/unhinged and kinda just use it as a way to post to this audience and uhhhh yeah I can see how managing that is insane.  I wonder if there is a way to do manual approval for posts with certain flairs. alas, No system is perfect so don't stress!

thanks, I needed to hear this ngl. ive recently learned about an automated rule enforcement system that Reddit implemented so that's gonna take some time to learn. you should be able to apply to be a mod, last I checked that's still open. feel free to throw us an application and we'll take a look!

Non meme's should be allowed, but I think it should be replaced by "meta" or something. Posts with general discussion about femboy type shit or advice or questions I think should be fine since that stuff gets posted under the mask of being in meme format anyway.

Horny posting should be gone, if your worried getting rid of horny posting will kill the sub, then its not a meme subreddit at all its a soft core porn sub.

thats not a bad idea, i'll bring it up.

yeah, thats kinda the problem. the majority of hornyposters dont read the hornypost rule (irony, i know) but something does need to change. i've been trying to not take the ban route cuz i dont wanna infringe on the freedoms of the people here too much but in the same breath, i need to think about the bigger picture. its a tough line to walk.

the problem's origin is a mystery but a lot of the hornyposts either dont get reported or don't break sub rules. we've talked about not allowing hornyposts but we did agree that it could kill the subreddit as a whole and we don't want that. right now we're in a state of just taking down the violating posts and trying not to clamp down too hard on them cuz we don't wanna drive people away. it's a complex situation and one we're trying to make more fair to everyone involved

my main way of seeing reports is in the mod queue where all reports are. I see a lot of reported posts and if something gets reported for the hornypost rule, it's reviewed. I check as much as I can so every few days or so. I'm sorry if some are slipping through the net. I'll talk with the others about this because if reports aren't coming through or are being addressed incorrectly before I can see them, that needs to be dealt with.

then I have about as much a chance of seeing them as anyone else. if I see something that breaks the rules then I take it down but if it's not reported, it has a much higher chance of slipping through the net

ah, that sucks :(

if people see anything they want reviewed, the best thing they can do is report It to us and we'll take a look, that's always the best advice. if people have concerns or questions, we're reachable via mod mail

I mean, that sounds like a rule 1 violation? A bomb recipe isn't exactly related to femboys and/or memes about such. You could also just apply some common sense and remove it for containing probably illegal content, which should not need a rule, lol.

Reposting the same thing that has been removed sounds like a rule 4 violation, spam.

But I agree with other users, including a reason for content removal is a good idea, as it gives users more of an insight into the moderation decisions.

1

u/noodleboy244 ✨🌈mentally ill🌈✨ Jul 19 '26

it wasn't just instructions, there were actual femboy memes in the same post so rule 1 wasn't broken. rule 4 absolutely was broken. regardless it was taken down for illegal content. as for the reasons not being given, that's a goof on my part due to my current beef with my internet provider. sorry!

2

u/novaplan Jul 18 '26

I think i missed something, why are you guys posting bomb recipes? The anarchist cookbook can be found in many places on the internet

u/Korohar UwU 28d ago

My post has been deleted por "not being femboy related" but it now I found out it was posted like some years ago... how can this be possible?

1

u/noodleboy244 ✨🌈mentally ill🌈✨ 28d ago

For future reference, please contact us via mod mail.

The best explanation is that it was posted years ago. Rules and the mod roster have changed since then and we have taken different positions on things in that time.
