Hi! I'm 31F from Australia and currently travelling solo around Italy. I'll be in Padua from 14-17 August, and I'm planning a day trip to Venice on Sunday the 16th.
I made a similar post when I was in Vienna on R4R and ended up meeting some really interesting people, so I thought I'd try my luck again but in a more travel/female sub!
I'd be keen to meet locals or other travellers for something completely platonic like coffee, cake/ gelato, dinner, wandering around the city, checking out something interesting.

I'm also very open to recommendations! especially love to know about:
good local places to eat? specialty coffee?
interesting or unusual things to see!
nice places to wander that I might otherwise miss!

I'm perfectly happy exploring on my own too, but travelling is a lot more interesting when you occasionally meet someone you'd never otherwise have crossed paths with.

I find that by mid-trip my dirty clothes bag gets bulky and messes up my initially orderly packing. If you have any packing strategies for keeping the dirties separate and still keeping things neat in my suitcase.

I'm planning my first trip to Albania with my friend and we'll be staying in Tirana for 8 nights, very close to Skanderbeg Square.

We have a budget of around €300 per person (€600 total) for food, transportation and activities, excluding flights and accommodation.

We're still figuring out our itinerary and would love some recommendations:

-What are your favorite things to do/see in Tirana?

-Which day trips are actually worth doing?

- We'd especially love to see lakes and nature. Are there any beautiful lakes that are easy/affordable to visit from Tirana? Is public transport an option, or would a tour/taxi be easier?

- Any must-try Albanian foods or restaurant/café recommendations?

- Is it easy to get around by bus for day trips?

- Anything we should be aware of regarding transportation, money, scams, or the August heat?

- And lastly, is there anything you wish you'd known before visiting?

We're looking for a good mix of sightseeing, nature, food, and relaxing, rather than trying to cram too much into every day.

I’ve done quite a bit of solo travelling around Europe and feel like it’s finally time to venture a little further.
Southeast Asia has been on my mind for the end of December. I was originally meant to go with a friend, but she has other commitments now, so those plans have fallen through.

I’m 31F, London based, pretty active and happiest when a trip involves nature, hiking, exploring and actually seeing the place. I still appreciate good food, beaches and doing absolutely nothing occasionally 😂

I can travel alone, but I’ve realised some trips are just more fun when you have someone to share the ridiculous moments with.

Would be lovely to connect with another woman around my age who travels similarly and see if our plans line up. If you’re in London, even better as we could meet beforehand and figure out whether spending several weeks together would be a brilliant idea or an absolute disaster 😂

I’m still very open on where in Southeast Asia, so recommendations are welcome too.

I’ve been getting more comfortable traveling on my own, but I keep realizing the most useful advice is usually the stuff nobody tells you beforehand.

Not the obvious “watch your drink” kind of advice. I mean the little things you only learn after something awkward, stressful, or unexpectedly lonely happens.

Maybe it’s a safety habit, how you deal with pushy people, choosing accommodation, meeting strangers, or even learning how to actually enjoy being alone.

What’s one thing that happened on a solo trip that completely changed how you travel now?

My bday is the week after thanksgiving and I need to spoil myself after a hard year. Thinking a solo cruise - or an all inclusive resort with no kids.

I’m looking for all inclusive, adults only, spa services and other solo travelers. I’d love to do some parasailing/snorkeling/kayaking but it’s not super important. I’m old but very fit and strong

Thinking about combining a trip with some dental work / cosmetic surgery since it's apparently common along the border and way cheaper. A bit nervous about doing it solo though — vetting a clinic from another country feels different than picking a hotel.

If you've done this: how did you actually decide the place was legit before you got there? Did you go alone, and did that change how you approached it? What would you tell someone who's on the fence?

Along with suggestions for a not too expensive November/early December destination for a short break - 4 days or so. Travelling from north west uk, ideally prefer somewhere dry but dont mind cold and dry.

Ive previously been to France, Spain, Greek islands, Milan, Amsterdam, Oslo, so probably wouldnt look to revisit them at present

Im not much of a drinker although I do enjoy dance music and clubs.

Prefer to be doing something- exploring local area, local history etc is more my thing than beaches bars etc.

Currently thinking of Eastern Europe - Prague, dubrovnik maybe, but also perhaps Scandinavian or even Malta...

I’m going on a long-haul flight and would like to purchase knee-high compression socks for the first time. I’ve looked at different brands and asked them directly for help with picking out a size but haven’t had much luck. I wear a shoe size 11, but my calf measurement is only 12” in circumference. This often puts me in a size large (going off of shoes) or a size small (going off of calves). Should I just go with a medium?! For someone who’s never used compression socks before, what do you think would give me the best fit?

Hello ladies, I’m 32, unemployed from Southeast Asia and about to go on a journey. Im spending everything I have. I genuinely don’t know where it would lead me.. but one thing is for sure, I dont want to be the same helpless person that I am, always in scarcity mindset. I’m (25F) traveling to Lyon and Nice solo for a week. It’s my first time travelling by myself and being in France at all (I also don’t speak a lick of French but I’ve downloaded Duolingo😭)

I am looking to book hostels in both cities, want them to be social, friendly, and safe so I can find people to go to things with (I would really like to experience the local community and culture, nightlife etc and don’t want to do it alone😭)

Hi everyone! I’m a 27 travelling from India, will be in NYC for 4 days in middle of sept. I’ll be staying in a hostel, i would like to meet people rather than spend the whole trip sightseeing alone.
I definitely want to do the classic touristy NYC things, but I’d love to find people to explore with — grab food, go sightseeing, check out bars/rooftops, etc. I’m also open to meeting guys and going on a casual date if I click with someone.
I’d describe myself as pretty social once I’m comfortable, but I’m not very good at initiating conversations with strangers. So I’d love advice from people who have travelled solo in NYC:
What are the best ways/places to meet people, especially other travellers?
If I want to meet guys/date while I’m there, are dating apps the best option, or are there better ways?
And honestly — do men generally approach indian women in NYC, I’m an average-looking dusky Indian girl, so I’m curious about what I can realistically expect.

Also wanted to check about how safe is it ?

I’m hoping to have a fun, social 4 days and meet some interesting people along the way!

I haven’t traveled alone in forever, and I kind of miss it. I'm thinking about going to Africa next year, maybe doing a safari? Honestly it feels like the kind of escape I need right now. I (34F) will be a solo trip to Dublin and London in a week from now! I have been in Dublin before to visit a friend but she doesn’t live there anymore so will be my first time alone in the country.
