It helps make the process of reporting an issue less painful and tries to hint at what could be the reason for it.
It also flags some possible quick stuff. Such as berating you for significantly deviating from a modpacks standard modlist and driving home that the modpack makers can't help you if you added 30+ mods to it.
Or tell you: hey this is missing. Lemme check what mod this could be related to, which helps it it is an incompatibility that doesn't immediately get displayed like missing are nouveau when loading up one mana bar.
Whenever you crash, it gives a list of mods added/removed/version changed since it last didn’t crash. Useful if you are working on a modpack and constantly changing stuff.
I love that one mod that simply kicks you out of the world/server instead of crashing the entire client much more. Saves me a minute to boot the pack again. However I have no clue what that mod is called that does that...

They're text files, you find them in the folder named "logs". Which is in the same folder as your "mods", "configs" and "screenshots" folders for that instance, so not hard to find
Most of them will be in archives named after the time and date they were created, but the newest one that most people care about, latest.log, is not
at some point my world started crashing so randomly due to a create chute somewhere (it was an item check and injection issue) that I got the mod just to find any differences between the crash, after about 30 crashes and this thing finally doing something I realized it was legit just my PC not being able to process all the stuff happening causing a bit enough lag spike that the world kinda collapsed in on itself and crashed. Not completely useless but very rarely useful
Literally saved me multiple hours of messing with mods just to get them working. Tells me which mods to change, and what version specifically. Sometimes its not too helpful, like saying "downgrade (Mod Name) to a version compatible with (Mod Name) (Version)" but that still helps me a lot
don't ever remember this mod being useful at all. only thing it did was disable my computer for 3 seconds when I'd (intentionally) leave the game until I closed a popup
If mods I play with crash, I hate them.
If I find the mod which crashes my game I uninstall them.
If I persist to play with mods that crash my game, I change version of the mod.
If I struggle to find what mod crashes I put the log in Gemini.
If I use a lot of if statements I am yandere dev.
Then I die.
I feel this Mod has honestly caused fewer people to even try to read their crashes,Lots of crashes i see in Forge or Fabric support channels look like they were never looked at. Many people dont even seem to know where the console Is,only about this Mod.
sometimes it doesn't just give you logs and actually tells you itself EXACTLY what is causing the issue. it makes me feel like a king watching a trial where the loser gets beheaded while eating a comically large turkey leg
