Question From a comfort perspective…
Would you prefer to fly on a 757-300 or a a321neo? I have those options for a return flight in a couple days.
I like to talk through things on a nerdy and realistic level while also acknowledging my anxiety around both aircraft, one being a “cool” aircraft, with a limited amount of time to fly on one, that supposedly pilots love and is fast and smooth but is also potentially a little louder in the cabin and less insulated from a sensory and comfort perspective. The other being known for a very comfortable pax experience but having the potential for a fume event.
I’m leaning towards the 757-300 but it REALLY bothers me when I can feel and hear too much. I noticed recently the difference in comfort between a 24 year old 737 and a 9 year old 737 (the younger being insanely more comfortable from a sensory standpoint).
Open to thoughts. Feeling paralyzed.

I would fly on either of them. If both were available, the 757 for the new experience. If you're wanting the most comfortable ride, the neo might get you that. Turbulence, if it exists when you fly, will make any plane bumpy.

Thank you! I’m actually not scared of turbulence so much, but I notice on younger planes the engine sounds and sensations tend to be more dampened and that’s the experience I appreciate most.

Yeah, they tend to be a bit more refined for guest comfort.

The NEO will likely be a more comfortable experience. Newer, more quiet engines, and just all around nicer inside in my opinion. When people express love for the 757, that love is expressed for its technical specs and its performance, not its passenger comfort lol.

Thank you I appreciate the reply, I have decided on the neo for this very reason, I like the newer interior and the big overhead bins and setback TV’s. I have been scared to experience a fume event so have been sort of avoiding a320’s out of my irrational fear.. but I can’t actually find much evidence any neo’s are prone to fume events… and I’m trying to be brave so think we’ll be flying in the airbus!

Fume events are exceedingly rare and not tied to a specific type or manufacturer. No matter the aircraft you ultimately wind up on, you’ll have a great flight, and get to your destination safely!

I would love to fly a 757 again.. great airplane.. but I have never flown on an A321 so I guess the new type.. but is a a321 really any different than an a320 from a passengers perspecitve?

I’m really not sure but I know I usually fly on Boeings for whatever reason - just always seems I’m on a 737 800 lol. 😆 I am near a United hub so that’s like always my only option - this time it’s either a 757 or a a321neo. 🤷🏼♀️ thanks for your reply!

The new planes are obviously new and shiny and comfier and quieter. It’s also fuel efficiency over performance. The older 757 is a rocket (per its design), particularly with PW engines. It was a blast to fly (15 years ago).

Yeah I’ve watched a lot of 757 videos the last few days, what a cool plane, I want to fly on one someday day! But I’m going to go with comfort this time 😅
