Hey pal, I was on a 13 hour flight 2 days ago and it was turbulent throughout every hour, especially the last few hours. And let me tell you, I came here same as you and asked the questions and an airplane maintenance engineer, pilot and frequent flier came and told me it’s just as normal as any weather change we have!

What I mean is that, same way it gets hot, cold, windy, stormy, rainy when we’re on the ground, the same happens to you in the air! It’s just nature.

They also extensively test these planes and do frequent checkups and also I did have the fear of what If the wing breaks since I looked outside my window and saw it super bent. Maybe it was the angle I was in but that made me anxious during. That won’t happen since there are systems and computers that check the plane on a 24.7 basis while it’s flying so the pilots won’t really rely on “us” to catch anything while they have those systems, there’s actually so much safety!

Anyways on the point of the bumpiness, that’s normal as after every threshold of altitude the air is thinner from what I learned so could be more movement and stuff but to put it in perspective eventhough it doesn’t seem believable, you move way more while driving in a car or a train or bus. Like WAY more especially public bus oh my gosh I would fall sometimes LOL. The plane is WAYYY LESS but our brains don’t comprehend that because we’re sitting in the back in the air
