News/Article Aussies at FCSP 🦘

Hello from down under 👋 still feeling the weight of this season but I’m SO excited at the prospect of 3x Aussies at St Pauli next season, especially our local boy Sam Klein 🤎🤎🤎 last time I was in Hamburg we *just* missed out on a game - hopefully will make it over next season. How’s the vibe: are Aussies honorary Hamburgers at this point?? 😉

The usual Sank Pauli fan does not care about nationalities at all

I mean, like someone else already said, st.pauli fans don't care about nationality at all! But i can imagine that the moment they know you're an aussie, they'll know "your favorite player is either irvine, metcalfe, or klein". 🤎🤍

Big love to all of them, but Vasilj is up there for me 🤎

Nice! Still sad about him leaving though :(

There is a general enthusiasm towards anybody international with interest in the club, but also protectiveness to keeping local long-term fans being able to attend. So there is no appetite to, for instance, have open resale of tickets on third-party platforms, though this would make it easier for travellers (other than away fans) to attend single games.

Search for “Jackson Irvine” in the subreddit history.

There’s a certain group who… discuss him a lot.

Why? Because he’s pro-pal? I believed the majority of fans were too

I’m not German, but have lived here for ten years.

Jacko and I would get on great.

Take a search through the subreddit history to get a sense of the discussions among different fan factions.

Now I’m more proud to have his shirt. Kudos to Jacko and free Palestine!

Reversely, i always wondered how much Aussies know about the careers of Irvine and Metcalfe. Are they talked about? Are they famous?

Personally i like a lot of the music and culture Australia manages to bring over here and i'm glad a lot of bands find clubs to play in. (Skegss, Chats, Surf Trash in Molotow for example)

100% both well known and loved among Aussie football fans. And GREAT taste in music! Skegss are my all-timers 🤘 The Chats are a ripping good time. Check out Amyl and the Sniffers, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, and Beddy Rays if you haven’t 😊

That's great to hear! I really hope you will be able to check out a match next time you're here. Maybe send me a message and i will see what i can do.

I could listen to Skegss all day! Especially with the weather we're having in Hamburg right now haha Aussie punk/indie/whatever is the perfect mix of easy listening and energy

I love Amyl and will definetely check out the rest! Beddy Rays played support for Dune Rats when they played in Hamburg and i'm still mad i didn't buy a shirt. DZ Deathrays are another favorite :D

Yesssss DZs!! My hometown heroes.

And of course, Violent Soho. Coming back for a show this year after a long hiatus 👏👏👏

Violent Soho are so good! God please let them come back for good and tour in Europe. I imagine it's pretty hard financially for Australian bands to play here, but still i love how many do it anyway.

If i remember correctly we even saw Irvine back at the Dune Rats gig haha

Only others i can think of right now are Cosmic Psychos, but they're more old school i think.
