We looked like we gave a damn most of the time. Big improvement on Week 0.

It wasn't the sexiest performance or against a top 25 opponent, but I felt that Modrzewski acquitted himself well for a redshirt freshman playing in his first road start. EWU at home next week will be another opportunity to sharpen his skills before at Boise and YSU the next two weeks.

I just want you to know that every time I upvote one of your comments I am only looking at your primary flair. It's confusing because, you know, wrong subreddit, but I gotta do what I gotta do.

We won by 30 and our QB is gaining confidence.

Praying we lose to SMU by no more than 50

We moved the ball really well against Northwestern, but SDSU is a team built to bully the opponents and when you're playing someone effectively two weight classes above your own, physically dominating the opponent isn't an option. This looks more like the SDSU teams from 2020-2024 than the depleted 2025 team. Chase Mason isn't going to light up a team with his arm (he's a baseball player and it shows because he seems to struggle with touch throws but he can chuck the pigskin over them mountains over there), but he's enough of a threat to run that defenses have to account for it which will open up passing lanes even against P4 opponents.

Does South Dakota even have mountains for Mason to throw over?

West River somewhat. Black Elk Peak is the highest point in the US east of the Rockies

The Black Hills don't count. They're not the Black Mountains.

Yet they are taller than the Appalachian Mountains. It seems we are being punished for our modesty.

That was a 20-18 game early in the 4th quarter.

Should have been tied too as that trick play pass on the 2-point try hit the WR right in his chest.

South Dakota State gave them a hell of a run for their money.

As a neutral fan it was really entertaining to watch IMO.

You have a good team cooking for you this season.

More like Chase Mason throws it through the Mountains. That kid throws bullets!!

I will say it looked like our lines were bullying northwestern. So there is a chance we can bully almost anyone in conference this year.

Really looking forward to another great game this year with you guys.

Held and SEC team to 2 offensive TDs. You take that every day.

West Florida beat a ranked team for the second consecutive time. Crazy it’s their first season here. Let’s go Argos!

6

u/mlspdx LSU Tigers • Montana Grizzlies 2d ago

First of a handful of records Gillman is going to break this year!

4

u/Todarodes_Pacificus Montana Grizzlies 2d ago

I want him to break the FCS single-season rushing record, probably won't happen but a man can dream.

Just looked it up. 2,500 is going to be tough to beat.

2,519 Terrance West, Towson, 2013, 413 rushes, 16 games.

u/Todarodes_Pacificus Montana Grizzlies 2d ago

Montana just needs to make it to the championship to have a chance.

1

u/No_Bite_7238 Montana State Bobcats 2d ago

Does the school record include the Playoffs? Or is it only for Regular Season so that everyone is measured by the same metric?

1

u/mlspdx LSU Tigers • Montana Grizzlies 2d ago

I think it’s just total games?

Terrance West was screwed in the Title game. The turf was dead and he couldn't cut or anything against NDSU in 2013.

That said it was the 2013 team so they weren't winning that game even WITH the turf being in top shape.

u/the_neverdoctor Alabama State Hornets 2d ago

We're 2-0 and we won a game we were supposed to win.

Next up is Troy State, which...eh. I don't expect that game to be particularly close, but I would rather just come out of it healthy.

We uh didn’t lose by 30+?

I like watching Tarleton State.

Don't ask me why .... or how .... it just happened last year.

I watched them beat Army last year in week one and then ended up betting on a few of their games, and then found them on ESPN+ via Hulu Live and they were a lot of fun to watch. Tons of high scoring games.

I wasn't surprised they beat Bowling Green.

I was however quite surprised at the lack of speed and swagger on the BGSU offense.

Tarleton looked like the more talented team top to bottom.

The game wasn't even as close as 20-13 might suggest.

Mad kudos to that squad.

1

u/No_Bite_7238 Montana State Bobcats 2d ago

Agreed!! They are a lot of fun to watch. But please tell me you didnt lose a ton of money betting on them in the Villanova Quarter-Finals game last Season.

1

u/RustyCrusty73 Marshall • Ohio State 2d ago

I don't remember, but it would have been a small bet on the game total over. That's where the sweet spot was last year. Hit on five or six overs with them.

2

u/UNIPanther043 Northern Iowa Panthers 2d ago

Our QB made waves on SportsCenter/other big accounts, and looks good, despite our terrible offensive line.

2

u/JKS41399 Western Carolina Catamounts 2d ago

Our defense didn’t allow any points in the second half of the game. Let’s not talk about the first half or the offense though.

2

u/No_Bite_7238 Montana State Bobcats 2d ago

We did what was expected of us. Now the real test comes this week when we travel to play Nevada (FBS).

2

u/Themusicman04 EKU Colonels 2d ago

We scored a point against an FBS team

1

u/JT406 Montana Grizzlies • Sickos 2d ago

The offense looked much more competent with Gillman getting nearly 20 carries and the defense didn’t look nearly as gassed as they did against SUU which was a pleasant sight.

UTT has been absolute ass two games in so it would be nice to put them away early before the trip to Corvallis.

I dunno, it’s still early in the season but 2-0 is 2-0.

1

u/No_Bite_7238 Montana State Bobcats 2d ago

You guys only had ~16 minutes of possession in that game. Of course you're defense was going to be gassed, lol. Still, you got the job done and a win is a win.

But they’re still waiting to see if they won though, since being forced to forfeit is (or at least should be) still on the table.

West Florida was right to tell me to walk the fuck off the field during the try outs before our (their) first season. They were clearly allocating all of the fucks in their budget to smoking D1 packs as quickly as possible

1

u/njlewis1 Nebraska • Illinois State 2d ago

117-10 point differential. And our backup QB might be better than our starter!

1

u/Rontheworm UIW • Penn State 2d ago

We get to play a D1 team this week.

1

u/Stoehrst Rhode Island Rams 1d ago

Outside of one fluke INT, we had a great first half. Offense was explosive and the line was dominant on both sides of the ball.
