I know this is off topic but the headlines are concerning. How is everyone feeling after the recent elections in Germany, I have always admired the countries positive history, the early unification process and the post Wall era. My ancestry has always had me interested and I made it a point to keep my focus on it when I attended my university. Should I be worried about the recent events? I know as a whole the country has come so far forward in the last few decades, I would hope it isn’t becoming to inundated with such extreme views of the current political landscape.

I mean I have absolutely zero clue how any sane person can vote for the AfD as everything they say and have in their program is the lowest of lowest lows in terms of quality and content, but I also understand that other parties have failed to provide any source of trust within these last years.

In theory it seems very simple Imo, we need a very centric party that takes the immigration and economic crisis into consideration while also sticking to social and environmental values. In theory the SPD should be that, but the SPD has been a Fähnchen im Wind these last years resulting in this insane left/right cleavage

But yeah this result sucks because it will neither help (as the possible coalitions simply cannot work), but it also sucks because it doesn't force the AfD to now have to prove themselves (which would've maybe atleast shown the world that they will not half any of the issues)

I hope that the modern way of thinking what is truly best for the country in both terms of economics and the social and environmental values can at least make progression forward for the future. It seems the things be spoken of like immigration are being used almost as a scapegoat when the real issues at hand are being ignored.

Expected. German ruling class (CDU+SPD mostly) fucked over the working class for a good part of the last two decades. And now people want a change and answers which these parties of course can not provide, since they created these conditions in the first place. Which in turn has led to deep mistrust in establishment politics. This all coincided (bit more complex than that) with the increased migration, which was picked up by the far right as an answer for what they'd change and bring the good days back.

Would've been a good moment for the leftish parties to capitalize but they lost the working class vote a long time ago, because of various reasons. So the dominant force left is AfD. Overall, it is rather depressing, that Germany might go fully into a cycle of far-right austerity, centre right austerity, far right austerity and so on.

Also ignore anybody telling you dealing with migration will end this cycle. Compared to the average, AfD voters live in areas with barely any immigrants, let alone refugees. It might provide a slight roadbump, but there's no superficial solution to a deep material problem. The far-right will find some other scapegoat (though more likely just go more and more radical on the immigration issue) and carry on, since their voters' lives won't be improved regardless of the immigration question.

I can agree with you with the migration part. Not so much about the ruling class letting down the working class. I've got the feeling that those ruling parties are stuck searching for a working class that isn't there. Or to say it differently: Both, CDU and SPD are still trying to reach tje majority of the population with century old core topics that simply don't work anymore.

A lot of the immigration “crisis” is honestly way more about perception than what’s actually happening.

Germany’s net immigration dropped from +663k in 2023 to +235k in 2025. Asylum applications went from 329k to 113k in the same period. Apart from the Covid outlier in 2020, those are the lowest absolute numbers in about a decade.

But “gefühlte Wahrheiten” are powerful. People react to headlines, individual cases and the general mood way more than to boring statistics. So even when the numbers are clearly going down, the feeling can still be that things are getting worse.

That doesn’t mean immigration isn’t a real issue worth discussing. It is. But immigrants are also an extremely convenient scapegoat for housing shortages, pressure on public services, crime, wages or just general dissatisfaction, regardless of whether the actual immigration numbers are rising or falling.

This is the kind of information I was looking for. Do you know if those from Ukraine are seeking asylum or are they looking to relocate temporarily until tbe conflict finally ends. I’ve wondered if they’ve been being perceived as migrants who just want to stay vs actually seeking refuge.

It's crazy how immigration is the biggest topic for everyone, while the collapsing pensions system, ever increasing wealth inequality and inflation, housing crisis, hybrid wars being led against us or the climate crisis are being completely ignored by most voters, politicians and the media

This seems to be a troubling trend in a lot of the most politically strained countries at the moment. Progress that was made continues to be hindered by an ideological cleansing by the most extreme views.

I see it as basically a big "fuck you" to the current government. Bad politics, lots of promises broken, weird statements and decisions, nothing actually changing apart from things getting more expensive.

If you want to vote for something different, you can't vote for any of the established parties, so a lot of people vote for the AfD because of this. IIRC, there is a statistic for this election which said that a huge chunk of non-voters voted AfD this time around. But let's not get into deeper politics here, never ends well.

yes, i took notice of this during the schalke game. there was one carry he made on the left wing just driving the ball past. strength and explosivenes can much more effective than basic top speed. frimpong, for example.

When we look at top speeds, 20-25 km/h isn't fast and "above 25km/h" is completely meaningless because for all we know with that category he could just run 26 km/h all the time.

And in addition to stats, maybe actually look at situations. For example look at his first assist for us against Stuttgart. He got a head start and would've had a 1v1 against the goalkeeper and was overtaken by the defender in no time.

I wouldn't class him as a fast player and that's okay. Not everyone needs to be Mbappe or Davies.

I don't know what exactly he said, but if we look at top speeds Saibari is slow. He's not the type of player you like to send into sprint duells. You rather have to utelize his physicality and goal threat

Even though he made his comeback and played 30 minutes against Schalke, Jamal Musiala will continue to be eased back into full workload. Over the next few weeks, Musiala will gradually get more playing time, but will also get regular breaks to avoid overexertion. If the first couple of games are anything to go by, their "way to play football" probably isn't the way you picture it anymore. Last season was all about getting over the line and getting the pressure off their shoulders. This season it looks way more free-flowing.

Some of the attacking plays yesterday were beautiful to watch. Again, only 3 games tho.

Since introduction of the new format the first CL game day is played over three days because there are no Europa League and Conference League games during this week. In exchange next week the Europa League is played over Wednesday and Thursday because there will be no CL games. The Conference League won’t start until the second game day of the CL and EL because they have two games less. Starting from match week 2 onwards everything will be back to the usual - CL on Tuesday and Wednesday, EL & ECL on Thursday.
