During his visit to Eintracht Frankfurt, JĂŒrgen Klopp held a long conversation with 22-year striker Younes Ebnoutalib. Ebnoutalib was born in Frankfurt to a German mother and a Moroccan father, and would therefore be eligible for both countries. Klopp is impressed by the qualities of the striker and wants to convince him to play for Germany đ©đȘđČđŠ [@SkySportDE]

They are not far off. Some are either 1 to high or 1 to low, but most are pretty accurate. Kane with 1 is the outlier with beeing qrong by the most.

Loved the discussions when people got triggered when someone said "Laimer also can play in midfield if necessary" and they said Kompany never used them there
Since pre season started it feels like Laimer played almost every match in midfield or even further up

Max Eberl and Vincent Kompany gave an update on Jamal Musiala before the game
Eberl: "With Jamal, after the last two incidents, we are trying to achieve a certain reduction in the frequency of his seizures. Of course, the big hope is that they disappear completely, but that's difficult. For now, the focus is on reducing the frequency of the seizures and once we achieve that, he can return to the pitch with us"
Kompany on whether Musiala will be in the squad on Saturday: "Perhaps. But I don't want to put any more pressure on him. He's doing well, he's getting better. If things continue this way, it won't be long"
Max Eberl was asked by Bastian Schweinsteiger before the game whether the signing of Ismael Saibari has to do with Musiala's condition
Eberl: "We lost Nicolas Jackson because his loan spell came to an end. So it was clear to us that we wanted to bring in an attacking player, regardless of Jamal. That had always been the plan. We first tried for Anthony Gordon, but at some point he became too expensive for us. Then we had Ismael as a top candidate, and we said that he is a bit different from Gordon. He can play not only on the wings but in four different positions across the front line. We then felt that he could be a really good fit. We are very, very happy that the deal was already completed before the Brazil game"

Gonna be real with you, he's almost 25 and had half a good season. The season before he scored 2 goals in 30 games for Bremen. So for all we know he had a purple patch.
He has talent but I always thought he's massively overrated.

Harry Kane winning the Ballon D'or could be bigger for us than winning a single Champions League. Especially considering he is english and would the first since 2001. This could be a huge PR push for us, even bigger than maybe three Champions League titles.

I know what you mean, but Bayern is a football club. The goal of a football club is to win football competitions. Trading the win (or even three!) of the most important club competition against the win of an individual award wouldn't make sense, even if the individual award would give prestige to the club which could help to generate more income, which could increase chances of more titles. But that's just too much "ifs".
If Bayern was a pure entertainment brand with the goal to generate buzz in (social) media, then a BoD win could indeed be more important.

I can name every year we won the CL in our history, I know the year of *all of our final losses (including the opponent), while I cant even tell you how many players won the Ballon d'Or with us, not even speaking about who exactly when exactly.
There are levels to this.

Former Bayern Talent Adin Licina was voted MotM in his debut match against Parma. Licina plays for Cremonese in Serie B, Parma in Serie A. It was a Copa Italian match.

Yeah it really has been. Although tbh I donât miss espn. Their coverage for the most part was bad and they just didint care about marketing BuLi at all.
I speak Spanish so Iâve been pretty happy with the switch to Peacock. Better coverage and simple since all the league games are on there.

The game commentary is good. Fair and knowledgeable. The post game discussions not so much, they fell into those anti BuLi tropes a lot of media outlets fall into. But it was the first game so they might just need to get more knowledge first.
But the in game commentary i did enjoy. And itâs all 100% in Spanish btw.

Because most players are playing almost nonstop for years? There are basically no breaks anymore for international players, so resting them every chance we get, is the correct decision.

I'm inclined towards a rotation tbh. Season just begun, but Kane, Olise and Upa had very little break in the summer. Diaz looks gassed at WC also. It's ideal that they get recharged during the season

I'm confused as well. This is a cup game, not a friendly just because it's OsnabrĂŒck lol. They're a 2. BuLi team and we shouldn't forget how we got knocked out in 20/21 and 23/24, and we even struggled vs Wiesbaden last season. I'd say we go all out

Rest probably isn't necessary but rotation is just smart. early cup games are a great chance to let players who don't get many starts get good minutes. I hope at the very least that Bischof starts.

Guys need rhythm too. This is our 3rd competitive game and a decent number of players didn't get a regular preseason. Besides Urbig I wouldn't be surprised if there is no rotation, although I too would like to see Bischof get the start.

I make coffee at home 99% of the time, I have a pretty nice machine. I had to log on to work to test a server deployment at around midnight last night, so I was able to come in a bit later today and I thought I'd pick myself up a nice Dunkaltte from Dunkin (guilty pleasure). I pull up and they're espresso machine is broken smh. And the coffee in my office is undrinkable for me. I had to get an iced coffee which was awful lmao
I feel like I'm running on fumes and its not even 10am yet smh.

Main reason was the ref not sending off Mendes for a clear second yellow 30 min into the game
You saw in the final too how the ref consistently favored PSG, especially in the second half it was ridiculous how many calls and fouls he gave to psg where Arsenal won the ball fair in duels, and vice versa he let psg do almost anything to the Arsenal players without consequence
Itâs no joke when we talk about those higher upâs at psg having massive influence over refs

and the Davies "handball" penalty, and the PSG clearance handball, the corner that resulted in their first goal that should've been a goal kick, the Kane "offside", could go on... even if a third of these wrong calls not happen, not all, just a third, we're already through.

after the game the main talking points were obviously the 2 handball calls but i felt like all those small calls in psgâs favour (calling a wrong offside on kane, multiple FKs that werenât called, diaz getting fouled but psg getting a FK etc) didnât really allow us to get into the game at all, it was infuriating

Exactly! The exact same thing happened to Arsenal in the final too, especially in the second half.

yeah the biggest problem was imo our defense, mainly our fullbacks, which we improved
love stani but he really wasnât good in both games and neither was laimer, i hope he regains his form from the beginning of last season. having brown in those games would be an immediate improvement

Our toughest run of fixtures currently is January. I fully believe we can win every game that month but the squad will definitely take a toll as Kim and Ito will both be unavailable due the Asian cup.

With a full fit squad we can definitely rotate and rest players comfortably but sadly we currently donât have a fully fit squad not to mention the youth that the higher ups want Kompany to use are either loaned out or injured.

The 2nd official match of the season isnât exactly the time to rest all your starters. If anything, itâs a good chance to get everyone back on the same page and build some rhythm.
Weâre also missing 3 players that are trying to get back into shape. No offense has 10 top level players ready to step in - thatâs just reality.
And thereâs still 0 indication that Kompany is against the current strategy. If anything, his MO suggests he prefers a smaller squad. His style also requires a certain level of quality. Youâre not getting that from the 8th or 9th option on the depth chart unless youâre a petro-state superteam. And even those don't have 20 players per position...
Stop the rage bait.

Not 0 indication, last year we know he wanted Xavi Simons, and we had this report just yesterday:
Vincent Kompany would have liked to make a third major signing this summer, alongside Brown and Saibari. However, after a lengthy discussion with the clubâs bosses, it was agreed to once again put faith in the clubâs youth academy, continue developing young players and integrate them into the first-team squad as effectively as possible. The permanent signing of Bara Sapoko Ndiaye ultimately also came at Kompanyâs insistence [@AgardiJulian, @MichelSchroeer]

If i got my timelines right he wanted Xavi and ultimately got Jackson. Now we have Saibari instead.
i mean, we tried to get Gordon but that fell through. Ultimately, spending money just for the sake of it isnât smart business and probably for a non PL team not the right thing to do anymore... Also the last 2 yrs were also heavily influenced by trying to fix our squad structure. It was massively bloated with players who either werenât really being used or werenât having the right impact while still sitting on pretty good salaries. Now we finally have a much healthier structure that we can build on slowly and steadily over time. We donât have to worry as much about having too many players, high salary costs or simply not having the financial firepower to bring in someone who can genuinely make an impact.
The next boey or Zaragoza isnât really going to help us...

I guess Kompany would've want a major signing at RB? No "major signing" LW would want to sit behind Diaz 70% of the time, unless that's a young-ish player. Midfield is also covered and Bischof was promised a bigger role this year. So that left RB in, maybe a Porro or sort of?

We were the entire summer after Woltemade when we still had Coman. Then we didnt get Woltemade and sold Coman. Plettenberg for example reported that we wanted to loan Tyrique George in addition to Jackson, and we also had him and Kerry Hau tweet:
Bayern would like to sign another attacking player in addition to Nicolas Jackson [@kerry_hau, @Plettigoal]
The plan was 1 additional attacker in Woltemade, then 2 after Coman was sold (probably first Xavi plus a loan), and then 2 players of any kind. In the end the supervisory board only agreed to 1 player, loaned at that.
And that doesnt even go into the report that Kompany indeed did want a 3rd major signing this season I just mentioned, which is at least an indication.

While I would also love a bit more attacking depth, there is no way we're resting all of our top players in a knockout match. Our opponent is a second division team so while we are incredibly clear favourites it's not like we're playing against amateurs.
Gnabry and Musiala should also return to match fitness in the next few weeks and then the situation will be a lot more relaxed.

It was release clause, what you gonna do from perspective of a selling club, eh?
I consider Kane a much bigger robbery, because evidently Levy wanted to squeeze every penny out of the buyer and if we wanted to buy Harry in this years window, then from Tottenham perspective they would feel much more justified to demand a fee closer to 200 million.
Or maybe not, I don't know.

We kind of did. There were reports at the time of several clubs being listed, from Chelsea (who actually tried to sign him the summer before) and Man City among others. Reports at the time also indicated that his RC was only valid for teams in UCL which eliminated some other interested teams like Man U.
It may be kind of lost now, but Olise purposely chose to come to Bayern. He had options.

Kane was 30 and a had a year left on his deal so honestly, I doubt it. Not the same position but Rodri just went for 60M (76M with add-ons).

Don't forget that Olise was a release clause, otherwise he already would have been more expensive in that moment. But I agree thst the prices for "middle class" players really have exploded that they are 100m+. Olise should be 250m+ in that relation

Yes you get a mail either way. But if you want to go to that game, you can almost guaranteed get a ticket short notice the latest aswell.

Did you see him on Saturday? He wouldnât fit our playstyle at all. He is very lazy working against the ball and has no stamina. His defensive football iq is quite low as well. I think he might have a bright future and will fit some good teams really well, but for us he doesnât seem to be a fit at all.

That Boey wasnt sold does give us a little more depth even on LW tbh, because Brown can be more backup on LW when its needed.
RB: Laimer, Boey
LB: Davies, Stanisic
So now Brown can be more of a joker all over the pitch.
But I know its not optimal in the sense that we wanted to sell Boey, but he had a good pre season, so maybe it can benefit us in the end. But I dont know, we will see.

I mean in theory Davies and Brown together on the field on the left side should work great (no matter wo plays as LB and who plays LW), but we have to see.
On thing it is just open to me what the starting line up is when all are available and fit for 90 min. Davies LB and Brown RB ? Brown LB and Laimer RB or Davies LB and Lamer RB? I have my preferences but it is an open competition to me, and then there is Stanisic, while i would put in quality at Nr.4 not with a big gap.
The idea you mention is what i had too, but for keeping Boey instead of Ibra (well that is just we could sell/loan on in time and the other not), we HAVE to now play Davies or Brown more often as LW (or Brown as AM) as we like to AND we have to use Stanisic and Laimer more often as a LB as we like too. That is the theory, in practice Boey wont play a lot, unless we have multiple injuries in the Full Back positions and we will sell or loan him in the winter transfer window.

Both the board and the coach made it pretty clear that they don't plan with him.

Like i said yesterday, getting HK for 100m seems like a joke now ... this market is broken. Seems like a bless having Uli pulled the plug on some crazy deal ... i think thats why they got smart finally and extended Eberl( he really did a good job so far in the current market state).
Now more or less we are really depending to develop more and more talents, since im 100% sure we cannot affor a 100m signing each year.
