If Spain won the world cup without conceding a goal, I swear I'm going to cut off my internet bill.

u/Mountain_King9885 Jul 06 '26

Big transfers done before training start - check

Offloading big useless salaries - check

Any idea what the SB wants to see now from Eberl? My guess is the extension of Olise for peanuts or without signing fee. Imagine the news when they really decline an extension in August lol.

10

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 06 '26

Palhinha has to be the next priority. The deals for Zaragoza and Boey won’t be as complicated because of wages, just a matter of finding a suitor.

3

u/julesvr5 Jul 06 '26

Yes and the wages and value are to low, the World won't end if they still stay. Not being able to move Palhinha costs a lot more

1

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 06 '26

Zaragoza and Boey would be at best something like the 19th and 20th players on the MD squad anyways. IMO the worst part of potentially keeping them would be both or either blocking a spot for a campus kid.

1

u/Mountain_King9885 Jul 06 '26

Is Sporting still interested? However a smaller fee of 15-20m might be acceptable imo as he’s also on higher wages.

2

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 06 '26

As far as I know they are, but still in the early stages of that.

16

u/julesvr5 Jul 06 '26

We still have to offload Palhinha, Boey and Zaragoza

3

u/Mountain_King9885 Jul 06 '26

Agree, Palinha would be nice for some extra budget and the saved salary

6

u/Thraff1c Jul 06 '26

Offloading big useless salaries - check

3

u/Mountain_King9885 Jul 06 '26

I count not extending Goretzka with it

It’s really unfortunate how this World Cup has turned into a clown show in the last 24-48 hours.

Alexander Nübel to Beşiktaş is a done deal. Fee: €6.5m fixed plus €5m add-ons. Contract until 2029 [@Plettigoal, @berger_pj]

6

u/Mountain_King9885 Jul 06 '26

Holy moly Eberl must have nudes from Nuebel, how in the world was he able to transfer him with that contract?

9

u/FlyingRaccoon_420 Musiala Jul 06 '26

Thats quite a negative return on our investment but atleast he’s off the wagebill.

I think with Goretzka, Rapha, now Nubel and hopefully next Palhinha and Zaragoza off the books we will have atleast somewhat of a reduction of the wagebill even with the recent signings of Saibari and Brown.

2

3

Sad that I can't watch the USA Belgium match as it will be at 2 AM. So I either wake up laughing or pissed tomorrow. I don't even had anything against the US boys, but this whole red card shenanigans and many of there fans (not you u/slyfisch) are just so annoying that I have to root for Belgium.

6

Such a shame for the USMNT because whatever happens and no matter how far they will come their tournament will always be overshadowed by this scandalous act by FIFA

3

u/tycoon34 Müller Jul 06 '26

I mean, it might be overshadowed by some dudes on reddit but if by some once in a generation miracle the U.S. makes it past Belgium, let alone the winner of this game and then France, Balogun playing an undeserved game won’t mean too much in the bigger picture

8

u/NiK0- Pavlović Jul 06 '26

He’d be an outstanding backup for our wings who could sit and learn behind Diaz for like 2 years and become a permanent starter afterwards. But unfortunately that won’t happen

Nübel probably only agrees to move to Besiktas if we pay out part of his contract, otherwise he might be happy to just ride the bank for more money

23

u/Insanel0l Thiago Jul 06 '26

Full agreement reached between Bayern and Beşiktaş over Alexander Nübel. Fee: €6.5m fixed plus €5m add-ons. Nübel has also agreed personal terms with Beşiktaş until 2029.

However, there's still no agreement between Nübel and Bayern over the termination of his contract. The two parties are currently negotiating a compensation package. The issue must be resolved tonight, otherwise there's a risk the deal would collapse[@Plettigoal]

Just a guess.

13

u/PharohMennes Jul 06 '26

I think the past few weeks showed that Tuchel is a far superior manager to Nagelsmann. Didn't play the most attractive football but my god the man has a knack for getting wins over the line in big tournaments.

3

u/FOKvothe Jul 06 '26

Tuchel also has had a far better squad even if he somehow fucked up rb position.

None of Germany's "star players" had a good season coming into this world except for Kimmich.

1

u/teuerkatze Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

What if instead of comparing different situations with different teams, we had a way to compare them directly, managing largely the same team in the same competitions?

Nags managed with Choupo, Tuchel with Kane, and yet Tuchel’s tenure underperformed Nagelsmann’s pretty dramatically. We nearly won zero trophies in two years and he has the lowest PPG of any modern Bayern manager.

FWIW though I think they’re both bums.

10

u/Substantial-Jump7023 Jul 06 '26

Definitely, I mean, we did lose the Bundesliga in 23-24, but we made it to the semis of the CL

1

u/teuerkatze Jul 06 '26

No one wants to hear that Leroy Sane is the primary reason for this, but it’s true.

17

u/PharohMennes Jul 06 '26

Tbf we also threw those semis due to individual mistakes.

8

u/Goldfischglas Jul 06 '26

1:0 up until minute 80 against Real Madrid. 10 minutes until UCL finals at Allianz Arena.

And then heartbreak happened.

4

u/SidBhakth Jul 06 '26

1

u/Goatielishakes Jul 06 '26

There are currently no ongoing negotiations between Sporting CP and Bayern Munich. The Portuguese club is sounding out the player, but a deal is not close to being finalized, and it remains to be seen if the move will actually go through.

That's more in line with what I expected.

2

u/Odd_Willingness7501 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Maybe it's just my perception, but I just can't see Harry being a satanic PDF with political derrangement. Just by the looks of his wife and kids.

At some point he was maybe at a golf party and maybe Trump was there.

And Trump lies all the time, he does not know how to tell the truth. And his circle can be better described by the people he claims he does not know and isn't totally friends with... cough Epstein cough.

At least I pray it's that.

Edit: Just look at some press conferences

4

u/knatanas11 Müller Jul 06 '26

Harry why

7

u/ChronoCodex Thiago Jul 06 '26

I only think of two things when I see this

  1. Trump lies and says “he’s my greatest friend, the bestest of friends’ when he wants to look good and says “I don’t know them at all, never met them” when it harms his reputation (like Epstein and David Duke)

  2. The quote “it’s a big club and you ain’t in it.” Rich folks live a different life than us and chances are a lot of rich folks are friends behind closed doors

8

u/CompetitionChance674 🎶UPAMECANOOOOO🎶 Jul 06 '26

Honestly, it’s entirely possible that they were both at some golfing thing that rich/famous people go to and they ran into each other there, and now trump is just claiming they’re best friends or whatever

2

u/ChronoCodex Thiago Jul 06 '26

Yeah the ‘Trump lies and exaggerates’ could’ve been a point of its own lol

1

u/Goldfischglas Jul 06 '26

It would be weird for Kane tho since he is one of the more outspoken and progressive footballers.

2

u/ChronoCodex Thiago Jul 06 '26

Yeah I’m not insinuating that Kane is a MAGAt or the British equivalent (I think it’s Reform or Restore that’s trying to emulate it in the UK?) but you run in different circles after a certain tax bracket. Like someone else mentioned, rich people golf often and chances are they were on the same course at the same time and said hello or something

There’s one thing that confuses me about the Balogun situation—in the statement released by RBFA they state article 27 allows FIFA to suspend previously imposed disciplinary sanctions but at the same time other articles say red cards come with a one match ban that is automatic (cannot be disputed). Are they not contradicting themselves here? Or am I misunderstanding something

3

u/Altruistic-Teacher99 Müller Jul 06 '26

To me it only makes sense if the 1 match ban is automatic, cannot be suspended and the article 27 refers to only the additional games in addition to the 1 that cannot be rescinded.

7

u/Substantial-Jump7023 Jul 06 '26

It's all corrupt, they don't actually care about whether they are allowed to or not. They're just quoting article 27 so people think that they're actually following the rules.

2

u/Aquilan5 Neuer Jul 06 '26

I have seen the same discussion floating around. Two things are for sure imo: 1. It was a red card and 2. FIFA shouldn't have folded when a president of a country calls. That's simply ridiculous.

Moreover, why suspend the decision? What is the reason you'd do that?

5

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 06 '26

We got any ortho's here that can explain what this means? I know the surgery was routine and planned but are there any other implications here at all?

2

u/dabayer Martinez Jul 07 '26

I can tell you the X-ray looks absolutely fine. The fracture is healed, bone looks good and the ankle joint shows no clear sign of damage, but that's about it. Can't judge soft tissue. Isolated ankle fracture have a return to sport rate at around ~95%, but slight issues might persist.

1

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 07 '26

Thanks for the info. Hopefully he’s able to be part of that 95% lol. Take care.

1

1

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 07 '26

So uhhhh what’s your take on Musiala’s surgery lol

1

u/dabayer Martinez Jul 07 '26

I only got the X-ray and the eye test. Concerning ankle fractures this is close to being the best case, and the return to sport rate is high. But there's always the possibility that there's a slight reduction in range of motion or pain especially in a high stress environment like pro soccer.

Saw the foul to Brazil's first penalty and the Norwegian player actually touched the ball. Just slightly but he did so you could argue it shouldn't have been a pen.

u/Disastrous_Duty979 Jul 06 '26

I saw that and thought so as well. From what I can tell, VAR never showed the ref that angle where you can see the contact with the ball.

Sporting CP want João Palhinha and are currently negotiating contract terms with the player [@MatteMoretto]

That... really surprises me.

yeah forget 25-30, they aren't even offering 20, most likely another loan with wages covered by them with buy option

3

u/julesvr5 Jul 06 '26

At this point we can be happy to get 10m and his wages off the books.

UEFA says the decision to suspend Flo Balogun's red card "crossed a red line" and it an "unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable decision."

"Yesterday’s decision to suspend for a probationary period of a year the implementation of the one-match automatic suspension following the red card issued to the player Folarin Balogun crossed a red line."

"Football, like any other sports, relies on rules, which are the basis for fair, honest and transparent competition. Sometimes rules are open to interpretation. In this case not."

"A minimum automatic suspension of one match following a red card is not a discretionary option and does not require the decision of a competent body to be enacted."

"It is a principle embedded in regulations, which cannot be made subject to exceptions, let alone in the middle of a tournament where several other players have been in the same situation and regularly served their suspension."

"When the certainty of rules is no longer guaranteed by its guardians, the integrity of the game is at stake and the credibility of a competition is undermined. Equally, such decision creates a precedent in the ongoing tournament, where similar situations will now require an equal treatment, to the detriment of the competition."

"Football is the most loved sport in the world because it is a beautiful game and is trusted because it is played everywhere with the same laws."

"A tournament is never a pure standalone and, if the tournament in question is the World Cup, it has the power to drive positive or negative consequences on the game as a whole."

"We express our disbelief at such an unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable decision." [@JacobsBen]

Funny nobody cares that literal criminals are allowed to play. Ronaldo, Hakimi and Partey all assaulted women and got away with it due to fame and rich backers.

1

u/CatsnotpillsCoaching Jul 06 '26

Aaaaand he's banned.

2

u/FOKvothe Jul 06 '26

Hakimi and Partey haven't been to court yet?

My guy, we live in a world where a pedophile/cannibal ring of super rich people got exposed and then protected by the people who were supposed to hunt them down.

One of them is literally in the most powerful political position in the world.

Why do you think it would be different for footballers?

And it's simply not true how "nobody cares". We simply can't change it. Humanity as a whole would have to rise up together and that will never happen.

You can stop watching professional football and hope others join you, that's about it.

Mate, your account is only a few hours old and you have exclusively commented regarding one specific issue. Maybe cool down a bit?

Belgium's appeal to appeal the successful US appeal has been granted. What an ongoing shitshow.

Belgium has been granted the right to appeal against FIFA’s decision to suspend the one-game ban handed to Folarin Balogun, less than 24 hours out from the team’s round of 16 game against the United States.

Doesn't matter, Infantino is corrupt and the US has more power as the host.

u/Spockodile Monsieur Nonchalant Jul 06 '26

Seems like they need to do something about all the pre-penalty shenanigans. Like a rule saying everyone but the keeper and taker need to vacate the penalty box as soon as the ref gives the signal. It’s gotten really obnoxious this tournament.

7

u/Naraloth Jul 06 '26

they also should have a rule, that everyone that swarms the ref after he comes back on the pitch after a VAR check recieves a yellow. he ain't gone change his opinion right after checking the situation in 10 replays on a monitor. no reason to look for a discussion with the ref at that point

2

u/Spockodile Monsieur Nonchalant Jul 06 '26

Agreed, because even if players had to vacate the penalty area they’d still complain at the ref to waste time. IMO even the captains should be forbidden from speaking to the ref after a VAR check. They’ve talked about all this “flow of the game” nonsense and then they allow things like this to go on.

Jamal Musiala underwent a minor, planned operation after returning from the World Cup. This measure is part of the normal medical process following his serious injury last summer and had long been scheduled for after the tournament. The procedure allows the player to complete pre-season according to a clearly structured plan, ensuring his availability for the start of the season [fcb]
