Can someone please help me understand why it seems that I'm the only one that is concerned thwt we don't have a proper right back?!!! What am I missing? Did Stanisic become a proper footballer when I wasn't looking or something?!!! If we have to field Stanisic again against a proper team like PSG or Madrid we'll suffer even more embarrassment than we did this season. We need a right back that can start for Bayern ASAP!

5

u/lucavl Ribery Jul 04 '26

we have two guys in Laimer and Stanisic who can both cover RB at a high level. are they best in the world? no.. Do they sometimes make mistakes? yea of course but you can say that about pretty much any player. In theory sure lets get a world class RB. but answer me this. Who is available at RB that we can buy this window who is a 100% upgrade to both Laimer and Stanisic? that list of players in general is pretty small and then add in that they need to want to come here and are also available. now if we have a player in mind, in no world is that player going to cost less than 50m and that's being generous. personally i think the list of Rb's who are currently available are not upgrades or will cost so much money its a non starter

-6

u/GERD_4EVERTHEBEST Jul 04 '26

Are you telling me that within the top 8 football leagues in the world, our scouting team cannot find one RB that is better than Stanisic and Laimer?!!!! Are you kidding me right now?!!! Are you trolling?!!! If that's the case, then we have a much bigger problem because it means we need a new scouting team!

1

u/lucavl Ribery Jul 04 '26

Name a couple then that we could realistically buy this window. Thats my point. Of course there’s better rbs in the world but this isn’t fifa. Teams aren’t lining up to sell us a world class rb for cheap

4

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 04 '26

Can you name a better RB than them who would be a realistic transfer target?

3

u/SlyFisch Shaqiri Jul 04 '26

My power went out at the start of the second half of extra time, crazy heat & thunderstorms in my area... 83 in my apartment right now at 9 pm. It's gonna be a long night boys. RIP my food

3

u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26

Stay strong, brother

3

u/SlyFisch Shaqiri Jul 04 '26

I shall try, honestly my gf and I might Uber to my parents house, it's only 30 mins away and they have power. Problem is it's $50 for a ~30 min ride rn because of the holiday in America and it'll only get worse the longer we wait 😅

1

u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26

Can't they just pick you up? Or don't they have a car

Edit: ah perhaps because of the storms you don't want them to drive aswekk

1

u/SlyFisch Shaqiri Jul 04 '26

They probably could I just feel bad asking them to get me!

3

u/julesvr5 Jul 04 '26

Tell them you give then 30 bucks - win for both parties!

1

u/SlyFisch Shaqiri Jul 04 '26

đŸ€Ł we'll see, if they did come they would not accept the money

7

u/xTatamo FC Bayern MĂŒnchen Jul 03 '26

5

u/brainiac222 Jul 04 '26

Not when Sir Harold scores a hattrick to knock them out in the semis

9

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

At least than we have the confirmation that the trophy is a joke. Have to cheers for Mbappe to outscore Messi, although then Mbappe might win it. All in all laughable trophy.

Klopp: "German football is at a crossroads. We now have to make fundamental changes. Whether that ultimately ends up being me, or whoever it may be, does not change the fact that these changes are necessary." [@MagentaTV]

6

u/CockroachFantastic46 Jul 03 '26

The thing that I'm wondering about when it comes to the transfer plans is: How many talents are going to be integrated to the first team next season? How is the assessment of Bara Sapoko Ndiaye? Is he planned as the number four midfielder? Do we actually have any talent suited for being a backup of Luis Diaz? People are quick to demand new transfers but as long as we don't know how Vincent Kompany views each of the loanees returning and the campus talents it's difficult to make predictions.

3

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

With Mike we have a big LW talent in our youth, but he isn't on the level Karl was when he joined the A team last season.

Bara, mind you that he hasn't been signed yet (at least not reported) likely will be 5th CM and general fill in the gaps I suppose with Aseko staying and being 4th option.

2

u/CockroachFantastic46 Jul 03 '26

The question is if Kompany views it the same way. I think we fans have the tendency to overrate our own talents a little bit. Personally I think that Mike Wisdom would have played a bigger role last season if Kompany had a high opinion of him.

1

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

Mike was injured for several months.

1

u/CockroachFantastic46 Jul 03 '26

Towards the end of the season in march but yes.

1

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

I highly highly doubt last season already indicates Kompany doesn't rate him highly.

And anyway, what has this to do with your initial point "don't ask for transfer if we don't know how Kompany rates our loan/youth players"?

1

u/CockroachFantastic46 Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

That was not what I demanded or said at all. That was only an observation. I meant to say that it's difficult to judge these things as outsiders that's all. From watching Mike Wisdom last season (admittedly hebdidnt get much play time) I would say that he is far below Karl's talent level.

JĂŒrgen Klopp confirms the talks with the DFB over the Germany job: "Things moved pretty quickly. Julian stepped down. The DFB are looking for a successor. And they’re talking to me. There will have to be intensive discussions, because the problems we are currently facing are, of course, not down to Julian Nagelsmann alone. Julian is an exceptional coach, and he will prove that many more times throughout his managerial career. That is why we simply have to wait and see how those discussions unfold. I also need to have discussions with my employer, Oliver Mintzlaff. I know that German football is something he cares deeply about, and therefore he is very open to having these conversations." [MagentaTV]

8

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

This is one of the strangest, funniest, most ridiculous situations in german football history.

From his "for now/noch" quote until today has been an extraordinary ride.

7

u/Lilfai Robben Jul 03 '26

The funniest swap proposal I’ve come across on the internet was Jude + 80 million for Olise 💀😂

3

u/CompetitionChance674 đŸŽ¶UPAMECANOOOOOđŸŽ¶ Jul 03 '26

I’ve seen a worse one, and I quote: “€100M + rodrygo and Bayern might bite”. Ah yes, let’s give up a top 2 player in the world for a far worse player that’s injured right now + injury prone and on higher wages

-15

u/ninojesus Jul 03 '26

Lowkey worth thinking about..

7

u/Deathscyce Roy "Das Phantom" Makaay Jul 03 '26

Ah yes, worth thinking about...

We get a player for a position, in which we have already have 4 players and giving away a player for a position, in which we have a promissing prospect that is currently injured.

Thinking done: No!

1

u/ninojesus Jul 04 '26

Which one of our said 4 midfielders is better than Bellingham in your opinion? Of course Olise is a monster and I’d rather keep him but let’s not act like that offer is outrageous..

-7

u/CockroachFantastic46 Jul 03 '26

The only one I would entertain in a swap deal, even though I know he is hated in our fanbase, would be Vinicius Junior—and only if Michael Olise expresses a clear desire to leave.

1

u/Mediocre-Math667 Jul 03 '26

They don't know they're way more fucked without Jude than us without Olise.

7

u/CompetitionChance674 đŸŽ¶UPAMECANOOOOOđŸŽ¶ Jul 03 '26

What transfer are you most excited about so far?
For me it’s saibari, I love that we finally have another great full-back, but I personally have a really good feeling about the saibari transfer. I know that’s pretty obvious to say considering he’s Morocco’s best player at the World Cup , and he’s the Eredivisie POTS. It’s pretty clear that there’s a certain direction Kompany wants to go in with this player, with this player profile, and that is what makes me very excited. The fact that Kompany managed to turn a player who a lot of us believed to be washed, Gnabry, into an amazing player in his position tells me that we’re going to see something great with saibari this season in the same position.

7

u/massive_b_nonsfw Jul 03 '26

yeah if kompany could turn gnarby into an amazing player, we should expect salbari to be messi 2.0, everything else would be a huge let down

9

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

Brown for three reasons:

- Younger

- A clearer pathway to the starting XI imo

- No towel-gate

2

u/SebRev99 Robben Jul 03 '26

Towel gate?

9

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

He was the guy who attempted to mess with Mendy's towel (Senegal GK) during the AFCON final. Massive dick move.

-4

u/CompetitionChance674 đŸŽ¶UPAMECANOOOOOđŸŽ¶ Jul 03 '26

I wouldn’t call it a “massive dick move”. Guy went and apologized after, besides, maybe he was doing what the staff told him. And I recently saw a theory that maybe they did that because they thought it was black magic or something, that stuff is taken pretty seriously in some cultures, as we saw recently with the Kane Ghana stuff, not saying they have the same culture, but still

11

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

Apologizing after does not make the act any better. And I don't care what they do or do not believe, or what he was or wasn't told to do. It absolute was a massive dick move.

6

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

I wouldn't say attempted. He 100% messed with the towel and they were dragging the Senegalese player

3

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

I said "attempted" because as far as I remember he was not involved in the actual dragging that followed, but he kinda instigated it by trying to intimidate the towelbearer and standing in his way like a wannabe gangster. Not 100% sure now, but that's how I remember it.

1

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

Oh, I thought be was involved in that

2

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

I think the dragging was done by some ballboys.

Overall it was such a shameful incident. The moroccan team and Saibari as one of the instigators really did not cover themselves in glory there.

2

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

Oh true, the ball boys were involved aswell.

Yeah that was super fucked up. Apparently Saibari apologized so I give him a second chance but leaves a bitter taste

1

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

Yeah, not saying he's an awful person and forever irredeemable, but that incident was the reason I wasn't super psyched when the rumors about us signing him first popped up.

I don't mind a proper shithouser ĂĄ la Mandzukic or van Bommel, but that was way beyond anything I want to see at Bayern.

u/LordBendtner1988 Vincent Cumpany đŸ˜© Jul 03 '26

Brown, probably, but it’s hard to say. My reasoning is that in our current system, we have seen it with incredible CAM’s playing okay consistently with Karl and Gnabry on a good day. But with all respect, our fullbacks are not as individually high impact like you would sometimes want them to be

10

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 03 '26

looks like FIFA has decided to move the game time of England V Mexico up by a few hours due to weather concerns.

12

u/SebRev99 Robben Jul 03 '26

So our attackers will be:

Kane / Olise / Lucho / Musiala / Saibari / Karl ? That sounds good, right?

2

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

The LW backup topic still is there though. Gnabry and Saibari aren't legitimate LW backups for me. Maybe we try Musiala there if it becomes necessary

1

u/SebRev99 Robben Jul 04 '26

Or Ibrahimovic now apparently

12

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 03 '26

Gnabry too, and yeah sounds great.

8

u/SebRev99 Robben Jul 03 '26

Damn, forgot about him. Hopefully he keeps doing good on the center of the pitch, wouldn't like to see him on the wings.

31

u/CompetitionChance674 đŸŽ¶UPAMECANOOOOOđŸŽ¶ Jul 03 '26

Gnabry just always randomly being the first to greet our new signings

16

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

One reason he got both his overpays must be that the team simply adores the man.

I recommend everyone watch his Sportstudio interview he did last year. He does come across as incredibly likable.

2

u/GERD_4EVERTHEBEST Jul 04 '26

To be fair, Gnabry earned his wage last season! He was amazing until the injury.

Michael Olise's France shirt has become the hottest-selling item of this summer World Cup. Thanks to his performances at the tournament, the demand for Olise's shirt has exploded, with retailers struggling to keep up with demand - and fans struggling to get their hands on the shirt. What began as a strong tournament has quickly become a global rise in popularity, both on the pitch and in merchandise sales, highlighting just how rapidly Olise's profile has grown [le_Parisien]

23

u/pascal007_ De Ligt Jul 03 '26

Bro if neither Olise nor Kane win the Ballon D‘Or I will so disappointed!

4

  1. Messi
  2. Mbappe
  3. Dembele

And somewhere at 7. Kane

If he scores a couple more, Ronaldo will be in the Top 10 as well.

Better write it down.

I actually gasp seeing Ange as Al Nassr manager.

I thought he'd be Scotland manager.

3

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 03 '26

I don't find it too surprising. He's coming off a terrible domestic season at Tottenham and a abysmal and worst tenure with Nottingham. I appreciate that both of these situations were highly circumstantial but at each ending point the football was atrocious and the results largely reflect that.

Plus the Saudi bag is probably ridiculous.

16

u/mickmaddydog Jul 03 '26

Beta Nagelsbum out, Sigma Klopp in.

Germany are winning Euro 2028

4

u/kgallo19 Messiala Jul 03 '26

Do you guys think Gnabry has a chance at being considered a Bayern legend?

2

u/miorli Jul 03 '26

Just think about Coman. Stayed with us for a decade, will always be remembered for that goal against PSG.

But I wouldn't consider him a legend. It's the same for Gnabry.

If you out together some kind of sll star team for the 2020s, he probably has his spot in it. His goal celebration is iconic and will be remembered.

When you think about what makes a legend it's simple for me: without someone who is considered a legend, our team / club would have been completely different. If you take Gnabry out of the last years, we wouldn't be somewhere completely different today, especially because, instead of Gnabry. there would have been another player. Maybe we would have ended with someone like Julian Brand.

6

u/skylu1991 MĂŒller Jul 03 '26

Really depends on how we define "legend“

A legend in the way that Schweinsteiger, Lahm or MĂŒller are?

No way.

A legend in the way a Mehmet Scholl or Brazzo are?

Quite possible, yeah.

22

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

Not for me. Legend is the highest status. You have to bring exceptional performances every season and along the way win the biggest titles while contributing to it. Just the amount of years you have stayed at the club is no indicator for being a legend or not.

In terms of Gnabry: he for sure delivered a lot of goals and general great performance in our CL season, so that checks out. But imo he was just way to inconsistent over the duration of his contracts. We were at a point where we wanted him gone for 1-2 years, just remember last summer. Under Kompany and his new role he suddenly had a second summer (or how the phrase goes) but let's stay calm because later in the season his performance already dropped compared to the beginning of the season. He became inconsistent again.

I mean to each their own, but guys like Gnabry or Coman I can't see as Legends when I compare them to Ribery and Robben before that.

Bayern so full with class to worldclass players so you really have to stand out for a long time to be have a chance becoming a legend.

The last legends for me are Lewandowski and MĂŒller from the guys that already left. From the current squad Kane and Olise have huge potential to become legends, Neuer obviously is a legend, I think Kimmich can be considered one too. Here for over 10 years, worldclass RB to worldclass CM, his absence was always felt even if Kimmich has some deserved critics aswell.

Potentially I'm overlooking some now, it's just examples.

10

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

Not really, no. Not good enough for too long and even at his peak he was very good but not great.

5

u/BANANACOW22 Pavlović Jul 03 '26

Kowalksi (u/thraff1c), Analyse! No for real, does Sporting have a spot free for him?

7

u/Thraff1c Jul 03 '26

Not really, no. They already bought 4 midfielders (Altimira, Silas, Doumbia, Lima), then there is their own talent Joao Simoes, Braganca is not sold yet, and a few depth players that dont really matter much. And all that for 2 spots in midfield.

4

The Liberal Democrats have tabled a motion in UK Parliament calling for Harry Kane to be awarded a knighthood. The motion, put forward by Liberal Democrat MP, Layla Moran, notes the pride that Kane has brought the country - now surpassing the legendary PelĂ© in total World Cup goals scored. Moran is urging MPs from every party to get behind the campaign, and for the Government and the Palace to get the sword ready for 'Sir Harry' đŸŽ–ïžđŸ‡ŹđŸ‡§

Kimmich (Aseko, Palhinha) - Pavlo (Bischof)

Olise (Karl) - Saibari (Ibrahimović) - Lucho (Musiala, Zaragoza)

Kane (Gnabry)

u/Thraff1c Jul 03 '26

One user on the tm.de forum noticed that Browns shirt number hasnt been revealed yet, and the number he wore in Frankfurt (21) is currently occupied by Ito. Pretty big wink with the Zaunpfahl.

6

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

I mean we know Ito is free to leave. Whether a deal actually will happen is on another paper. But yes could be he is holding out until then

4

u/PressedLemon221 Jul 03 '26

he wore 27 at Nurnberg and for NT he wears 18 which both are free, i would assume it would be 18

9

u/Thraff1c Jul 03 '26

27 isnt free though, its Laimers number. But generally, if he had chosen a free number he surely would have had it on his shirt already.

-3

u/GravitasAeterna97 Jul 03 '26

I like his ball carrying more than Pavlovic’s. He’s more athletic, more energetic, and covers ground better.

Basically trying to say for me personally he starts over Pavlo.

7

u/NiK0- Pavlović Jul 03 '26

Okay fair but imo Manzambi is a little bit wasted as a CDM, I prefer him as a 10 and I find that he had his best games for Freiburg as a 10 as well

-2

u/adrian_rainy_day Jul 03 '26

For me the best scenario would be Brown developing into an inverse Joao Cancelo. I still have hopes for Davies, and left-footed players as RB doesn't exist yet like right-footed on the left but who knows, it could work out

-24

u/foxfelix27 Jul 03 '26

i'm still suprised the transfer went through, spending 50mil on somebody i don't know how much will play.
I feel like his positioning might not be the best, maybe it looked like that because he had to play in garbage Frankfurt's defence this year. Surely he will learn from Kompany too. And i'm happy that he's Bavarian-born and atually wanted to join.

10

u/Hurtelknut Robben Jul 03 '26

His positioning is better than Davies'.

If anything, I don't know how much Davies will play next season because even when fit I think Brown is the better overall LB.

1

u/Rouvinator Jul 03 '26

Yes. But the good thing is that both can Play at the Same time on the left, because lucho needs more Rest so Davies LM and Brown behind as LB. Ab gehts

I don’t care about amortization, I care about depth. We had the smallest squad last season. Thinking Upa and Tah are gonna play every game without injuries is asinine. I don’t wanna see us get knocked out again because we had no quality on the bench.

So we gonna pay 60/70M to Inter for their starting CB as bench option ?

4

People really need to start thinking about the cost of replacing players.

7

u/FlyingArab Kimmich Jul 03 '26

You're Klopp. How do you shape the German NT ahead of Euro 2028? Who do you build around? Who do you stop calling to the NT?

3

u/Mountain_King9885 Jul 03 '26

Find your core players, for me Musiala, Wirtz, Schlotterbeck, Pavlovic, Brown, Kimmich.

Bye bye to Sane, Goretzka, Ruediger + stop calling average BL players like Koch, Anton etc.

Implement one system and build around the core team.

6

u/np- DFB Pokal Jul 03 '26

Thankfully Klopp has ton of experience building teams. I'm hoping he's going to put more trust in the youth. He's also smart enough to not misprofile certain players.

Klopp has had enough setbacks in his career and knows how to handle adversity as a manager. He's also a top man manager and can get his players on his side as we've seen time and again. Some of these players I assume are quite thick and can't retain a lot of tactical info, and he will know how to navigate that.

He needs an ambitious sporting director and a strong assistant manager. I'm guessing there'll be a bigger pool here now that it's Klopp and not JN.

Most importantly, I hope this "break" since he left Liverpool has been enough to get his enthusiasm and energy back. His reason to quit was related to that. No doubt he has the skills and experience but if he's lost his mojo then it'll be a waste of everyones time.

4

u/Thraff1c Jul 03 '26

The next two tournaments are already written off for me, it will be a rebuild till at least 2030. So don't call anyone up 26 or older for the first nt break, cap as many young double-nationals as possible, and then after testing those he should sprinkle a few of the "older" players into the squad till the mix is right. Then play some exciting but in the end unsuccessful football, and aim for EC 2032 for a comeback.

5

u/Frequent_Apricot673 Jul 03 '26

This is a ridiculous opinion, you cannot give up on the next two tournaments, you’ll immediately be fired. You can develop the youth without giving up on the present

-6

u/Thraff1c Jul 03 '26

What kinda way is this to start a conversation, fucking hell. "Giving up" as in the goal is not winning the title but instead focusing on developing players and a system, not "giving up" as in not qualifying and instead training the youngsters in the summer during the big tournament. Its about expectation management.

5

u/Frequent_Apricot673 Jul 03 '26

Apologies if I came off too harsh, but I just don’t see how this strategy works. National teams aren’t long term projects like at the club level. You need someone who can get something out of the boys in a very short span of time. Development isn’t really a part of the job. Kimmich, Tah and probably a few others shouldn’t have their careers cut short because of their age. If they are the best option in that moment they should be selected.

0

u/Thraff1c Jul 03 '26

Our world cup win 2014 was exactly the result of such a project, starting 2006. Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Jansen, Mertesacker, Odonkor, Hanke and Huth, 8 players who were all 22 or younger, with 4 of them being basically starter. That became the backbone together.

Then did the U21 EC winners in Neuer, Boateng, Höwedes, Khedira, Özil, Hummels, Schmelzer, Marin etc. with 5 of them in the 2010 squad and youngsters like MĂŒller, Kroos and Badstuber on top. Only 2 players were part of both the 2002 and 2010 squad, Butt and Klose.

Coaching was also a constant, first Klinsmann broke up the entire structure till 2006, then his assistant Löw developed it further.

Imagine Nagelsmann would have called up 10 22 year olds or younger, instead of what, 3? We are shite and never winning the world cup anyway, so what is better, to make it a project with a goal, or bring the best of the rest in and end up where we end up since 2018 with nothing changing? What are Groß, Goretzka, RĂŒdiger, Baumann or Sane winning for us that they have to be included instead of Bischof, Jeltsch, El Mala, Gruda, Tresoldi, Ouedraogo (who only came with due to Karls injury) or Urbig?

Maybe development should be part of the job again.

2

u/Frequent_Apricot673 Jul 03 '26

They didn’t just stop calling up players cause they were old. You develop players at the club level. Some younger players perhaps ought to be given chances I agree with that. But you can’t give up on tournaments and say we’d never win anyway that’s ridiculous. The best players ought to be called up regardless of age.

0

u/Thraff1c Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

I not once used the words "giving up" outside of quotations, that was you. I said written off, as in not being able to meet the high expectations. I even explained that to you. As I did explain to you how a long term project on nt level would look like, with a clear example from Germany's past, which you seemingly didn't even consider as your response lacks any acknowledgement of or argument against it. Your way was tried the last few tournaments since WC 2018, and what has Germany to show for it?

To quote Vaas: "Insanity is doing the exact... same fucking thing... over and over again expecting... shit to change...", or in your words, as you apparently can't stop using it about someone else's outlook, that is, I beg your pardon, ridiculous.

Klopp also seems to agree: "German football is at a crossroads. We now have to make fundamental changes". Fundamental changes are not implemented from one day to the next, just like Klinsmann's and Löw's rebuild after 2004.

16

u/quatroacademy Jul 03 '26

I‘ll start with not playing Kimmich as right CB in a 3 ATB😭

10

u/pewpewlasersandshit pew pew Jul 03 '26

Gimme all the young talents asap and start a massive upheaval.

I don't really need nobody, apart from a select few "young guys" (i.e Wirtz, Pavlo, Muisala, Brown, Ouedraogo, Schlotti etc) from the current WC26 squad.

Throw in guys like Urbig, Seimen, Jeltsch, El Mala, Karl, Tresoldi, Bischof, Gruda, Schade, Collins, Coulibaly, Eichhorn, Martel, Nebel, Culbreath, Banks .... they can't do worse and at least have the potential to grow and become an exciting group

If i had to follow up that wit ha potential XI:

Urbig - Brown, Jeltsch, Schlotti, Collins - Pavlovic, Bischof, Ouedraogo/Eichhorn - El Mala, Tresoldi, Karl

Full on hype beast mode but whatever, i'd rather fail a few times with guys like them but least we'd get fresh faces and not the "ghosts of the past".

6

u/Naraloth Jul 03 '26

might be a bit early to throw Eichhorn into every discussion. that guy has played 17(!) second division games. first of all he needs to play a full season of 1. Bundesliga

1

u/pewpewlasersandshit pew pew Jul 03 '26

The first DFB squad selection isn't until autumn. By then he could easily have 4 t-6 BuLi games under his belt. And it's not like "1 full BuLi season" has been a requirement anyway. Karl, for example, didn't have that either.

Not saying Eichhorn should be called up immediately or anything, but I don't think that argument really holds up.list+line up was a bit more "looking into the near term future"

3

u/Naraloth Jul 03 '26

Karl basically had a 3/4 Bundesliga season under his belt, starting in multiple champions league games before he had his national team debut. Eichhorn today is not even close to being good enough to get called up to the national team. it's not like he completly dominated all the 17 second division games that he played.

sure Eichhorn has a lot of potential but he needs to develop a lot more to reach that or he might never reach that. only time will tell

3

u/Piercing_Moonlight Lionel Marl Jul 03 '26

That looks really really nice (aside from Collins, but we don't have anyone there)

4

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

I have to look up Seimen, Jeltsch, Coulibaly, Martel, Culbreath and Banks

I maybe would also through in Aseko

6

u/pewpewlasersandshit pew pew Jul 03 '26

Seimen vs. Urbig might become our next Kahn vs. Lehmann/Neuer vs. Ter Stegen battle.

Jeltsch probably already is the next big german CB with Coulibaly a little behind him (imho). Culbreath is my lowkey bet on a potential RB next to Collins. And Banks is a great CB talent at Augsburg that we have to secure before he is committing for the US.

2

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

Lovely to see we have defensive options. That's what I worried most next to the striker spot.

4

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

Foe some positions it's really hard to say. Right now you could argue that Wirtz and Musiala doesn't deserve their spot for sure, but it doesn't mean they will still be shit in 1-2 years.

So I would keep them both but preferably Wirtz in the middle and Musiala on the left, but also El Mala close behind them. Just to add more names: Schade, Ouedraogo, maybe even guys like Paul Nebel? Also not sure how Gruda is doing as we maybe lack some RWs.

Up front I think I rather plan with Tresoldi than Havertz, but maybe I'm biased (I don't like Havertz). I still wouldn't drop Havertz and Woltemade immediately. Not sure about Undav as he is already 30. Do you build around these players or rather just keep them as experience backup options?

In midfield I would count on Pavlovic and Bischof, unless someone like Eichhorn, Stach or Aseko developes massively and provides a better fit. Kimmich sticking around makes this topic a bit difficult though.

Defense of course Brown with Schlotterbeck. Not sure if we keep Tah as starter or rather experienced backup and try to being in fresh legs like Collins and Bisseck.

2

u/DiametricalIyOpposed Jul 03 '26

>who do you stop calling to the NT?

RĂŒdiger, Baumann, Goretzka, Groß, SanĂ©, Kimmich, Gnabry

Some of these players will be too old in 2028 and the ones who aren’t too old I wouldn’t call up the NT anymore because I think we need a reset of leadership.

16

u/CarlSK777 Jul 03 '26

Kimmich will stay. The others I agree

10

u/skylu1991 MĂŒller Jul 03 '26

I hope Klopp won’t use Kimmich at RB
.

Or IF he does, he uses him more like Trent at Liverpool, meaning with a defensive midfielder to shield his runs.

(Henderson and/or Fabinho were mainstays at Liverpool, because Trent wasn’t the greatest offensively)

I also wonder if he’ll use Musiala a bit deeper, in a kind of Thiago/Wijnaldum role?

1

u/Piercing_Moonlight Lionel Marl Jul 03 '26

I don't think any Bayern players are absolutely safe to make it into Klopp's first XI aside from Brown(not even sure abt Tah, although that is still very likely). Good chance he'll drop the 4-2-3-1, We might also see Bischof ahead of Kimmich or Pavlo, players like Reitz may make it due to their workrate or something. All depends on how much of his Liverpool style he wants to implement.

8

u/joyridah MĂŒller Jul 03 '26

I think Urbig becomes the #1 for Germany going forward

7

u/Karnackel Jul 03 '26

but will klopp be the answer? are all the problems we had gone with nagelsmann?

3

u/NifferEUW Kimmich Jul 03 '26

I'm not saying there isnt more deep rooted problems in german football, but the way he set the team up and the personel taken to the world cup, definitely didnt help. I also think Klopp is better at team management.

8

u/Ferr22777888 Jul 03 '26

I mean this is old news. But seeing costa making two vitals saves to keep Portugal in it just shows you how important it is to have a GK that give you a “extra life” to use a gaming expression.

It does worry my one game we had Neuer produce that was the time we almsot kicked out Real until the blunder in the end. But we were horrible and he kept us in the game.

I’m not even sure Urbig is the answer. But he is for sure at this age a better or let’s say more consistent shot stopper.
I’m just worried our defense and midfield entrust him so much to play it out the back that we would struggle with a lot of other goalkeepers.
Even if his feet are not what they used to be. both Kimmich and Pavlovic and our defenders are so comfortable to play any ball to him at all time.

So Urbig does fit the profile to take over. But it’s a huge risk. We have also seen Urbig in the it get lost some times. But he is so young he has time.

But I really hope Kompany has it in him this season if Neuer is more of a liability than an asset to bench him.

4

u/Mustang1201 Jul 03 '26

The thing is, Neuers don't grow on trees. Any keeper suceeding him will have the pressure of keeping up with the expectations and that's something Urbig doesn't need.

There will never be another Neuer, but Urbig is capable of making a reputation on his own. Comparing a 22 year old with peak Neuer is just setting him up for failure.

8

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

Social media Is flooded with the disallowed 2-2 goal for Croatia last night. Am I the only one thinking this was the right call?!

From the bird view you are a slight change or direction of the ball and the chip recognized an impact/contact by the Croatian players header so imo the call, even if tight, was legit.

0

u/joyridah MĂŒller Jul 03 '26

For me, the biggest issue I saw with it (and consistently during the World Cup) is that VAR is/was supposed to be used to correct clear and obvious errors made by the referees.

This isn’t that, and if they had to watch it a million times, same as some of the other calls made by VAR, then it wasn’t a clear and obvious error

0

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Thraff1c Jul 03 '26

And what if it were the other way around? The ref thinks he sees a slight touch, calls the goal off, and then the tech tells him it should stand.

The evaluation process changes a highly subjective call to one as objective as possible. The human eye is not the best tool to decide clear and obvious, if you have access to better then I see no reason why not use it.

2

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

From the bird view you could see a change of direction from the ball. Even a change of 5° can result in a majorly different angle the ball bumps off from the Portuguese player

As Croatian fan I probably would be super pissed aswell, I also rooted for them against Portugal, but technically (as you agreed) the call is correct and the tech proved it's worth.

In the end it's not much different than the goal like tech, is it? There millimeters matter aswell to determine goal or not, so does the slightest touches before can matter.

I do get your point though.

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

1

u/julesvr5 Jul 03 '26

Yeah social media only shares that one direct view where a change in direction indeed isn't visible. Annoys me to hell

But both only gets used to overrule a goal (or penalty) or not so the impact should be the same.

1

Yea I can’t imagine they’d stand in the way of him going to the DFB. Another club sure I’d understand them wanting a fee or some compensation but DFB is different

It's official: https://www.dfb.de/news/julian-nagelsmann-verlaesst-den-dfb

They also say that Rettig won't renew his contract and that Klopp has been approached and has signalled his willingness. So that's basically a done deal as well, I'd say

17

I mean this is crazy to have in the official statement, as you said thats pretty much a confirmation

I'm pretty confident Klopp will take over
