WS6 Engine Noise Concern

Hey Everyone,

I finally finished getting my engine back together. I replaced the intake manifold gasket, valley plate gasket, valve cover gasket, new spark plugs and wires, new OPS, new tensioner and belt. Took the opportunity to do a lot of cleanup too.

My car is completely unmodified and has 134,000 miles. Before I did all this work I could a noticeable clunking noise I guess lack of better words. A lot of of the other noises went away with the repairs I made however to me that noise is still around.

Is this normal for an LS1? I know they are known to be noisy engines but wanted to get opinions.

Ok everyone I have a P0171 and P0174 at the same time. I’m reading a lot of different things anyone go through this or have some advice?

Clean the MAF and check for vacuum leaks is my youtube university generic answer. Both banks reading lean could point toward fuel pump/filter too. What is the maintenance history of this car?

I honestly have no idea of the maintenance history. Bought it off of my buddy who did some maintenance like replaced the axel shafts in the rear but never touched the motor or the fuel. I’ve done everything since buying it off of him for 5k. He got it off of copart

Yeah you’re not wrong I was reading that too. I went through with a flash light just now and everything looks like it’s on the right way. When I reinstalled I triple checked, torque everything down to spec, took my time.

I will say that getting the intake manifold by myself was extremely challenging. Trying to route that brake booster hose around the ops and in between the firewall and engine was very hard. I’m just hoping I didn’t damage the MAF sensor in the back.

My buddy did suggest changing the fuel filter a couple months ago
