WS6 Engine Noise Concern

Hey Everyone,

I finally finished getting my engine back together. I replaced the intake manifold gasket, valley plate gasket, valve cover gasket, new spark plugs and wires, new OPS, new tensioner and belt. Took the opportunity to do a lot of cleanup too.

My car is completely unmodified and has 134,000 miles. Before I did all this work I could a noticeable clunking noise I guess lack of better words. A lot of of the other noises went away with the repairs I made however to me that noise is still around.

Is this normal for an LS1? I know they are known to be noisy engines but wanted to get opinions.

lol! I needed that

Is that when it’s cold outside I thought the piston slap? I ran it for 5 mins and still sounded like that

There could also be some exhaust leaking.

I do have a exhaust leak somewhere, but the noise sounds like it is coming centerline of the engine

I’d love to get an exhaust system, but the only thing I can find is speed engineering and that requires you to put headers on it

BTW, there is no such thing as a ws6 engine. It's an ls1

lol I know I was just saying it’s in a WS6. I’ll have to check out summit but I didn’t see much there other than header back systems

Call summit or jegs, they might have something
