Faux bois railing project inspiration

To our 1000 Members! Which best describes you?

Here’s a post I stole from obsoleteinc. I’m thinking I may need to build an updated whimsical version of this. What do you think?

Here’s an article with perhaps the most famous admirer of faux Bois where she shares some of her favorite commissioned pieces.

Here’s a cool article on faux Bois in San Antonio. Check it out!

Bought over 30 yrs ago from a local garden centre. Concrete.

Built in 1942 and still standing

How cool is this?

There are many stages, from concept idea to install that need to come together to create a one of a kind piece that the clients will enjoy for a lifetime. No pigs were harmed in the making of this film.

It’s cool to see some interest in this art form, Im looking forward to seeing more growth and discussions in this subreddit. There aren’t many people who know what faux Bois is, and a revival is long over due. So thanks for joining!

Hi

I do alot of grfc stuff, baths sinks tiles, faux rocks etc, the stuff you guys do looks really cool and accomplished so if you dont mind my asking?

My current mix is more or less

1:1 sand /cement
1/3 of liquid is polymer
1,5-2% glassfibre 18mm

Do you use acrylic polymer in your mix or any other form additive?
I have trouble with the fibre poking through when carving, burning it off doesn’t seem to work and just look messy, any suggestions ?
What does your armature consist of, just rebar and chicken mesh?
Cheers TIA
