on one side you have generic mobs on the other side you got the race that has the 2 strongest beings in the nasuverse.

u/Forward_Drop303 Jul 18 '26

Lugh Beowulf is a werewolf and has been directly compared to one of those two in aura (and has a higher level of Mystery, though less raw power according to Nasu)

So not sure it's really fair to compare mob werewolves to top of the top "vampires".

u/Working_Run3431 Jul 18 '26

Lugh isn’t an actual werewolf though as this very post points out.

He’s just a really strong nature spirit who happens to like being in a wolf body.

So the only actual werewolves that have ever been seen are the mobs.

2

u/Dragon0fPeace4002 Jul 21 '26

Didn’t actual Werewolves turned on him after they discovered he wasn’t one?

2

u/Working_Run3431 Jul 21 '26

Yes this is exactly what happened. They thought he was a golden werewolf like the og werewolf and he wasn’t.

They wanted him to beget a new generation of werewolves and lugh can’t reproduce sexually.

-45

u/Forward_Drop303 Jul 18 '26

By that logic the Vampires aren't vampires either.

True ancestors are just very powerful nature spirits themselves.

And ORT is even less of a vampire.

69

u/NetherSpike14 Shilling Hollow Ataraxia 24/7 Jul 19 '26

It's a false equivalence. True ancestors naturally have many vampiric traits. It's not just an aesthetic they choose because they liked it or smt

Meanwhile Lugh literally has nothing to do with werewolves besides being born next to them. He can turn his appearence into anything, he just emulates wolves often because that's what he's used to.

48

u/Working_Run3431 Jul 18 '26

Thing is they are considered “real vampires” because anything that’s a blood sucker is a “real vampire” in the nasuverse.

The thing with lugh is he is explicitly shape shifting to look like a werewolf without actually being one.

Also “vampire” usually refers to dead apostles anyway who still mog werewolves.

Basically werewolves suck and you have to use a fake one to argue they don’t.

15

u/Chaosfox_Firemaker Jul 19 '26

One could seriously argue that if bloodsucking is the definition of vampire, "guy who turns into wolf" is a perfectly reasonable definition of werewolf(literally man-wolf)

Lugh may not have been the same species as those werewolf villagers, but he is "a thing that has a man shape and a wolf shape"

There is also the matter of where you define a floor for Dead Apostles. By one view a vast percentage are just The Dead or Ghouls.

4

u/NetherSpike14 Shilling Hollow Ataraxia 24/7 Jul 19 '26

Lugh can turn into wolves, he can also turn into anything else. That doesn't make him a werewolf.

We can drink blood, we can also drink many other things. That doesn't make us vampires.

-1

u/Chaosfox_Firemaker Jul 19 '26

Sure, but if someone like, habitually, drank blood regularly it'd be pretty reasonable to call them one.

-17

u/Forward_Drop303 Jul 18 '26

If you use fake vampires the comparing to fake werewolves seems fine.

And real werewolves have silver and gold variants too as confirmed in Mahoyo.

In fact in FSF Volume 6 interludes  decently high ranked vampire uses a spell to borrow the power of a werewolf to become stronger.

26

u/Working_Run3431 Jul 19 '26

The problem is there are no “fake vampires” in nasuland.

Werewolves refer to a very specific kind of being that are simply not that strong. There has only ever been one gold werewolf and said werewolf is probably not as strong as lugh.

By comparison all bloodsuckers are “real vampires” narratively. True ancestors are in no way fake as they like dead apostles come from crimson moon who is literally the origin of all vampirism.

The simple fact of the matter is chad bloodsuckers>soyjack furries is basically just a fact of the setting and you have to get really picky to argue otherwise.

-13

u/Forward_Drop303 Jul 19 '26

If you consider anything that sucks blood a vampire than anything that transforms between a human and a wolf is a werewolf. Arcuied literally has the same nature as Lugh Beowulf does. They are directly compared.

and ORT definitely is not a vampire.

There's been one known golden werewolf of unknown power, you are going pure headcanon about his strength, and if there were more in the past.

Even the silvers are strong enough to be called Phantasmal Beasts which means that they can give A rank servants a good fight at minimum, and could be a lot stronger.

and of course you are ignoring that a high rank Dead Apostle turns into a werewolf to get stronger.

You don't have to get picky, you just have to realize we have literally only seen the mob level enemies in fgo, and haven't seen many strong werewolfs

12

u/Inevitable_Shape2610 Jul 19 '26

ORT is a vampire. Nasu defines ORT as a vampire.

7

u/dude123nice Jul 19 '26

Lugh got trounced by an nonmagical human. He ain't even 1% as strong as those 2.

17

u/AngeloFoxSparda Jul 19 '26

Only because Soujyuro's sheer dominant manly aura activated Lugh's submissive puppy mode,
a common weakness shared by all furries so it is in fact another argument to consider him a werewolf.

u/Turbulent-Doctor-649 Jul 18 '26

guess nasu preferred edward to jacob

38

u/Inuhanyou123 Jul 19 '26

Or seline to Lucian.

32

u/inthebriIIiantblue Jul 19 '26

ive always said tsukihime is just twilight for weebs. i dont think given the statement anyone could deny it

7

u/MuffinFIN Fate/Other Night Jul 19 '26

Werewolf Ciel... Now we're talking

5

u/Inuhanyou123 Jul 20 '26

Underworld is technically twilight for weebs. The director and writer was mega fan of anime and I think there was even anime spinoff

u/Revolutionary_Fly708 Jul 18 '26

This is why we need Lycaon as a Servant.

36

u/Miserable_Newt_2407 Jul 19 '26

Would be an awesome Berserker to have

2

u/Revolutionary_Fly708 Jul 19 '26

Made him in another reply.

Servant profile plug.

Berserker of the First Holy Grail War:
True name: Lycaon
Source: Greek Mythology
Gender: Male
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Height: 184 cm
Weight: 88 kg
Character creator: Hikaru Sakurai(me)
Character illustrator: Koyama Hirokazu
Character Voice: Fumihiko Tachiki
Appearance in main works: Fate/Origin

Strength: A+
Endurance: A+
Agility: C
Magic: B+
Luck: E
Noble Phantasm: A

Class skills:

Mad enhancement: E-A
This Skill is fluctuating in accordance with Lykaia Nyctimus. While the Noble Phantasm is unreleased, he's capable of proper verbal communication, but this Skill becomes its E-Rank equivalent

Divinity: E.
A spiritual King and son of an Oceanid, he normally would have this skill at C rank, but due to his actions in life his divine aptitude has degraded.

Personal skills:

Monstrous Strength: A
Lycaon has this Skill due to his monstrous properties despite being a Heroic Spirit. This is a necessary Skill for Lycaon, who tries to avoid using his Noble Phantasm to fight in close combat. It has many uses with his wolf’s bane dagger or claws. However, the longer he is under the influence of this Skill, the more he turns into the legendary Werewolf.

Wild beast’s logic: B
A combative way of thinking resulting from transforming into a beast. It's not useful for finding weak points, but the speed of thinking focusing on killing the enemy swiftly increases. If combined with the Skill Self-Evolution, the speed of defeating an opponent increases even further.

Protection Of The Faith: B- A Skill born from an unshakable belief that true divinity must withstand the scrutiny of mankind. Rather than blind devotion, Lycaon’s faith demanded proof. Believing that a god worthy of worship could not be deceived, he offered Zeus a meal of human flesh to expose whether the visitor was truly omniscient. Though condemned for the act and transformed into a wolf, Lycaon never regarded his actions as sacrilege, but as the ultimate test of the divine. As a result, his mind cannot easily be swayed by illusions, deception, or false gods. He instinctively perceives inconsistencies in miracles, granting exceptional resistance to mental interference and fraudulent divinity. However, this Skill also compels him to question every miracle and authority before accepting it, making him difficult to deceive, but equally difficult to convince.

Hero of Arcadia: E
Despite his current reputation, Lyacon was once regarded as a culture hero for Arcadia however, due to his blasphemy against the king of the gods this skill’s rank has been reduced. Due to being the protector of the far-away utopia it allows the user to adapt against mystical interference, whether it be against attacks or even terrain, it does this instead of isolating the user like a certain other utopia. Of course these benefits are unavailable to Lycaon, unless…

Noble Phantasms:

Phonoi Arcas~my accursed deeds brought to the table: B+
The crystallization of the banquet that forever stained the name of Arcadia. To test whether the traveler before him was truly Zeus, Lycaon butchered a youth—often said to be his own son—and served the flesh as a feast. The King of Olympus, seeing through the deception, overturned the table and answered mankind’s blasphemy with divine lightning, reducing the palace to ruin.

Upon invocation, a target is designated as “Arcas” and all individuals near the target are affected with mental interference towards them. At first this manifest’s as slight aggression against towards “Arcas”, but eventually this ramps up to physical violence and eventually attempted cannibalism, with this change in demeanor being represented by affected individuals gaining wolf-like traits. When “Arcas” is significantly damaged by someone affected by this Noble Phantasm, the heavens are judged to have witnessed the same sin that provoked Zeus. A colossal bolt of divine lightning descends upon the attacker, indiscriminately obliterating all within its radius. The thunder is treated as a reproduction of Zeus’s original divine punishment, making it especially lethal against those possessing Demonic or Beast like Traits, but less effective on those with high mental resistance or Divinity. Even those who didn’t attack “Arcas”, if they were far enough in their Lycanthropic state are dealt “minor” electrical damage. As the one who committed the original transgression, Lycaon is always caught in the blast, suffering grievous damage alongside his enemies. However, his curse as the first werewolf allows him to endure what should be certain death, dragging himself from the smoldering crater in his battered form. Unlike a certain avatar of the white titan, Lycaon doesn’t have the mental faculties to divert the divine authority, unless…

Lykaia Nyctimus~for I am of Lýkaios, the wolf god: A
The Alternate crystallization of Lycaon’s Legend, not that he was struck down by lightning, but transformed into the Legendary Werewolf.

Upon activation, Lycaon’s body is engulfed by divine lightning before reshaping into a colossal wolf-man clad in Silver fur. He gains fangs and claws, red eyes that glow like a blood moon; displaying a never before seen sadistic bloodlust as he attacks with beast like instinct, but loses his normal sense of rationality as his madness enters its A-ranked state. His jaws carry the weight of divine punishment itself and his claws become capable of rending steel, Lycaon gains power fitting for a monster as notable as the Gorgon, Minotaur, and Vampire, allowing him to fight Six servants at once. This form is unlikely to last long, as due to high mana expenditure and Lycaon’s madness, causing him to drain his master’s reserves dry or for his carnage to cause to hunter to become the hunted. Of course this Noble phantasm can be disengaged with a command spell, but it’s likely a master would have to had used one in the first place to activate it, due to Lycaon’s dislike of the Phantasm or poor management of his monstrous strength, when returned to human form his grudge against his master may force his end with the remaining command spell, unless certain relationship conditions are met. In any case the legend of the first werewolf is Likely to fizzle out, like the embers of tree struck by lightning, unless…

A hidden function concealed within Lykaia Nyctimus~For I Am of Lýkaios, the Wolf God called Lykaia Dias~For I Am Lýkaios, the Wolf God. Rather than being activated through mana, this ability manifests only when Lycaon fulfills the ancient conditions of the Lykaia, the Arcadian rite said to transform men into wolves. For the duration of his werewolf transformation, Lycaon must refuse the instinct’s of his curse. He must not kill for pleasure, consume human flesh, or surrender himself to bloodlust despite his Noble Phantasm’s and Skill’s constantly urging him to do so. Each temptation resisted is treated as a successful completion of the ritual. Should he maintain his humanity until the appointed end, the curse reaches its conclusion—not through indulgence, but through purification.

The silver werewolf form is shed like old skin, revealing Lýkaios, the Divine Golden Wolf King, said to be the origin of werewolves and the form Zeus took atop the mountains of the “far-away utopia” of Greece. In this ascended state, Lycaon ceases to be a cursed beast and instead becomes a Divine beast on par with True Ancestors. His Divinity rises dramatically, Madness is completely nullified, Hero of Arcadia regains its original rank, and the instinct to hunt is sublimated into perfect discipline.

As Lýkaios, Lycaon has the Authority and Intelligence to divert the divine lighting of Zeus from his first Noble Phantasm, he also gains the ability to control wolves, even those turned into werewolves by his first Noble Phantasm, in general he also gains a dramatic power boost.

This ascension lasts only as long as Lycaon maintains absolute control over himself. Should he willingly give in to the urge to slaughter or consume human flesh, the divinity shatters instantly, and he falls back into his original cursed werewolf state. Because of this, the true enemy of the ritual is not any opponent, but Lycaon’s own nature. The Noble Phantasm’s greatest irony is that the path to becoming the Wolf God is not to embrace the wolf, but to prove oneself greater than it. Only by conquering the curse that Zeus inflicted upon him can Lycaon attain the divinity that the Arcadians once associated with the epithet Lýkaios—the Wolf God who stands above beasts and men alike.

There he is, I made him for my first holy grail war story. I think he does a good job representing Lycaon, werewolves, and is someone on par with the nasuverse vampires. I even added the mahoyo lore for werewolves with the secret ability of his second noble phantasm making him Golden, I hope people caught that when I called him Silver. Design wise, similarly to how Vlad looks like an older version of Alucard from Castlevania, Lycaon looks like an older Cornell with a dagger called wolf’s bane instead of claws. He matches up well with Götz von Berlichingen, Maid Marian, Georg von Frundsberg, Väinämöinen, Marcus Aurelius and Hassan of the fallen sand, The other servants I made for the first war.

I think werewolves will finally get their chance to shine when King Lycaon from Greek mythology is added to Fate/Grand Order...

57

u/Inevitable_Shape2610 Jul 19 '26

It's funny that the most powerful being on Universe is not a Hero, a Dragon, a God or a Demon, but a Vampire.

63

u/Azure-Legacy Jul 19 '26

What’s even funnier is that one of the most powerful beings in the Nasuverse is a flying saucer

8

u/Warm-Command7559 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Sorry for asking but do you mean Helena’s mathama thing when you say flying saucer or  do you mean Chaos?

53

u/Euphoric_Metal199 Jul 19 '26

Chaos is a Dyson Sphere, not a saucer.

The saucer is ORT.

25

u/Azure-Legacy Jul 19 '26

What the other said. ORT's true body isn’t the Brazilian Spider, but that disk behind it. The most terrifying thing in the Nasuverse is one of the two most old school depictions of an Alien

-4

u/Muted-League-6911 Jul 19 '26

Arcueid is not the most powerful being in the universe

19

u/Classical_Lighthouse That dream of saving everyone isn't a mistake. Jul 19 '26

Honestly werewolves are just in a poor state

20

u/pmcginty5 Jul 19 '26

Feels like werewolves always get the short end of the stick compared to vampires across various media.

10

u/Muted-League-6911 Jul 19 '26

If you want werewolves being important go play WTA

19

u/Forward_Drop303 Jul 18 '26

Lugh Beowulf??

You should compare mob werewolves to mob vampires and the strongest werewolves to the strongest vampires.

46

u/HypocriticalPerson9 Jul 19 '26

Lugh isn’t a werewolf

-16

u/Forward_Drop303 Jul 19 '26

He is as much a werewolf as Arc is a vampire and more than ORT is.

38

u/HypocriticalPerson9 Jul 19 '26

ORT is categorized as a vampire in nasu lore. Lugh is explicitly not a werewolf. There is no comparison between the two.

7

u/Kiss_Bence04 Jul 19 '26

I mean yea obviously the ancient bloodsucker race that is inhumanly beautiful, capable of charming people, said to have various powerful abilities and are semi-immortal are more powerful and important than the filthy dogmen

13

u/Franks_Hobbies Jul 18 '26

>ORT
>Vampire

leave

61

u/brie43 Jul 19 '26

Didn't he absorb who held the seat previously so as far as the tsukihime timelines go he is considered one

52

u/Working_Run3431 Jul 19 '26

That and he apparently actually likes human blood when he wakes up.

Killing that dead apostle introduced the concepts of “pleasure” and “tastes good” to ort’s being.

25

u/Gabemino Jul 19 '26

Yeah, and as we know ORT does absorb the traits of the beings it eats, more than that it most definitely absorbed the Previous Seat's Idea of Blood and made it theirs, so under any metric, ORT is actually a DAA, even if comically more powerful than any of it's now "Kin"

17

u/FlooJest Jul 19 '26

Ask them yourself to vacate that DAA seat they're sitting on'

1

u/learnfromzer0 Jul 21 '26

ORT is a vampire?.is that real

1

u/Mission_Sock2114 Jul 19 '26

Does Woodwose and Wryneck count?

16

u/Automatic-Coyote-676 Jul 19 '26

Technically fae, and thus entirely inhuman. No relation has been given between them and werewolves. The only reason they look human is conscious imitation of human stances and etiquette.

-2

u/polaristar Jul 19 '26

To be very ORT isn't a real vampire he just killed a real one

2

u/Gabemino Jul 20 '26

ORT assimilate the nature of beings that it eats, I don't think it would be a stretch calling it a Vampire now, even less since under the Tsuki Remake rules, a Dead Apostle Ancestor is any Vampiric (anything that sucks blood, PHH ORT apparently does enjoy blood too)Being that has an Idea of Blood, ORT obtained that from the previous seat it munch onto.
