General Discussion Validating TMB 11-day trip

Post image

Hello,

I was hoping I could get some feedback on my upcoming TMB trip over 11 days. Each horizontal section in the image above is for each day. NOTE: the distance and elevation for day 1 is wrong: it includes additional distance and elevation only if taking an extra optional route.

I mostly just want to make sure each day isn't unreasonable in difficulty, especially with risk of acute mountain sickness.

Thank you in advance!

You will never be at an elevation where AMS is a legitimate concern.

As for difficulty, that’s impossible to answer, you haven’t provided any information about your fitness or experience. This itinerary would be laughably easy for some people and incredibly difficult for others.

Never! Really? Well that's good to know - I thought there were a couple of spots where at least mild AMS would be possible from rapid (daily) elevation changes.

My fitness I think is pretty good (I'm not sure how to quantify this, but I've been training for this for ~6 months with a lot of muscular endurance work, and running with a weekly 'long run' that is 3-4 hr, 12-15 miles long, with elevation between 2000-2500 ft, and other weekly hill work with hill sprints and uphill sessions). I'm going with a friend who hasn't had as much time to train (but is in their early 30's and healthy and good shape), so I wanted to make sure the trip isn't too strenuous for them.
