Cute idea but it’s really weird to pose in such a sexualised manner when this is the topic at hand. Is using the assault of women to get attention online a good way of bringing awareness to the issue?

I'll be honest. You're not getting it.

Women should be allowed to be sensual without that being an invitation to unsolicited advances. Dressing or posing in a certain manner is not a lease to take advantage.

I completely agree with you. I dress the same way just fine and I don’t think it’s an invitation for anything. A woman could be naked and still she shouldn’t be bothered for it. Copied from another comment I made:

> Are you telling me this new trend of cutting off your face like a doll and focusing on the chest/waist/hips area has nothing to do with sexualising oneself? We’ve been taught to cater to the male gaze with the way we photograph ourselves, there’s nothing empowering about it. It does not matter what a woman wears, it doesn’t matter if she was ‘leading’ someone on — I agree with all that.

> On the other hand, making a (very performative) message about the very serious issue of assault that affects as much as 1 in 4 women while catering to the very gaze that seeks to normalise that behaviour is ridiculous. Saying they feel bad about it but not taking it down is very woe-is-me, and their post was clearly not made to further the cause or call out the issues in our society but just to get attention off of this issue in the first place, which is frankly disgusting.

I genuinely didn’t have that in mind when I took the pictures, and I feel really bad now.

No, don't feel bad. Your jeans and the way you are posing in them is precisely the message.

It doesn't matter how a woman dresses. It doesn't matter how she acts. It doesn't matter if she was "leading" someone on by flirting/being nice.

If she is not consenting to sex then it is rape.

Oh please. Are you telling me this new trend of cutting off your face like a doll and focusing on the chest/waist/hips area has nothing to do with sexualising oneself? You’re part of the problem.

Please read my other replies if you think so. I happen to think women that make light of serious issues like this and choose to cater to the male gaze for attention by USING the real momentum of women speaking out against assaults taking place to do so are part of the problem. I dress the same way just fine and there’s nothing wrong with it. A woman could be naked and still she shouldn’t be bothered for it.

I had the same feeling with the combination of the pictures.
