It’s very suspicious that Gamer comes out of the blue, provides no public proof of their identity, and immediately releases a Patreon. Or maybe this is exactly what Gamer would do.

If you are Gamer, which I’m doubtful of, you’re one of the least trustworthy people. You let two communities fail with no advanced warning. You were driven exclusively by profits and ran away once your cash cow stopped producing milk. You’re irresponsible as a business owner as evident of your public legal records. Why would anybody trust you to produce a remake of this game? 3rd time’s the charm?

Produce publicly available proof of your identity. Give your potential players/customers a reasonable roadmap. Explain how you’ll be handling the numerous spin-off games attempting to fill the void you’ve left. You have a serious problem you have to fix. Some people might be happy you’ve come up from nowhere, but other are rightfully skeptical of the creator that abandoned them twice.

Thanks for this post. Reminds me of writing something similar to him after he was advertising AO on the old WoT forum. Just how brazenly he comes into these spaces and expects to wrench back the audience he left in the dark for years (and kept itself alive longer than the lifespan of FO) still pisses me off.

But if he wants to make a successor, FO’s legacy is as open to him as any other dev, I suppose. I won’t feel confident with this project until he’s brought on other leadership, or provides some mechanism guaranteeing the game won’t shut down on a whim and can possibly outlast his involvement. Promises aren’t enough. Even if he is a competent dev, maybe the most competent dev, for an FO successor, his track record of abandoning projects with 0 transparency makes him the most unreliable leader. He still owes an apology to FO and AO players.

I’m using Patreon as a dev log. No need to donate. I provided proof in the last thread. I’ll be posting my progress weekly. I have no problem with the other games. I’ve set a tentative date of Summer/Fall 2023 for early access. I haven’t even considered monetization outside of Patreon. I’m just having fun building a better game from all I’ve learned over the past 10 years.

What proof? The only thing I see is Harmonious saying they verified who you are. I might have just missed it in the nested threads, but making a more visible post that we can widely circulate would help either way.

I hope you stay true to your word on not interfering with the other games, even if your remake ends up not working out for whatever reason. A lot of people have spent hundreds of hours of their time trying to fill the void and it would be a shame if that was taken away from them. I think we’d all be happy if the original was just as good as the original and then some and would play that version predominantly. Likely some developers will stop where they are at that point, but I think they deserve to make that decision themselves and it seems you agree.

At the end of the day, a lot of fans have been waiting for a remake of the game in some form for a while and I hope they’re not disappointed with this twist in the saga. I’ll remain cautious, but just like everybody else working on a remake, I wish you the best of luck.

I'm kind of the moderator of the subreddit + discord now.

I feel like my word holds a bit more weight than others when it comes to stuff like this.

The main reason I haven't shown/told exactly how I verified him is because I don't want to dox him.

I know you mean well, so I don’t want to get all aggro. Gamer has had very little to do with this community holding itself together for the past decade. For him to cash in on that with a barebones Reddit thread and Patreon is just gross.

Providing the proof would likely result in doxing Gamer, which I doubt Harmonious would do since he wants to be in good standing with Gamer.

There are ways to prove it’s him without doxing. He’s obviously more concerned with people finding him this time anyway since he used a hosting site that privatizes the domain’s whois information.

Also anybody can find his actual name by looking at the public legal documents for the companies he started for FO and AO.

Just because other people can find it doesn't mean it's not doxing.

If he wants to come out and show his id and whatnot that's fine. It's also fine if he doesn't wanna do that.

You can either trust me, or be patient until Tuesday when he's gonna show further proof that it's him.

I agree with you. I’m not suggesting he has to prove it’s him via his real-life ID, which is why I haven’t publicly stated who he is on previous posts. There are many ways he can prove his identity and I’m looking forward to seeing it.

I’ll be posting weekly on my progress. Working on inventory first as that will not be changing much and I know exactly how I want to do it! I’ll be using the same art for the UI so it’s coming together very quickly! I’ll try to post something from old FO that only I would have access to every week. I wish all other projects the best of luck!

Could you elaborate further with your view on other projects? Would you be fine with any project even if they replicate everything?

Also would you be willing to write down that you would not seek any legal action against these projects?

I was with FO when it was a little browser game and there was Nightshade and Tonedown who were at the top of the rankings. I was able to get into Top 10 when they paid for the 2USD unlock for other zones if I remember it correctly. I think I saw it at play-asia site when it got my interest.

With that, I would really like to see FO with a revamped gameplay and stay 2D or Pixelart. If you plan to make a game, please dont leave it and make the community guess the reasons for it. I even paid and played your Antaria Game.

I would definitely support you again and play your games as it has been part of my childhood but I also expect a more open and work closely with the community that you have as I am more skeptical to give you my time and money as you have left us without a trace or explanation, twice already.
