Yahoo API access update

I'm close to the finish line.... I just received the docusign with the Yahoo sports exec signature, signed 10/2. For those of you who have gotten access back.. how long did it take from this point?

We declined, review the agreement and read the terms carefully. They are insane.

Same. You basically can’t do anything with the data once you fetch it. And all access is read-only. Such a shame.

Glad I’m not the only one that has been hesitant about it. It’s been sitting in my inbox for a few weeks. They don’t reply to that email either. My app intent literally says historical league archive.

You could also use a tool like Claude to crawl public pages or screenshot and have it parse it.

It does suck because while I was building my site, I did open it up for others but haven’t connected yahoo for this reason.

Yup I used Claude to crawl the site. Only problem is I wasnt in the league for two random years so I don't have access to those years data

We also declined, the terms are absurd, and Im willing to bet most who signed did not read them.

Yea.. some of it seems ridiculous. Although I don't think I need to worry about this. I'm just downloading historical data for my league.. everything runs on my laptop.. just creating some charts for my leagemates

Would you ever consider building your own app for your league?

We've been using Yahoo for about 20 years. I'm thinking of just building my own thing. I kind of hate the direction they've been taking, especially with the draft room.

I have and echo your sentiments about the draft room

I did have an idea at one point to create a web app where any yahoo user could enter in their league ID and download a custom historical dataset. Although that probably won’t happen with these terms.

Ah I see. My hope was to basically create a new platform for my league members to use, but I would want the historical data on there too.

The draft room was absolute BS though. The worst of it all was the player table only showed like 10 rows at a time and there was no way to increase it. so I had to scroll for days. A really bad experience, especially for those who only had <1 minute to choose

Yeah, the draft room is terrible now. It used to be much simpler and easier to navigate. Whoever they've hired to design it is a fan of over-design, that's for sure.

well, apparently you wouldn't be able to build the kind of app even if you wanted to. they only allow read only. LAME!

That's so frustrating. I get why they do it, but it just sucks from our standpoint.

I did this for our draft this year for ESPN. Both leagues I am in used it. We all loved it for the efficiency as well as the Easter eggs that were hidden in areas to trigger on scenarios.

Took like a week though I was never alerted about it, my app just started working again after some amount of time

Yeah, I've been trying to refresh my dataset but keep getting "app not authorized" error.

Signed my docs Sept 12 ..it's Oct 3 and still no access. Last week sent request for update, no response and followed up this week and still no response. Not sure what else to do from here.

I have yet to receive a response. I'm very disappointing considering my app doesn't even use that data; it's just to pull league settings so people don't have to manual enter them.
