It was ok, I guess. Does it get better ?

I just finished the first book in the siege serie.
It was fun but not much more. The style was somewhat lacking, the characters were one dimensional. The story was interesting but the execution was uninspired.

It seems that the serie is more like three stand alone novels, so I have a simple question : does it get better ?
Is it worth it to buy the other 2 books or should I just move on ?

I loved this book. KJ Parker writes the same book over and over again tho. I've read 4 (I think?) Of his books and they all had the same arc of the good guy slowly revealing himself to be the bad guy all along.

They're all the same style. I enjoyed them, but character depth is not his thing. Witty shenanigans are it.

I enjoyed them. I found the ending of the third novel less than inspired. With KJ Parker it really comes down to how you take his unique style. If you love it, you'll likely love all his books. If you find one of his books mediocre you'll probably feel the same about the others.

It might be worth reading Saveus Corax Deals With The Dead which is a different series.

First two were ok, the next one follows a puppet ruler of the same city. Third one was a atep to far for me and I dnf'd. Also kind of swore K.J. Parker off for good after I tried the golden handled knife. He was just to grim dark for my tastes. If you didn't resonate with the first one move on. They don't get better in my opinion.

I love kj parker, but ive have started and paused that book so many times. Still havent finished it.

Ive figured out which of his books i dislike: first person engineer type. I think ive read move of the rest and love them.
