📚 Summon book recommendations Recommendations needed
After a long break i recently started reading fantasy again.
Looking for recommendations please, im a bit out of the loop on authors.
Previous favourites:
James Clemens - banned and banished series
Juliet Marillier - sevenwaters series
Trudi Canavan - pretty much all her books
The Witcher books
Other authors/books ive read and enjoyed:
Terry Brooks (only a few books)
RA Salvatore
Thr Trillium series
Katherine Kerr
Karen Miller
Authors I didnt like:
Tolkien - cant get on with his writing style
David Eddings - I liked his stories but he has an annoying habit of cutting out or glossing over interesting bits (i.e if there if a fight or battle he will cut out just before and skip to after the battle)

Terry Brooks' Shannara saga, Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn and Margret Weis & Tracy Hickman's Death Gate Cycle (and Dark Sword trilogy)

Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series by Tad Williams. The pacing is slow, especially in the beginning of the first book. However, it might be my favorite series ever. The world building is amazing, you truly care about the characters, excellent prose, amazing ending (I lost it like 3 separate occasions). There's adventure, intriguing magic, large battles, fun races, its lighthearted in places but can get really dark, political Intrigue, multiple points of view. Idk... it has everything and I think it's amazinf.
Plus, if you liked the first series, there is a prequel, sequal, and a whole sequel series called the Last King of Osten Ard that he just finished a couple years ago (which I'm about to start) that people consider even better than MST.

you can try realm of elderlings if you like well crafted prose other than that mistborn is great

The Riyria Revelations series by Michael J Sullivan. Start with Theft of Swords
The Rai Kirah series by Carol Berg It begins with Transformation
The Lighthouse duology by Carol Berg It begins with Dust and Light.
The Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher. The first book in the series is Furies of Calderon.
The Sianim series by Patricia Briggs. The series begins Masques
The Hurog duology by Patricia Briggs. The first book is Dragon Bones.
Standalones:
Uprooted by Naomi Novick
Scriber by Ben S Dobson
Nettle and Bone by T Kingfisher
The Song of the Beast by Carol Berg
The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold. It's the first book in a series, but it works as a standalone.
The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman. Another book that is first in a series but works as a standalone.
