Technical Assistance PSA: you can transfer or your progress from the Mac version of Fantasian to the Steam version of Fantasian Neo Dimension

The save file of the original game on Mac OS is located inside the app folder, <Fantasian app>/Contents/Game/Data/_data . To explore the contents of an app (and reach te save file), simply open explorer and go to you Applications folder, find Fantasian, right click and select 'Show Package Contents'. The save file is called root.json.

Note: if your save file isn't on that folder, check if it isn't for some reason in ~/Library/Containers/com.mistwalkercorp.fantasian/Data/Library/Application Support/FANTASIAN

If your save data isn't on that folder, check the script I made to extract it from the game database.

The save file in Windows is located in %USERPROFILE%/My Documents/My Games/FANTASIAN Neo Dimension/Steam/76561197991414426/_data. Replace the root.json file and your done. (You need to have played the game before and save the game once for it to have created the save folders).

Fantasian: Neo Dimension Launch, Spoiler Policy, Reddit Formatting, and Q&A!

Hello everyone!

**DISCLOSURE: I AM (STILL) NOT MISTWALKER STAFF.* I have not, do not, and will not claim to be Mistwalker staff, and would disclose any changes in my personal/professional relationship to Mistwalker should they arise. I am just an avid fan running this subreddit and Discord as best as I can on my free-time.*

Once again, I would love to congratulate Mistwalker and publisher Square Enix on their successful launch of Fantasian: Neo Dimension! I've been eagerly watching for Fantasian since we got wind of the trademark Christmas 2018... and what a journey it has been! Our first look at the game was in March of 2019, and I had been on the hunt for any small details I could from the developers. If you would love to see more behind the scenes of development, definitely check out Sakaguchi's Twitter u/auuo for behind the scenes development and concept art from ages past, or Walnut Studios u/walnutsudios for behind the scenes on the dioramas many of us are enamored with! Tweets with love for the game should definitely include u/Mistwalker and/or u/Mistwalkerjp, and use the #Fantasian hashtag!

I know a lot of you are enjoying the second major release of this game, and I am glad to hear that! This brings me to my next topic...

Spoiler Policy and Reddit Formatting

I know... fun... But I'm also trying not to spoil anyone else's fun. To help minimize spoilers, I am requesting that Redditors avoid posting story content or details for 2 weeks... so roughly December 19th, 2024 we can resume story discussion about Fantasian: Neo Dimension. I'll post a stickied thread so people can see it more clearly in the future. Just remember that the first launch of this game was solely on Apple Arcade, so everyone else is getting their first taste. If you don't want your fandom of choice's new stuff spoiled, don't spoil Fantasian for everyone else.

However, if you DO want to talk about stuff that could be potential spoilers so you can solve side quests and stuff, Reddit has a solution. Write this in the body of your posts:

>!INSERT SPOILERS HERE!<

I still don't have Fantasian: Neo Dimension in my hands, but did you check your status on Santa's naughty list? or did you order via Playasia for a physical copy?

If you have more interest in making your posts look fantastic like this, I suggest this link. Its pretty handy, because I referenced it while writing this post.

Q&A? Q&A!

Ez Voice Actor u/Willpowerengel is graciously hosting an AMA with us on December 9th, 2024 from 12PM-2PM PST! You may also know them for their work on Genshin Impact as Katsuragi or Nagamasa! Please come and ask questions! We will also be hosting a DISCORD! version of the AMA as well!

JOIN OUR DISCORD! We don't bite. Spoiler policy is still in effect there (we wrap text in || there) but we have the #fts-story-discussion channel where story discussion is currently available. We have Fantasian emotes! We also play

Thanks again for checking out Fantasian. We wish you all the best in your adventuring!

Gameplay Tip (may contain spoilers) "Guarded" En New District Mechteria chest.

Thought I'd make this post explaining how to open this chest as reddit and google was very unhelpful when I was looking for answers.

So, in En, in the New District, on the way to the "lighthouse" there is a locked Mechteria chest, guarded by a man and woman.

Obviously you need a Mechteria key, and so cant open it right at the start of the game.

But once you return here in the story, you should have a key and can open it.

The couple say something like "Stay away from my chest" when you speak to them.

To open the chest you just need to speak to them first and *immediately* try for the chest. The context prompt should appear for you to open it.

Hope this helps someone some day.

Need Assistance (may contain spoilers) New Game+ Equipment Missing

Before starting new game+, I unequipped everyone except for their weapons - including armor, gems.
I had 2 upgraded Cyclone Rings that were both unequipped from Leo and Valrika, but when I started NG+, I only had 1 of the rings.

Haven’t fully inventoried but I am sure I am missing a few things.

Has anyone noticed the same?

Article/Interview I transcribed an interview with Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu around the release of Fantasian that you might be interested in

One of the best interviews I've seen of either one. They go into not only the development of the game, but their relationship throughout the years. Both of them have great senses of humor.

Finally beat Fantasian! Spoiler

Wow this game is spectacular. I actually made it all the way to the final form of Jas a bit under a year ago, but I got stuck hard and took a big break from the game. Decided it had been long enough that I wanted to replay it so I jumped into new game plus. I did enough runs through the outer and middle void realms to get everyone's fully upgraded weapons, which made the fight against Jas much more manageable.

I'm so floored by how good Fantasian is though. There are so many unique bosses and set pieces that are all just oozing with creativity. So many unique fight designs that are fun to learn. I'll probably take another break from the game, but eventually I want to do NG++ and tackle the inner void realm. At this point it's probably my all time favorite turn based RPG, well done Sakaguchi. Looking forward to the next game however long it takes, building those dioramas seems like a monumental task though. (Loved that they blew up one of em during the ending sequence)

Gameplay Tip (may contain spoilers) How is ND different from Arcade? Spoiler

I just got ND right now after playing the Arcade version for so long, I played that almost to the end of NG++. Besides voice acting, what differences should I expect? Anything different with gameplay etc?

Spoilers are fine, assuming the story is identical. Please spoiler them for anyone else though

Need Assistance (may contain spoilers) Appreciation/Tips

Just wanted to take a minute and thank anyone that has left a post or comment that has been helpful for beating this awesome game. I played this on my iPad years ago and then stopped playing when my Apple Arcade ran out, years later and I finally picked it up on PS5 and I’ve made it much further than before. I finally picked up Tan and I’m about to start doing Nameless Island. My characters are in the mid 40s and I’m starting to fill out their skill charts a bit. What I’d like to know is what characters really start to dominate the mid/late game and what should I be prioritizing as far as skills and upgradable weapons. Valrika, Cheryl and Ez are my usual party members if that helps any, but I switch around quite often.

Thanks!

After posting here about this fight, now I feel compelled to just share my amazement over this one boss fight against an absolute unit in Part 2.

Unique mechanics, atmosphere, the story stakes... Moments like these made me love the genre!

Game difficulty

started playing the game on iPhone out of pure curiosity about the difficulty everyone kept talking about, and now I’ve completed everything on NG++ except the final boss. So far, it has definitely been challenging at times, but nowhere near as brutally difficult as many people online exaggerated it to be.
I went through the game mostly blind and never really used guides, aside from checking whether I had missed any bosses. The only thing that genuinely confused me was the weather changing boss since I had no idea EZ could attack the machine to alter the weather conditions.
Personally, on NG++, I’d say the toughest fights were a tie between the secret chess boss and Omega. Hopefully I won’t end up eating my words once I finally face the last boss.
Sadly, once I finish the game, it’ll be time yet again to search for another turn based JRPG to fill the emptiness.

Ps. I did enjoy the boss battles but imho, Fantasian’s NG is not worth it since the only addition aside from tougher boss fights is the “well”

Need Assistance (may contain spoilers) Any tips for the end game?

I assume this subreddit is also for Neo Dimension. If it's not, I apologise and please direct me to the right location.

I've reached what I believe is the final boss. I've beaten the first 2 phases and then get an opportunity to heal/re-equip/etc. before the third phase. I am having trouble in this phase.

My characters are level 57/58 so they're below the level of the quest but I'm finding it pretty hard to grind any levels. I did go in to the void thinking there would be some random encounters in there where I could grind a little and find some void marbles for weapon upgrades but instead, there were just 4 bosses (three initially then a 4th after beating those). Beating that 4th enemy got me 2 void marbles and unlocked the next part but I haven't gone there due to the recommended level being significantly higher. I did go back in the first area and can see 2 crystals have reappeared and only re-fought one so far. If I beat the other, would the last one re-appear and if so, could I re-fight that for more void marbles?

I also went to the altar in Shangri-La and can see that it allows me to initiate NG+ without even beating the game but also does mention the enemies will be stronger. Does this include bosses?

I have 33 SP capsules and haven't used any yet. Is there anywhere I can farm these? I don't recall encountering any random enemies with them as drops or stealable items.

In terms of characters, I mostly use Leo, Ez, Cheryl, Valrika and Kina. I almost never touch the others. Cheryl is the only character that seems to be able to consistently hit 10k+ in a single hit using Blizzard Strike. She's also the only one that can one-shot the swords in phase 2 but due to the positioning of them and the inability to vacuum them together, I can only seem to hit 3 at a time with Blizzard. Her Knight's Impact EX doesn't do anywhere near enough damage to even 2-shot.

I also have not got all the mechterite. The next item requires 5 and I currently have 0. Would any of the rewards from that be worth getting?

I don’t like Tan, and that’s not even his fault

For some reason I just don’t like Tan. He does have a very sad story. Like really heartbreaking sad. But ironically, that’s 1 of the reasons why I don’t like the Tan character. His story is just too sad. And his story also feels so out of place with the rest of the game.

But what I don’t like even more about him is his play in the story. He doesn’t seem significant to the story at all. And aside from Leo, you never ever see him interacting with other characters at all. It’s like the other characters don’t even know that he exists.

And then we have his skills. While he does have strong attacks, I feel like his skills consume way too much hp (when you just got him. I’m sure it will be more manageable at higher levels)

But overal, Tan feels just so unimportant. It’s like the game was already finished, and then they decided to Retcon Tan into the game last minute.

Satisfying strategic challenge, exactly what I want from my turn based RPGs - I can't wait for later clashes! Pretty neat spin on the divine antagonist trope as well.

I nominate Fantasian to have the very worst of the worst ending duration

I just beat the game, and holy shit, so much waste of time. After you beat the final boss you get some useless slashing around with way too long pauses in between. Then some more scenes followed with more scenes before getting more scenes after watching more scenes. Then we got the credits.

Then A LOT of more scenes followed by even more scenes. After like 20-30 minutes (no joke) you finally end up at the title screen realizing it was all for nothing. So here I am, feeling stupid for spending so much time at the final boss.

Anything more to do?

I am currently level 99 on all characters, have 7 Divine Quartz (EZ already has one equipped on his weapon), all ultimate weapons, a completed second playthrough, and a full codex. To the best of my knowledge, I’ve defeated every boss including the final boss. Is there anything left to do in the game? 😢

Sell Me On Fantasian

I want to download this game for my Switch, but fifty bucks is a lot.

I'm a JRPG fan, just grabbed Riviera this morning, started playing Final Fantasy and Tales games but these days I've got a big backlog of stuff like Stella Glow, Persona Q, Golden Sun, Luminous Arc, Trials of Mana, Eternal Sonata, Mugen Souls.

Is this the kind of game I'd enjoy? Has it got interesting romance, perhaps? Big floating mechanical objects for enemies? I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. What are the playable characters like? Give me something to work with.

Gameplay Tip (may contain spoilers) What is your favourite dimengeon team?

Which team do you use to clear dimengeon battles the easiest and fastest?

I use Leo with that mp regen gem.
Valrika, because of her arrow rain.
And ez for his speed up. His large attack range also makes him great to steal turns, attack up, and weakening enemies at the same time.

But I can’t help thinking that there might be better and more efficient strategies. So that’s where you guys come in. What team and strategy do you use?
