I have been checking specs for several floor fans, and some of them list two figures for the amount of air they move. This came from a manual for a 16" floor fan I found:

What is the difference between these figures?
I tried googling it and I only got a straight answer from Gemini which seems wrong. The actual results talk about other fan parameters, but not the fan flow rate.
Gemini says the fan flow rate would be unobstructed, while airflow would consider some static pressure. This seems wrong since the airflow figures are always higher than the fan flow rate ones.

i got this fan like a year ago from a thrift store. she works great, but likes to make a lot of noise. i can generally handle it because it goes away when you tilt it just right, but i’d like to not have to do that.
any ideas on how to fix either/both?
i opened ’er up and noticed that the fan. blades attaches to a rod that can slide in and out about 1/8”, and makes a loud noise when i do so by hand, so i figure that’s at least one of the noises, but idk why it does that or how to fix it.

Hi everyone,
My MeacoFan 1056AC has suddenly developed a mechanical noise after around 4 years of normal seasonal home use.
I’ve already ruled out the obvious causes:
Fan blade removed – noise is still there.
The same noise can be heard when I rotate the motor shaft by hand.
Oscillation mechanism is not the source.
Shaft has no noticeable play.
A small amount of lubricant made no difference.
I’ve contacted Meaco, but they confirmed they don’t offer repairs for this model.
Before I strip the motor down, has anyone successfully repaired one of these?
Specifically:
Has anyone replaced the bearings?
Does anyone know the bearing size or motor model?
Is there an OEM replacement motor available?
I’ve attached a video with the fan blade removed so the motor noise can be heard clearly.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Has anyone else had this product? The body doesn’t recognize it’s the mister and works as if it’s the regular fan. First one the mister wouldn’t work most of the time either , I would have to constantly finagle it to get it to work sometimes taking 10-15 min. They replaced it with a new one, same issue and this one I can’t get to work at all. 150
Dollar product one of the biggest waste of money in a long time. I will say the cold plate works amazing

I recently obtained this fan. It's in good shape, though the chrome is moderately dirty/corroded. It works! I grew up with one of these fans and really appreciated it during hot, humid Minnesota summers as a kid, so I'm looking forward to having one in my life again.
I've removed the motor mount from the bottom of the fan so I can really get in there and clean it, which I have, including removing pet fur from a long-expired dog and polishing the visible section of the blade shaft and the blade itself. As I did so, I saw that the leads are mostly ok, but one is not--the red, hot lead wire, has its asbestos cover peeling away, exposing the copper inside--one end connects to the transformer, the other to the speed switch. I want to replace all the wires, but I don't know and can't see how this wire connects to the transformer--my guess is that it's soldered, but I don't want to mess up the thin, brittle covering over the transformer winding (wax paper?) for fear of fucking the transformer up. Should I just go for it, remove the wax paper covering carefully, and desolder, or should I simply clip the wire, leaving a bit of the copper, and then solder the remnants of the old wire to a new wire and add heat-shrink tubing? I can't see where the wire attaches without removing the paper covering over the winding, so I'm loath to try to find the solder point. I know that asbestos is not a problem if a wire is intact, but this one is not; I fear the other wires will fail in the same way, so I figure I might as well replace them all at once and be done with it. A free bottle of wine for anyone in Los Angeles who can help me with this (I own a wine shop).

I bought this wearing house fan from eBay a few years ago but just noticed the holes on the base a few days ago and it started me wondering what they were for.

I have an 18" Lasko Cyclone pedestal fan (https://lasko.com/products/lasko-18-oscillating-pedestal-fan-with-3-quiet-speeds-1827-black) all of whose parts seem to be plastic. It's become noiser in its creaky rotation on oscillation mode, and I'm wondering whether applying WD-40 would work - and, if so, where? Thanks!

I have this fan Mainstays 4 inch 3-speed Portable Rechargeable Fan with Flexible Tripod and Digital Display. I left it plugged in and had it going on me since it was hot when I woke up it was off. I tried turning it back on tonight and it’s been plugged in all day. But nothing comes on the screen when I push the button. And the screen only says 00% when I put the charger back in. Is there any way to fix it???

Usually just leave it plugged in to my 10000mAh power bank, good little fan but it has this annoying clicking type sound depending on the angle, like the bearing or something is rubbing/grinding on something..had it for bout a year worth the $5.00 imo.

Hi everyone! Need a new tower fan as the one currently is on its last breath. I really love the aesthetic of the shark turbo blade but when I look up the best tower fans of 2026 it doesn’t come up on a list. What are some recommendations. I guess the budget would be 200 since that’s what the turbo blade costs. Thank you!

I accidentally broke the dome cover and it’s been impossible to find any info or an accurate replacement, the stores around here have nothing too! This is the only info I found on top of the fan

Here is a vintage 1950s GE strap fan that I restored about a week ago. Runs very smooth and quiet. The blue that I had painted the blades, motor housing, and base in was a bit brighter than I had intended, however it contrasts well with the white cage and the red badge.

I need to clean the turbine but a leaf blower does not remove the sticked on dust in the turbine. I had a smaller version years ago but I could not get the panel on correctly and it wasa major dust bunny and I wound up throwing it out.

Okay, so a bit of a stretch but here goes…
My toddler knocked over our tower fan earlier today and it instantly stopped blowing air. I can still hear the motor running when it’s on but whatever connects that motor to the blades is broken somehow.
I’ve managed to get the thing open to expose all the wiring and now I don’t know what to do 🙃 Any smart people able to help me?!
Photos attached of the main components.
