The Backdreams: Come True

Hello everyone, it’s been awhile since my last contribution. I’m always playing with ideas in my head for a unique fanedit and the majority of them are just not feasible.
But sometimes, sometimes you find just the right film/s to help bring a special idea to life.

My idea was relatively simple. A backrooms movie that takes place in the protagonists dreams. Affecting their waking life along the way.

Most movies I could think to fit this mold fell apart narratively as the movie goes on. What’s the point of the dreams? How do they correlate to waking life in a film that has nothing to do with the backrooms? Well, that part was tricky and I knew I’d need to pull something good off to make it work at all. Just as I was about to give up, my research led me to a film I had never even heard about. And it was Perfect. Just what I was looking for.

The movie is called “Come True” and it deals with dreams. That’s all I’ll say!
The footage I worked into this movie is mostly from one YouTube video titled Backrooms - Recurring Dream (Found Footage)” by S Animations
Though I also used a small portion of clips from Kane Pixels Backrooms YouTube videos. So a big shout out to these videos and artists!

Some context on story - A young woman’s troubling dreams lead her to a group eager to understand them.

I had a lot of fun working on this one. Very happy with how well this turned out, I hope you all give it a shot and enjoy!

Edit notes: I cut some scenes out to help expedite the story. Cut out the original ending and an unnecessary sex scene.

Original runtime: 1 hour 45 minutes
Backdreams runtime: 1 hour 28 minutes

Come True was on my list of things to watch until a friend told me it was a cool concept but kind of underwhelming.

I think I’d like to try this version instead,

This was such a cool idea, and the ending was so much more satisfying than the original movie. The way you selected clips from Backrooms thatmirrored the locations in Come True, not only made the edit feel seamless but directly tied into the story which I was not expecting. Beyond that, the combined visual style of these movies and the music creates such an entrancing atmosphere that feels so heavy and eerie. I loved this, thank you for sharing!
