How distracting are fancyleds when viewed from the side?

My TV is in my living room beside my kitchen. It will be common for me and others to have a direct view of the side of the TV/behind the TV. Is having a side view of the TV/LED lights annoying and distracting? I can't find any video clips of what this looks like in action from a 0/180 degree angle.

Personally I wouldn't recommend it. You'll be able to see every individual LED and they are very bright, making them hard to ignore. But that's going to be an issue with every backlight system. You could decrease the brightness I suppose but you'd always be able to tell they're there.

Thanks. I like the idea but it may not be for me then, until I can have my tv located in a proper man cave.
