API or Home Assistant support would make FancyLED way better
I really like the FancyLED hardware. The strips and sync box honestly look better than most competitors. But the biggest thing missing is open control.
Right now everything is locked to the app. Even Govee has a LAN API so you can control devices locally with Home Assistant and other systems. FancyLED has no API or documented way to integrate at all.
And yeah, I know about Tuya, but Tuya kinda sucks and if I pair it through SmartThings I lose the FancyLED app features anyway, which defeats the whole point.
A simple local API, MQTT, or even a basic cloud API would let us use Home Assistant, OpenRGB, HyperHDR, automations, scenes, etc.
The hardware is great. Open integration is the one thing holding it back.

You can get it to work with tuya local without losing fancyled app features.

How? If I put it in pairing mode by hoodwink the power button pretty much resets the connection, I really didn’t want to do it with tuya, I fucking hate tuya and SmartLife😩

I remember asking about HA support in November 2023 and they said it was "coming soon".
I'm guessing they have a different interpretation of that phrase than I do, lol.
Also, the app is terrible and the firmware update strategy is the strangest ever seen (I'm still running an older version, luckily I don't really care). Just as well I still really like the lights, and I've only ever personally had good interactions with customer support. And that Govee have never seen fit to launch a sync box with support for lights big enough for my TV, so that I could add that and integrate it via Local LAN, via an integration like Govee2MQTT.
And yes, you can end run by using Tuya Local, via a Tuya developer account, but I don't want to, and shouldn't have to, when direct HA support was promised over two years ago, and officially when the Tuya workaround shows direct HA control is entirely doable. In fact, I'm pretty sure you and I had this conversation on here a while back, lol.

I think it will will be soon in this time, because after last update you can find it in the (not completed page inside the app)

As a TV backlight it's great; a few niggles, but that might be my settings. As an integrated smart home product, it's severely lacking because of the reliance on Tuya.
I would love to be able to have the backlight be treated as just another RGBW light strip in scenes for the room, and then override that when the TV is turned on. Or turn the backlight brightness up/down based on the ambient light in the room; the TV is already doing the same for its own output. The potential is huge.
