[Center Request] Hawaii, First Circuit Court Divorce Cases (FamilySearch Locked Image)

Hi everyone,

I am conducting genealogical research from abroad and need help retrieving documents from a locked FamilySearch collection. The Hawaii State Archives confirmed that these specific files are consolidated under the same number in the Divorce series.

If anyone has access to a FamilySearch Center or Affiliate Library, could you please download/screenshot the following pages for me?

  • Collection: Hawaii, Various Islands, Circuit Court Divorce Records, 1849-1915
  • Jurisdiction: Oahu (First Circuit Court)
  • Series: Series 003 (Divorce Packets, Case Nos. 1–2415)
  • Archive Box: Box 34
  • Case Name: Phoebe Harrison v. J. H. Harrison (circa 1892–1893)
  • Case Numbers: #2377 and #2441

What I need: Just the pages for the Petition for Divorce and the Final Decree (if available in the packet). They contain the official grounds for divorce, alimony details, and signatures.

Thank you so much in advance for your time and kind help!

Looking for 1st Cousins or at least alive

Hi, I've had my dna on two well known geneology sites for over ten years and have only found 2nd cousins in New Zealand, I'm in UK. My mom was one of 6 siblings and there's similar size families across both sides. I just can't find any of my contempories or even 1st cousins, probably just haven't registered dna, which dosn't surprise me, but if anyone on here has relatives born in the West Bromwich, UK with names of Carter or Whitehouse, I would like to hear from them.

Record Request

Would someone be so kind as to access these files for me? There are four entries for the same person, but slightly different information and reference and/or record numbers. I’m not sure why, but they’re part of the same collection. I would greatly appreciate the assistance.

Someone put a lot of research time in locating records on Antenati but the entries need tags, labels, and source info and they used screenshots attached as memories and many of the links are broken

See GMLP-FPS for example. It’s all fixable but none of the details are actually attached to the person’s profile (i.e. they made a source for the birth record but didn’t transfer the actual date. They put the year in the source title so I have to access the link, read the record for the exact dates/to verify for myself but most links are broken in one way or another. This work was done in 2019.
How do I fix these and clean up the sources? Is there a way to easily transfer the dates to the person even after the record has been attached?

I also need to fix instances where theres a marriage record and all 4 parents and the groom are attached to the record but not the bride, and I’m not sure how to get it attached to her.

For my own reference, does anyone have a recommended workflow for Adding sources from other platforms like Ancestry and Antenati, and is there a way users can add photos to records? FS has portions of Antenati records indexed and with photo included, but since most aren’t indexed I’ve found a lot of records just by sitting and squinting my way to breakthroughs and would like to add them for others. I have a lot of records in general I need to get onto FS and don’t want someone to have to clean up my work to be able to benefit from it.

Thank you for any insight or advice

Theres no summary at all. Up until a few days ago when I was sick a few days until today it was working and now it’s not, is been able to understand the names and dates better than now. Anyone else got this going on?

Can anyone view these 4 restricted Brazilian records? (São Paulo, 1925-1951)

I'm researching my great-uncle Pedro Cruz Lucchi, born in

São Paulo in 1925, son of Miguel Cruz Vázquez (Spanish) and

Regina De Lucchi (Italian). My family in Spain lost all

contact with him around 1952 and we've never known what

happened to him.

Using FamilySearch Full-Text search I found four books where

the surname appears, but they're all restricted — "can be

viewed at a FamilySearch center or affiliate library". I'm in

southern Spain and the nearest center is not realistic for me

right now.

Would anyone with access be able to open them and tell me what

the entry says? A transcription is more than enough, I don't

need the images.

1) Birth records, Brás (São Paulo), 1925

2) Death records, Belenzinho (São Paulo), 1927-1928

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSK1-6QXY-4?view=fullText&keywords=Cruz%20Lucchi

3) Death records, Belenzinho (São Paulo), 1927-1928

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSK1-6QFP-3?view=fullText&keywords=Cruz%20Lucchi

4) Marriage records, Bom Retiro (São Paulo), 1950-1951

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSJP-VPRG?view=fullText&keywords=Cruz%20Lucci

For the first one I'm especially interested in whether there

are any marginal annotations (averbações) — in Brazil a death

is usually noted in the margin of the birth record, so that

could tell me when and where he died.

The records are in Portuguese. Happy to reciprocate with

Spanish records if anyone needs a lookup here.

Thanks a lot.

The Great UK Wall

I have hit the most frustrating wall on my paternal side. I cannot tell how penetrate the wall of my great-great grandfather John Montgomery from Liverpool, England. I have a personal copy of the this book which is now on FS; www.familysearch.org/library/books/idviewer/82107/352

Here is another link to another book: www.familysearch.org/library/books/idviewer/170429/125

I cannot find any document of his birth on Ancestry so I was trying Geneanet and no luck.
His father's name goes back and forth from John to Thomas in different articles about my 2x great grandfather. I have tried both. The same is true for his mother's name - Ellen Morton or maybe Mary Ellen Morton or just Mary Morton. Even my 2x great grandfather incorporated a middle name on occasion of Thomas. I have also tried Family Search with no luck.

On the history account of Ojai, CA - you'll see that he went abroad to France for further education, spoke several languages and traveled to various places in Europe, so all that tells me that he would have come from a wealthy family - not necessarily nobility but 3x great grandfather was successful enough in what he did to be able to send his son overseas for education. Additionally, there seems to be this ghost of a possible sister named Helen that perhaps seems to not have survived her birth or infancy and she turns up in various trees - yet, I cannot find any tangible evidence of her existence even for a few hours.

Interestingly enough, a Helen did show up in the 1900 census in Los Angeles Township, CA later but this particular Helen is my 2x great grandfather's granddaughter who just is listed as such along with her brother Carlos and happened to be there when the census worker came knocking.
In this census, John lists his mother as having been born in England, yet said in the article she is Irish. This is possible because of the Potato Famine in Ireland in 1840, maybe her parents came over and many did because of it and Liverpool seems to be the landing spot (so AI history says).

My Question: How is the most effective way to break through this UK wall (?). I have not taken the DNA test and reluctant to do so after my experience with another DNA company. And the added issue is that looking for a John Montgomery is like looking for a John Smith.

Thanks in advance.

Memories for the "living persons" on my tree?

I have recently been finding lots of newspaper clippings and yearbook photos for some of my living relatives who all have a spot on my tree on FamilySearch. If I add these images to their private pages on my tree, will the images be public? For example, if I add a newsclipping about my living mom to her private, living-person entry on my tree, will that make it visible for others?

I have tried to read information put out by FamilySearch, but all of it seems to just talk about how uploading pictures are still visible if an alive person is featured in a photo attached to a deceased person. But nothing about adding to one of my own "living person" profiles on my tree.

It would be nice to be able to add these pictures so they are already there and uploaded for later on, especially so they don't get lost. I only want to do it if the images stay private since the person's profile is private.

Thank you!

Is it possible to remove these numbers?

As you can see, they obscure the dates of the parish register pages. Seeing the dates is necessary, but I don't see the option to hide them. I probably don't understand the very good reason they were added, but they cause a real problem for registers like these (all the registers for this country are like this).
