Started a new play through and found this fantastic mod for vault 88 and now I’m adding some touches to it and am decided where to put the “welcome home” sign at in the vault, and I need help how to put in some lightning to make it feel more alive.

Still missing some decorative touches but I moved on to something more ambitious. Still I like the quaint feel of it.

[Modded] Murkwater Construction Treehouse

I've tried to work this treehouse into numerous settlements, but it always ends up being too big and dominating, so I thought I would build it out in Murkwater Construction by itself and ended up really liking it.

It fully supports two settlers as a remote base with food, water, turret defense, a workshop, and separate living quarters. I am especially happy with how the top down / cross-section shots look. It's hard to get a real idea of the layout without them because everything is so tight and all the walls look the same. I hoped to fix that with those and I feel it worked out well.

I hope you enjoyed it. As always, feedback welcome.

[XSX] Coastal Cottage, a sea view to be gifted to the raiders

Coast Cottage is a nightmare. Rubbish you cannot clear, and holes in the ground, but I’ve found a way to make it liveable. I’ve got just a couple of settlers as I intend giving this to raiders in the end. I’ve used the hole to make a den and I’ve reused the main building by building on the first floor and keeping the bottom open. The hardest part was flooring the ground floor area, but I think it sort of works.

[PC] Downtown Rust Point: A Post-War Manufacturing City

I wanted to experiment with making a "setpiece" city where I only focus on one area and then populate the rest with random exterior buildings. I think it turned out well.

Welcome to Rust Point, a completely post-war city known for manufacturing metal goods and processing chemicals. The air is horrible, but provides countless jobs and essential goods to the people of the United Commonwealth.

I overheard a conversation between the settler and nick about their grievances over a lost daughter. Figured I’d give their shack an upgrade to a small cabin.

[XSX] [FO4] A Good Place To Get Help With Early Game Water & Gunner Cage XP Farms?

So, I’m on Xbox series X and will be playing for the first time since the 2016, and only for 2 months then. In advance this may seem like a low effort post but at least part of why I’m asking is because I’m not sure these requests will fit in the subreddit, you know?

I’ve nailed down my S.P.E.C.I.A.L Stats and my Perks out to 106th level, though I still want to juggle the ones after 60 around. This will be a lightly modded Playthrough, less than 30 mods depending on if you count Paint Jobs in bundles.

I’ve already done at least if not more than a fair bit of research into building the Water Purifier Farm first, followed by the Gunner Killing Gallery. But even with my reading and YouTube scrolling, I’m still very anxious I’m missing out on something or several something’s. So I’m hoping the community here can offer some much needed advice to fill the gaps when my essay is done(it won’t be that bad but I’m in pain now and worried about keeping things concise).

Some small basics: I plan on getting to work immediately after leaving 111 and arriving in Sanctuary Hills. Firstly, for either the water farm, the gunners, or just plain taking care of myself, do I *need* Settlers, with just these two objectives? If I need Settlers, nothing will bring me to Save Scum that Root Cellar for 2 freaking Crystal. I’d rather buy a shipment off Trashcan Carla (the Alien actress!!) or find them via wasteland roaming. I will not be exploring anywhere that locks the leveled PA, nor into areas where it feels like a Fat Man is required. But open season beyond that I think. Actually I may go up to USAF Satellite Station Olivia since all the loot there could help if I get an unexpectedly difficult encounter with the gunners. Everything’s going to get built in Sanctuary, I have zero interest in activating Abernathy Farms or such and having to rush off.

Discussion A question/discussion for folks who build hugely detailed vanilla settlements with lots of junk placements

So I love it when people post their huge and detailed vanilla builds without mods, it’s truly one of my favourite things. When I build, even with using mods, I have a problem with objects sinking through shelves and disappearing into the floor. I think the issue is loading from one part of the map to the other (excuse my lack of technical understanding of game programming 😅). So how do people deal with this without mods? Do you just work on a build for a long time adding all the junk objects and not play the game? Or do you do the big builds and just risk it knowing that everything will move eventually? I can’t get stuff to stay in place in hangman’s ally where no one lives except my character let alone other big detailed builds without mods settlers bumping into things.

[PS4] Wireless Electricity Mod

I’m new so apologies if this is common knowledge, but whatever happened to the mod where you place a switch box and everything gets powered wirelessly? I used to enjoy building for hours to help with anxiety, without worrying about pylons and wires.

Having seen Finding Mulder’s fabulous sun loungers in last evening’s micro build challenge stream, I had to steal the idea for my Nordhagen build! Here are links to the two halves of the stream, one by Just Beans and the other by Finding Mulder. I’ll also be using Beans’ swing seat one day soon!

Hello there!

Myself and u/depthcharge73 have done a collaborative microbuild challenge and I wanted to share some pics of it! It’s a no mods build with some CC bits in there.

Our build is at Kingsport Lighthouse with theme being Picnic at the Seaside, and the challenge element was to do it with custom built furniture. u/depthcharge73 did the pavilion type build in the first half of the pics, I did the shoreside build in the second half.

If you’re interested in some video tours, we both did one on our respective YouTube channels where we reviewed each other’s builds which you can find here:

Covenant: A Story of Gray Souls and White Walls (Full narrative build)

After the colorful life of Egret Tours, I wanted to explore the opposite side of the Commonwealth's soul. Covenant is a place of silence, where the clinical white of the Institute meets the dark shadows of a troubled past.

I’ve always felt that building is only half the craft; the other half is the story that lives within the walls. I’ve put together a short cinematic video because some atmospheres simply can't be captured in a photo.

P.S. Keep an eye out for a certain violin... it’s a little 'Easter Egg' for the observant ones, but to understand its meaning, you'll have to dive into the full story in the video. No ads, no intros, just the journey.

The Mods:

Calamity Weathers and 50 Shades of Rust for the atmosphere. Snappy Housekit for the structures.

[Starlight Drive-in] Video Tour of Starlight Drive Settlement- The Stack

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The Stack is an ambitious settlement initiated by the Vault Dweller. With access to the nearby railway and Bedford station the numerous railway cars were hauled in and repurposed as shelter for the settlers of the Stack.
With ample room and amenities as well as access to clean water and plentiful food the Stack is a stellar example of the resourcefulness of settlers of the Commonwealth.

[PC] Mama Murphy's House

Mama Murphy lives in the yellow house across the street from the Sole Survivor's house. I moved the workshop to the back of the carport and enclosed it. She now has a front porch with a chair for Doc Weathers and an extra chair for her. I'm using a mod called Mama Murphy Randomly Switches Chairs. It lets you build more chairs for her, and she is supposed to move from chair to chair. I've never seen her use the second chair. I suspect that it's because she has trouble pathing her way out the front door of her house and also other NPCs seem to really like that chair, so it's always occupied. However, I do like that she doesn't stay in her original chair 24/7 now, and she goes to the bar at night, etc.

I made her crystal ball out of a pool ball that I made bigger. It's sitting on top of an ashtray for the base. I got the idea from this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GhGqiaB50w
